Tess! You ran Boston 2018! Me, too! What an experience. I believe meteorologists categorized the weather that day as a gale! It was tough, I didn't requalify at it as I had previously. I did qualify for 2023 this year, doing better than 10 minutes under my standard! In addition, I managed to qualify for New York City 2023 by a scant 13 seconds! I've never been able to qualify for NYC until now. Thank you for your tips..I'm stealing them! Good Luck in Tokyo! I look forward to following your training progress. No doubt, you will crush your goal! We Boston 2018 finishers ran an epic marathon!

Truly an experience that only we who ran in 2018 can understand! I do want to run Boston again under better conditions :) 13 seconds! wow That' great! Yeah I hope to crush my goal. Right now there's a lot of snow and about -15C (5F) so its hard running outside but the treadmill will do for now.

@@tessontherun Hi Tess! I can relate...it is a balmy 0 degrees C/32 degrees F here with snow covered paths. Not nasty but I just finished a speed workout on the treadmill. I just couldn't face it today🥶

Hej Tess du är super inspiration till alla som springa och närmare sig 50 men ändå springer snabbare än någonsin. Jag lära mig mycket från hur du tränar, önskar att har dig som coach men får nöja mig med dina youtube videos istället 👍

Thank you! I will take this in swedish then ;) Jag tror det behövs löpare som kan visa att det är möjligt att fortsätta utvecklas långt upp i åldrarna. Jag blir glad av att höra att du kan få inspiration från mina videos. Tack 😊

@@tessontherun sorry should have taken it in english, the difference with your channel compared to 90% of what's on youtube is that i can easily relate to your efforts as we have similar ages and family with kids. At 48 i ran my best times this year and thats with even having covid twice so in 2023 i am expectlng big PBs and will be keeping a very close eye on your training setup and how you are progressing to see if i can steal a few of your ideas 😜

@@ngeaney1973 Sounds like you had a great year! Yes, sometimes it can be difficult to relate to other runners on YT. I am happy that I can inspire others in the same life situation. Hope we both have a fierce 2023! You are welcome to steel some 🙂

Love it! Those 10 things are very similar to what I'm planning on doing in the coming year as well. I'm older and slower than you, but I find your training videos inspirational and aspirational for me! I got back into marathoning this past fall (Berlin) after a 15-year hiatus. I'm hoping to complete all 6 majors, too! 4 more to go, but finding it hard to get in through the lottery. Any tips?
@tessontherun2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Hope these 10 thing will help us both :) I've been thinking making a video after Tokyo explaining how I got into all the majors. But shortly. I did pay a travel agency to get into NY. Boston- I did qualify. Chicago-I did qualify. Berlin-The lottery. Tokyo-by charity (700 euro) London-I got a place through the world majors championship. If you have not registered on the world major's website, I recommend that you do so. By running 2 marathons a year that are sanctioned by them, you can then get the opportunity to get a place at a majors the following year. Good luck!!

Look forward to seeing how Tokyo build up goes. I myself have decided to make use of one of my clubs endurance coaches for my spring (feb) marathon and although early days I trust him to understand my needs and like the idea of being set sessions. Ian

Hi Ian! I really believe in taking the help of a coach. And as you say, its important that you have trust in him. I'm doing this as an experiment. But we'll see if it's a good one ;) Finger crossed..Thanks for watching 😊

I wonder what stat you are looking for to tell if you are improving when you are doing heart rate zone training. Is it power that you are generating at a particular hr?
@tessontherun2 жыл бұрын
It's mostly about me training in 5 out of 6 different zones to get different things out of my training depending on the session. Now in my build-up phase, I need to work on being able to stay just below threshold speed for longer. This together with my lactate levels will hopefully lead to me raising my threshold pace.

Can you please share which foot massager you have?
@tessontherun2 жыл бұрын
Hi! My foot massager is called Flowfeet www.flowlife.com/eu/product/flowfeet/, they sell in the EU. This other one is from Nekteck and I think they are quite similar and sells worldwide: amzn.to/3iwQRkE
