That's normal for the stock bulb. The faster you spin the motor the more voltage the stator puts back in to the battery. Remember at just idle the stator will maintain the battery. But not replenish it. You have to keep the revs up for the stator to replenish the battery. Each time you start the bike it pulls a little out of the battery. And like I said at idle It will keep the battery from going any lower. But most motor cycle charging systems are made to recovery the battery wile at speed. If your commute is maybe five to ten minuets under 50 mph. Maybe invest in a battery tender to help fill in the gaps.

I started on a rebel a few years ago great starter bike. Yours is even better, cheap and already damaged a bit. You don't have to worry about messing it up. I just started KZbin too. I'll subscribe and follow your progress and would appreciate it if you did the same for mine. Thanks and good luck.

I found a decent 06 model and purchased it Thursday before last. I got the carb off getting it rebuilt at a shop. The floats were sticking. I should get it back early next week and I'll check on mine to see. The bike I bought has strait pipes on it so I'm checking on baffles for it now. Its way to loud for my neighbors lol
