I didn't realize they went from Troon my last,and only time ,to Aran was Ardrossan to Brodick.
@CWShipping10 күн бұрын
@@kevanhubbard9673 As of right now all sailings are out of Troon as Glen Sannox can’t access Ardrossan until modification works have been done to the harbour, and Alfred can only fit in Troon. However once the summer timetable comes out and Caledonian Isles returns then Ardrossan will be used by Caley Isles and Troon will be used by Glen Sannox
@martindornan166718 сағат бұрын
Ardrossan Harbour was sold in 1992 by the Tories to a private company called Peel ports headquartered in Manchester. There are reports that Peel ports has under-invested in Ardrossan harbour. Peel ports closed the Irish berth for safety reasons they claimed. CalMac accused Peel Ports of not investing enough into Ardrossan harbour even though they have given Peel ports over £15 million in landing fees. Peel Ports wants taxpayers money to upgrade Ardrossan Harbour. There is negotiations between North Ayrshire council, transport Scotland and Peel Ports to decide how much money each will put towards the upgrade of Ardrossan harbour. Brodick Harbour on Arran had a £30 million upgrade completed in 2018 and Troon harbour on the mainland has been upgraded. Glenn Sannox will sail between Troon harbour and Brodick Harbour on Arran untill Ardrossan has been upgraded.

I was proven correct! Didn't even last a week and the bow doors were faulty! This tub is cursed!!
@martindornan166717 сағат бұрын
It was reported in the Herald on the 18 January. CalMac said "this morning the first sailing was delayed due to a blown fuse which affected the bow doors. This was quickly resolved and the vessel has been making up time with her time table expected to return to normal by the end of today. This sort of technical issue is routine on any vessel and is usually quickly dealt with by the crew as it had been today." No doubt you will be praying for a major breakdown of the vessel for some warped reasons.

I was very impressed, lots of seating both internal and external and seems to be happy to sail in weather that the Alfred wouldn't so I think it's a positive step, when Glen Rosa arrives Arran will have a fantastic service!
@jasminemcc200212 күн бұрын
Two main downsides compared to the Caledonian Isles: First, there's no outdoor deck space facing forward. This has been a favourite place to stand and watch Arran come into view over the years, and an indoor lounge doesn't really have the same effect (and the Caledonian Isles has a forward facing lounge as well). Furthermore, you can do a complete circuit outdoors, and there's still plenty of seating -- a lot more open deck space overall. Second, the open section of the car deck means that you will inevitably hear car alarms for the entire time while out on deck.
@CWShipping12 күн бұрын
@@jasminemcc2002 Yeah I agree with the space in front of the bridge, it’s also a favourite of mine on Caley Isles or Isle of Arran, so it will be missed. The car alarms with the open deck will be annoying as well however having an open deck does mean she can carry hazardous goods something that the Caley Isles can’t do due to her enclosed car deck.

I quote: "it's cursed" So you don't believe that the Scottish Government or CMAL or anybody else involved in the chopping and changing specification of this vessel have any part to play in the delay in Glen Sannox entering service. Instead you believe it's the fault of evil, supernatural spirts which have cursed it.
