Could be as simple as he doesn't understand the algorithms, and thus hasn't grown much. Could be KZbin is just awful to the creators, and so he just uses this as a supplement, and doesn't sink a lot of effort into something that is unlikely to pay off.

I still cant figure out the new algorithms and I'm really not sure where is the problem and how to fix it....I have a few things to juggle here in this job (it's not just the videos I have to deal with); also I work nights playing live wherever and whenever I can; eventually I'll figure it out i guess. Til then, even if these videos help a few people, I'm more than glad to have catered to a crowd that really needs videos like these, even though they may be a small crowd.

The secret magic of this Viscous Vibe pedal lays within the tone print option. The preset settings of chorus and vibrato are usable but they don't put you in the ballpark of a Shin-Ei . With the the toneprint you can adjust wave forms, high cut filters,etcetcetc. With some serious tweaking you can nail any kind of that old vibes you like. It took me 4 days to come as close as possible to a Shin-Ei. The Shin -Ei vibes weren't as consistent as everybody thinks. They all sound a bit different and it were not the most reliable units out there. At a certain point in my life I had a working one but it broke and was not repairable. The spare parts are hardly sought affter but I'll keep it just in case... I wish it had an expression pedal input but you can't have it all. The ramp function which you can adjust in the toneprint option does the trick but isn't as versatile. I use my foot on the speed knob and that does the job well done. With changing waveforms you can alter the characteristics of the vibe. Most photocell options are one-trick pony's, one waveform. They excell at some levels but a lot of the current photocell vibes out there are way to expensive for what they are. Some are good , some are bad. For the price The Viscous Vibe is a no-brainer. You don't need a weird voltage supply (9,8 V on the EHX Good Vibes otherwise it won't vibe.....who developped this thing? Not a guitar player.) so you can hook it up to any pedal power unit you like and it is in a MXR style enclosure so it will fit a small pedalboard. In the end it is an effect which has to deliver and it does a great job at that.! I can do it all with the Viscous vibe and it saves me some money for the next pedal which always will come eventually....

The Kirk Fletcher tonepeint is 95% the same as Fulltone DeJa 2, the big box high voltage one Trower used for most of the last 2 decades. Had both side by side.

Used to own the MXR and couldn't get on with it. The chorus setting was too fizzy when playing with a distortion pedal. Sold it and bought the TC instead. Handles distortion/fuzz a lot better and the toneprint option is a lovely bonus!

Intensity was considerably Lower on the TC = (meaning) it has More Throb. I personally have the Drybell, but the Best of the Best is The Shiftee Vibe - just Trust Me on this. Did Tons of Research. Nice Demo. Enjoyed it. Love Vibes and Robin Trower.

If you have a vibrato pedal and a chorus pedal, you can also replicate the sound and have more controls to work with.

@@KamakaziFlyboy thanks. I do have a chorus pedal and that Lilian has a vibrato setting. I might play around with it tonight. The Lilian is a pretty cool pedal. Back when I wrote this comment I was playing around with it as a phaser. Lately I toned it down with the knob that blends in your dry signal. I’ve found a lot more use for it subtle like that. It’s fun coming up with new sounds. Thanks again for the idea!

I use the MXR with my acoustic guitar set about like he did. On the slow side. It makes songs like Little Wing, Whiter Shade Of Pale just turn magic. I have a hard time turning it off. I don't use the chorus setting on the pedal but sometimes a Boss chorus added.

Viscous Vibe is the one I ended up getting. Chewier, and don't forget the tone print! I ended up making one with a kind of flanger like tone (that's actually a parameter you can tweak!) That way you have the chorus, asofter chorus, and vibrato all in one pedal.

I had said before that I thought the MXR was the better sounding but after hearing Viscous vibes a bit more in other shootouts, it sounds better to my ears all around. Later this evening, I'm going to pick up both a Digitech Ventura vibe AND the Viscous vibe as the seller is bundling both for 100 USD. I'm pretty stoked about both but will likely just keep the Ventura vibe.

yeah, i just bought one and i'm looking really forward to feeding it stereo material, with split LR keyboard outputs, autopanned sounds, or even a simple light stereo delay or chorus before it. univibe benefits from having chords to chew on, so i can't think of why stereo delay or a fatter unison sound wouldn't have potential too.

I have both of these pedals. Neither one is an "exact" replica of the original. That said, the mxr is closer to the original sound, and the TC is more of a cool phaser sound. I find both to be very useful for certain situations. I have both on my board. If you can forget about trying to exactly replicate the old shin ei vibe and accept these pedals for what they are, you can make good use out of both. Play on fellow string benders

Yes, once you find the sweet spot, and of course a quality tube amp also helps. I do most of my practice with a solid state Orange 20RT, and get very good Trower sounds from it. With my Princeton amp, it becomes magical
