Very clever and well done enclosure! My only question is, does the organic materials used to make the enclosure (e.g. wood) retain the odors from the materials you cut? My wife engraves leather and to be honest, it really stinks even with a strong exhaust fan being used.

Thanks! Yes the MDF retains the smokey smell. I would suggest trying to seal a piece of MDF with polyurethane, placing that in your current enclosure for a few jobs. Then test if the smell lingers. If it doesn't, you could use that as an option. Best of luck!

Great work! The idea of the case is really impressive! But I notice already in the second video that you put a simple transparent protective screen instead of a colored one to protect against the laser beam. Please tell me if this will be a safe idea, because I am currently making a similar case myself and am thinking about what to put as a viewing window. Thanks in advance for your reply!

Thanks for watching! If you use a clear window, you should still wear the provided safety glasses while using the machine as the reflected laser emissions will not be filtered. I chose to use the clear sheet as I had spares around and didn't want to spend extra on the orange type that blocks the emissions

Thanks for the reply. I will most likely use red acrylic plastic, because the glasses are not always comfortable to put on and you can forget about them. I wish you creative success!

Wait. You're telling me you're producing builds of your quality on an apartment balcony? Is it a big balcony? What's your storage setup for all your tools/materials? Could that be a video? (the storage, while maintaining your privacy and everything of course) I don't know, I just find that inspiring. I feel a lot of youtube woodwork stuff I'll get fed involves shops, or houses with space they can turn into a workshop with envy worthy tools. I know you're not building whole dinner tables or anything, but I enjoy the problem solving I've seen you use in some of your other vids. It seems like maybe you have a few multipurpose tools that can do many things for you, like your 3D printer to fabricate things you can then hold down with off the shelf fasteners, or the laser which I saw you thin a board with a router, clean it up with a chisel, then use the laser to cut a through pattern. Then things like your track saw and hand tools like the chisels. Your work is just really detailed and quality, and finding out you're doing it from a balcony of all places just blew my mind and makes me feel I have no excuse "for not having space".

Yep, combination of balcony and a second bedroom I've converted into my 'studio' has the 3d printer, and clean work desk (soldering etc) Maybe I'll make a space tour one day

You should really think about replacing that window with some acrylic that will block out the laser 👌🏻

That would be a great future improvement, thank you

Hi, i want to buy a xtool d1 for my shop but we want to engrave doors (we are a cabinet shop) is it possible to ingreva a piece 40"x20"? Like can i just site the machine on top of the wood and run it?

Hello, yea the D1 pro can be easily positioned on top of your door to engrave a logo. Please note the engraving area is only 390x400mm tho. Thanks for watching :)

What is the material used for viewing window??
@mxcbuilds66338 ай бұрын
I'm not sure the exact material. It's thing plastic sheet that came with A3 size picture frame from Kmart. Possibly acrylic, it's quite brittle
