Thank you brother for this. No one has had a great influence on my Christian growth and walk with Christ like Mr. MacArthur. I am from a third world country in Africa and as a young christian I was misled by many word of faith false teachers. But from the day I listened to John's teachings on one of the local radio stations, that became a great turnover in my life until now. Oh my goodness. I've really been watching him all the time the last few weeks. last night I saw a video where he answered a girl who asked how to know if you're saved, how to know if God has chosen you to be saved, and if it is even worth trying if God hasn't picked you. These are one of the exact questions I've been researching and asking God. His answer was so kind and compassionate. He really helped, clear some things up. I'm still trying to figure out were I stand with God, but he helped a lot.

Actually it was the ministry of Ray Comfort that led me to research more about JMac, Paul Washer, RC Sproul, etc and about reformed Christianity. Though Ray himself doesn't claim to be a Calvinist, I tend to embrace Calvinism

Definitely my favorite modem day pastor. I listen to John everyday. I think it's that he refuses to skip the most difficult, challenging, convicting and condemning passages and verses of the Bible that too many pastors gloss over or outright bypass altogether. Jesus Christ is much more than the friend many make Him out to be. He is Lord, God, King and Master and John refreshingly reminds us of that time and time again. He brings the true Jesus out of the Bible to teach and remind us all of who that man on the cross was and who's sitting at the right hand of the Father now. I'll always appreciate the wealth of knowledge and wisdom I've received from MacArthur's teachings.

My favourite too by a country mile! Salvation is a work of the Holy Spirit but John MacArthur's preaching has transformed my life and thinking in every way. It's like night and day. A close second for me is John Piper. His humility and obviously all encompassing love for, and dedication to the Gospel stirs my own spirit. Have a listen to his recent ebook on the Coronavirus. It is immensely edifying. We should pray for God to guard and protect both of these faithful and precious servants. What a blessing they are to the Church.

When I think of John MacArthur, 2 Timothy 4:2 comes to mind immediately. He definitely deserves to be number one on your list based on his love/fear of God and the way he faithfully preaches the Word. He is not perfect, but he is consistent as a man of God. My top ten pastors/preachers/teachers/theologians outside of the pastors I am under at my own church: 1. John MacArthur-steadfast, solid Bible preacher; no frills, all scripture, and a heart for the Lord. 2. Steve Lawson-perhaps one of the best examples of expository preaching you will find. 3. Paul Washer-passionate preacher that exhorts, reproves, and rebukes for the body of Christ. 4. Voddie Baucham-preaching that ties the truth of scripture in with logic; very whimsical as well. 5. Richard Caldwell-pastor of Founders Baptist Church, not as well known, but good, insightful preacher. 6. R.C. Sproul-I enjoy his teaching more so than his preaching; very knowledgeable in the scriptures. 7. Justin Peters-While known more for being a master polemics teacher (exposing false teachers); he also can preach. 8. Josh Buice-Known as the founder of the G3 conference; he is a good, expository preacher. 9. James White-Apologetics is his strong suit; he defends the faith in debates and is very knowledgeable. 10. Phil Johnson-I know many just think of him as MacArthur's right hand man, but he is a solid preacher. Honorable mention goes to Conrad Mbewe, John Piper, Anthony Kidd, Jeff Noblit, Costi Hinn, and Marc Breashear. There are really many good preachers/teachers of the Word. Thank God we have access to these men through our technology.

Great video. I have been listening to John Mac for the past two years or so. Prior to stumbling upon him on KZbin, I was a fairly uneducated Arminian (and charismatic false teachings mixed in) with tons of questions about alot of scripture. John's sermons have helped me tremendously. Along with Justin Peters, Steve Lawson, Voddie Bacham, Paul Washer, John Piper, and Jeff Durban. I never used to believe in Calvin's belief about predestination and limited atonement; but there are so many scriptures that back this belief up. I just cannot see where we, as a wretched, depraved sinner can initiate our salvation. I believe that God is taking the blinders off of me. I view the Bible and the world a whole lot differently than I used to, thanks and glory to God for giving preachers like John to listen to and learn from.👍🏻🙏

I am grateful to God for Pastor John McArthur; I'm always blessed to listen to him - Sola-Scriptura-Pastor-I-trust-God-to-be-like in my generation - certainly Christlike. Here's my story: When I first understood this issue, I embraced all 5 points of Calvinism. Later, I was a 3 pt Calvinist. I temporarily agreed with Armenians on unlimited atonement and resistible grace. Later I read John Piper and prayed a lot regarding TULIP. I returned to being a 5 pt Calvinist --> Total Depravity (T) is the foundation for the other 4 points ULIP. We're born so depraved that no one seeks God (Psalm 14:1-3; Romans 3:10-12). Salvation is 100% God and we cannot lose it! (John 10) It's encouraging to hear that others, like John MacArthur, have struggled with understanding and embracing the 5 points of Calvinism. I feel more at peace since re-embracing TULIP.

I have been listening to MacArthur's tapes for 47 years. I grew up in a non-Christian home. MacArthur is the closest thing that I have to a spiritual father. John Piper and the late RC Sproul have blessed me greatly too through the years.

It is evident from the many comments below and the story of my own family's escape from the false teachings of the word of faith movement, that God has mightily used John MacArthur across the world to further the gospel and 'set the captives free'. My first introduction to John MacArthur was finding his Grace to You channel and being amazed at his detailed bible expository. This is how the bible should be taught, read and understood. If I hadn't started listening to John MacArthur and Justin Peters I'd still be lost in the word of faith movment. I thank God for these men. I hope one day to be able to thank them in person.

@@PoliteLeader I have the outmost respect for the man, especially because he was a breath of fresh air after the experience with a church of tares. It was John MacArthur, Paul Washer, Steve Lawson and others that came as proof that the doctrines I was getting from the Bible, in spite of the false teaching all around me, were all true. To me John MacArthur is a great blessing, even though I do not agree in every area, and I am very confrontational about it. I am aware of the fact that the man has more experience and knowledge though. Absolute love, respect and a teachable heart when it comes to John MacArthur.

I always look forward particularly to this series . I suspected that John MacArthur would be number one . He is amazing and has been a massive influence on my life. Along with the late great R.C. They're the tools in the hands of the Master, who uses according to His choosing. Geographically, we might be ascribed to different nations, but behold, now we're a Nation with One Husband. I worked in Christian radio for years, and Grace to You was the first exposure I ever had to John MacArthur. I came to greatly respect him as one of the great Bible teachers of our time. I personally do not agree with him on every subject, but do appreciate his approach and teaching.

I do agree he is a good teacher and has done a lot for the church as a whole but I just don’t agree with cessation theology. Not wanting to start a debate but I just don’t understand how someone can go back to the Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic texts and not believe that the gifts of The Holy Spirit are for today, we serve a living God and if he’s still living, would it not also be reasonable to believe he is still speaking? I believe the The Holy Spirit is working in the church and in the people of God today, and will continue until our Lord Jesus Christ returns. I believe that having an intellectual faith is important but why would you not want more? Faith in Jesus Christ should be more than just an intellectual understanding of religious text. Much love and respect for my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ! Search out and study the scriptures for yourselves, for we are all called to work out our own salvation, with fear and trembling before a Holy God. 🙏🏻💜

Any preacher that removes the works of the Holy Spirit which is the power of God is leading a dead church and is teaching doctrines of demons. We are to walk as Jesus walked and to teach anything else is to destroy the true power of the Gospel of Christ

isaac cisneros God did say everything he needed to in scripture, it is Spirit breathed I’m not arguing that, I’m saying if you feel God, The Holy Spirit speaking to you, we are to “test the spirits” yes? So if it is backed by scripture it IS from God. And I fear that people who say things like this are elevating God’s word above God himself. We worship God, The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit NOT God the Father, the Son and The Holy Bible. Who are we as humans to say what the Holy Spirit can/cannot do? He is far beyond our comprehension.

Pastor John McArthur is the only man of God I now listen to , his uncompromising style , courage , refusal to bow down before the PC world today is so rare , it cannot be found anywhere in politics , it is a 100% commitment to the Truth , I believe him , I believe what he says , and I thank the Almighty there are men like him in the world .
