People who read comments and complain about seeing spoilers there do it to themselves, but no one can avoid spoilers if they're in the video title itself, please stop. edit: this goes for the some of the livestream video titles when they get posted too.

I like the suspense of watching the analysis and not knowing the result. Title spoils it.

@Jos Pickering Not really for the videos I've watched. Perhaps after a bit of watching you can ascertain who the video title is referring to but it still keeps you guessing. This is just a blatant unavoidable spoiler. And you're being insufferable about it. Is this personal to you or are you just a dick?

excellent job m8 , go HARRYYY ! french defense players knew from first king move and especially c4 that you may face total destruction against and attacking / dynamic player like Max. Great game, allez Maxime ! Tomorrow is a HUGE day against Fabi Caruana.

Genuine question here from a fan of the game: Why would a GM play anything other that a variation of the sicilian against white 1. e4?
@dannygjk
@dannygjk 4 жыл бұрын
MVL is a Sicilian specialist so that would be riskier than necessary.

Is it just me or does this game seem easier to follow than others? For the first time in a while I could follow the logic behind every move.

@@louiefelipemurphy You have right! The game was quite easy to follow because the winner' s moves were logical and black did not succeed to create any meaningful counterplay. Black played back and forth and changed plans too much. So white could follow his plan quite logically.

Looking at the board at 5:04, MVL is free to roam all over the board at will, Nepo is cramped in his half, perhaps this was never going to end well, fun game though, most high level games with stakes this high can be quite boring, perhaps Nepo should have simply played for a draw against the tournament #2

6:35 Simon's comments on dxc5 are extremely interesting, & after 1 e4 e6 2 d4 d5 3 Nc3 Bb4 4 e5 c5, the English IM Michael Basman advocates 5 dxc5!?, on the principle that (a) it opens the position for your (potential) bishop pair & (b) that if Black is going to capture on c3, then 5 a3 is a wasted move....I have had fair success with this idea over the years....
