The durability test of the Hephaestus on Maxace's KZbin channel is impressive. They baton it with a hammer & pry apart a wooden pallet, the knife is still fine at the end with only a few minor scratches on the blade. I think even some fixed blades might have broken from all of that.

I got one and enjoy it very much. I don't doubt that I could probably deconstruct my entire house with just that knife. Not sure if that speaks to the quality of the knife though or the questionable construction of my home.....

These are ALL in my Wheelhouse bigtime.. Thank you for sharing and reviewing these.. The Thick overbuilt world is where I live.. the EDC 'ability of these is all NOT dependent upon weight, even though I realize it is very important.. I love all that youve shown.. I would add The Halfbreed LBF-01 of which I am a HUGE proponent. ALSO the Hoback Husky fits this Genre largely !! its all about what YOU like, and I like many of the same things you do

I got one Beowulf and it is great. I love the rich sound when it flips open. It can be easily flipped open onehanded with the blade downwards and since I found out this, i am in love with the knife. I discovered one recently in an Austrian onlineshop but I afraid, it was the last one.

I have an ad 15 , obviously heavy and bulky but something about it just feels so right. Heavy duty , s35v beautiful blade and the locking mechanism is one of a kind. I have some quality American knives Benchmades, protech, USA Kershaws that are all amazing . But cold steel is just different

I own a few of those (beowulf, thunrar, mokume Haphaestus, alpha beast) all lifelong keepers. You should look into Miller Bros custom T1 makes a praetorian Ti look small

I paid what was a small fortune to me, for a Hoback Husky...entirely because it was overbuilt to me and was literally called Husky, thanks to my personal obsession with the dog breed. You are spot on with them not necessarily needing to be the best choice for...well anything. They're something that makes you happy because they're just funny =)

I like 1 piece throwing knives. 1/2 pounders. Dagger style no cutting edge, just a point. You can chunk them like a stone, and they will always land true.

my xm 18 has decent thumb stud opening but the flipper tab is pretty weak. Is there a fix for that? It's on bearings.

I now know why there's a knife material shortage - more metal here than a small suspension bridge. These are some chunky monkeys. Personally I like the Maxace Hephaestus and the Midgards Messer Viking. Sharp blades (or sharp pry bars as the case may be) all.

The rest on this list are cool as hell novelty pieces I would never buy but love the fact their even made, exept the Maxace, looks like a twelve year old designed it.

that real thick knife blade. that would work well for cutting wood into smaller pieces using a wood hammer, for your camp fire. there are uses for thick blade knives, just like a Becker, made by Camillus.

What, no SR1! Come on, S35VN, Tri-ad lock, 5mm thickness, G10 scales with steel liners! I mean the AD-10 is nice but the blade thickness is 3.8mm. quite a bit smaller than the SR1. Just busting your balls a little bit! Great vid. some real tanks on there. I do love my SR1 but I actually carry my PM2 more than anything. plenty of fixed blades to handle the hard use tasks.

This is how pocket knife companies stay in business. Have always wonder how they stay in business with a Million different pocket knives to choose from (probably 1unique knife model per person on earth)... because I never see people carry or use them... but then when you do find someone that actually carries and uses a pocket knife, he has 600 of them. lol. Hell, I wish I did. I probably would too if I could afford it. Then again, I'd probably have a larger collection of guns if I had the money though. (as many knives cost the same amount as a good quality handgun).
