MXR Bass D.I.+ Demo w. Fender Precision [no talking, sweeping knobs]

Hey!
next video in my little pedal demo series. This time I am sweeping knobs on a MXR Bass D.I.+..
I think it has a really nice 3 band EQ for tailoring you a very nice clean sound. The Color button makes the sound very sans amp like (which I like of course). The distortion channel could be better. It's very fizzly sounding on the D.I.. You should use a speaker simulation (like an IR loader) to smooth the sound out. On the bass rig through my ampeg 810 the distortion then sound way rounder and warmer.

This is just the perfect preamp for most styles of music. With some EQ and blend work the distortion can give you a good rock crunch. There are better options obviously for distorted bass but the clean side of this can’t be beat.

I love mine! It adds the perfect scoop to the tone and the right grit in the top end that sounds huge into a dirty amp, can’t believe It took me so long to get one

I run mine with the overdrive Channel always on but just right at the edge to where it's more of just a little Grit and then for overdrive I run a Behringer vintage tube overdrive 808 pedal

i personally prefer the m80 over the sansamp bass di, the m80 has more tone shaping so it's more versatile imo. i run an alpha omicron with the mxr m80. I like that I have options for clean, dirty (m80 distortion only), and gross (m80 + AO).

why i am getting very volume, got my best bass to input then output goes to the input on my bass amp. am using new 9v battery. all volume knobs on bass guitar, di+ box and on the amps are maxxed out but still very low volume.?

it's the threshold for the noise gate you can activate with the little button underneath it

is that direct output straight to the pc/laptop? or u r using an audio interface (external soundcard)? bcoz i'm using it straight to the mic line stereo input on my laptop but my pedal not working, all the indicator are off. i'm using both battery and adaptor. plz help me.

Both fit their own purpose. For me the Sansamp wins in terms of rock sound. The distortion on the MXR could really need a high cut filter, that would make it a keeper.

Hi Bro, planning to buy a bass Preamp my question is iam using a Boss ME80 as a interface for direct recording, do you think this pedal will go along with it ? I mean is there a possibility of a tone loss? Iam a guitar player but now iam doing bass for my friends and we do direct recording only, ive used my bass on my ME80 and the sound is ok if the song i would cover require a rounded bass tone but if i will do a more punchier song like from RHCP i cannot achieve it from my Boss ME80, so does pedal can resolve my problem?

I don´t like the distortion, but then again I don´t like distortion on bass much. It is an old design, so maybe there are possibilities to mod it.

I really like the EQ effect on the pedal but the gain/distortion is rouuuugh. Just absolutely destroys the signal and takes out the bassiness. Id use it for an eq always-on pedal but would avoid the distortion channel for the most part
