After a family suicide I had a total breakdown and was put on Xanax which I became addicted to. I thank God for saving me from that evil drug and helping to mend my heart also from the loss. I’m so happy to hear your testimony. God bless you edit: God actually showed me a path to healing (running) and I ran my first full marathon last year in honour of the family member I lost. I witnessed many miracles from that time.

I was growing up as Catholic in Korea and always fear of God that I will never be perfectly holy . My grandma hates my mother so much that she never look at my mother straight . My grandmother wakes up early morning and lights candle to pray to Virgin Mary and gave half of her incomes to Catholic Church but let me and my other six siblings be hungry and hardly had school clothes . She had a religious activity but didn’t have power . I came to U.S and starting to studied the Bible and knew we are only saved by the grace alone . My grandmother passed away at aged of 86 from stomach cancer and three days before she witnessed three demons tried to enter her bedroom window . She screamed for help and asked my mother to forgive her for many years of cruelty and died in peace . Praise God for His mercy upon my grandmother that Holy Spirit brings her conviction of her sins and saved her through the blood of Christ shedding for her sins .

From someone who was brought up in the RC and loved God, this is spot on. The one thing you didn’t highlight is that from my childhood memories of religious teachings GRACE had to be purchased with good works and participation in sacraments. One could not be sure that they had done enough to be saved. When I heard the biblical Gospel for the first time I was amazed and I am still awed by the fact the Jesus did everything. Praise God that he rescued me from the clutches of that diabolical institution.

Ephesians 2 8:9 demonstrates our works do not save us. Works as stated are a result of that salvation. I was born and raised Roman Catholic. I believed if I just did what was required by the church I could do as I wish, but after reading the bible and prayer I have come to realize that I never truly believed in Christ until I was born again. James 2:14-26 New King James Version Faith Without Works Is Dead(A) 14 (B)What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 (C)If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and (D)one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” (E)Show me your faith without [a]your works, (F)and I will show you my faith by [b]my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is [c]dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works (G)when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see (H)that faith was working together with his works, and by (I)works faith was made [d]perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, (J)“Abraham believed God, and it was [e]accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called (K)the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, (L)was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Question, what would we have to say to someone who acknowledges and believes sola fide, but believes contrary on another doctrine(women pastors, evolution, the level or lack thereof with relation to spiritual gifts etc) because some would say those are secondary issues and I believe that the implication is that also long as there’s agreement on the essentials of salvation, who Jesus is, and the triune Godhead then no other topic has bearing and therefore people should be free to believe whatever they want that’s “non essential” and not be called a false teacher... am I missing something or are do I need a link to see if there’s something else that counts as essential

I was saved at age 13 on a Christian (Protestant) camp, but somehow found my way to the Roman Catholic church and stayed there from age 16-24. I was a huge fan of the singer Rebecca St.James whose music was all about how God forgives us our sins, He loves us, we must seek to live according to His will...basically the Gospel, plain and simple! But her texts and talks on how "There's nothing we can do that will make God love us more or less" really collided with what I felt in the Roman Catholic church: "You're never really enough. You sin, you can go to Confession and be forgiven, but you're never really gonna be enough". Eventually, I left and I didn't look back. After spending time in the Baptist and Pentecostal church, I am now a member of the local Anglican church, where the Gospel is solidly preached every Sunday.

Eastern Orthodox here: We affirm that Mary is free of personal sin, but deny the Immaculate Conception. We affirm that she was taken bodily into Heaven, but only after she died. We call her the Queen of Heaven, but do not use terms such as "co-mediatrix" and "co-redemptrix." The RCC takes everything too far. While Catholic iconography and statuary has no problem depicting the Theotokos by herself, Orthodox iconography rarely depicts her without her Son, for it is primarily because she bore the Lord God in her womb that we honor her. Other than that, our beliefs regarding Mary are basically the same. Regarding soteriology, the paradigm of "grace vs. works" does not exist in Orthodoxy; our view of salvation is not comparable to either the Catholic or Protestant models. This is because we do not believe that Grace is merely God's disposition toward believers or something like that, but rather, we believe that Grace is God Himself, that is, His Energy. It is primarily through the Sacraments (of which we have at least seven - I can clarify if you wish) that this Grace is communicated, and it is by our cooperation with that Grace that we are made pure and healed of our sin. In other words, salvation is attained by God working through us, transforming us, and healing us. Although the legal aspect of penalism is present in Orthodox theology, it is by far not the emphasis; rather, we view sin as a sickness that needs to be healed so that we may once again become partakers of the Divine Nature, which is Life, the purpose for which we were made. Salvation is primarily a healing process, not a legal process. It is a journey toward God, not a single moment in which God flips a switch and we receive eternal life.

luigi di benedetto Christ founded the Catholic Church on Peter and the apostles. The apostle’s were Catholics and the church is Catholic. If you do not trust the Catholic Church then there is no point in trusting the New Testament. The Bible does not tell you what books belong in the Bible. The Catholic Church determined that. The effect cannot be greater than the cause. The scriptures were NEVER intended to supplant the role of the church. They are SUPPLEMENTAL WRITINGS for the Church’s oratory.

The problem with this is that relying on the Bible alone inevitably produces disagreements and splintering. Look at Christianity today and how many different denominations there are. All of them with slightly to greatly different views that they will use the Bible to justify and claim they are right on. There is no way to prove one right over the other in many cases since each will claim to have been led by the Holy Spirit to interpret the word that way. Even Martin Luther lamented on his death bed how fractured his movement had become. The Bible as we know it also wasn't in existence for most of the early Church. Even the earliest writings of the NT didn't come about until about 20 years after Jesus ascended. Likewise, the official canon of the Bible was formally decided on in the late 300s, decades after Christianity had been legalized in Rome. For the first few centuries, most Christians wouldn't have had access to all the books of the NT. Meanwhile, we have ample evidence of distinctly Catholic practices before that time. St. Ignatius of Antioch (a student of St. John the Apostle) wrote affirming transubstantiation and the existence of Bishops as did many other Church Fathers around this time. We have intercessory prayers to saints written on catacomb walls from the 200s. The early Church was Catholic. Even the idea of Mary holding a role so close to Christ harkens back to the queen mother in the time of the Judaic Kingdom.
@bridgefin
@bridgefin 4 жыл бұрын
Interesting that the author is set to condemn to Hell a major segment of Christianity on HIS interpretation of Scripture while arguing that no man can be sure to understand scripture without error. If the pope can't be infallible than neither can he. And for the record, the Catholic Church agrees that we are saved only by grace and we can no nothing to save our selves outside of grace. One needs to be very careful as there are very different understandings of terms when it relates to faith, works, and justification. In fact when evangelicals and Catholics got together to try to better understand their differences on this they found, to their surprise, that they actually were very, very close in their understanding. I suggest you read their document "Evangelicals and Catholics Together" published in May of 1994. I am surprised that you mentioned both Mary's Immaculate Conception and Assumption since Luther taught both. The only reason that the Church defined these doctrines in later centuries was because Protestants started speaking against these doctrines. That required a confirmation of their truth to avoid confusion, not because these were new doctrines. And I trust you understand that if Luther got some doctrines wrong then that contradicts that he had any sort of Divine Authority to restart Christianity. Human make mistakes and not God. And Mary is not elevated above Christ, but she leads us quickly to Christ. And if you disagree with purgatory then tell me what will happen to you between your sinful life here and the fact that nothing impure enters Heaven (Rev. 21:27)? In summary, as usual, it is misunderstanding and not fact which mostly separates us.

Allen,do you have any opinion on what Paul says in Galatians about being circumcised and obligated to obey all the law for those who were circumcised as babies? I guess what I mean by that is this; I was circumcised as a baby and wasnt raised in a Christian home or upbringing. I came to salvation, through Christ only a few short years ago. So does Paul's exhortation about the law and circumcision apply to me and those like me?

I was Catholic for 20-30 years; I had no bible knowledge at all. We had a suicide in our family & I went to the bible instead of my church. I started to see many differences in what the bible said & what I was taught. Jesus had a few brothers James & Jude at least who did not believe at first. Also at least one sister. Which tells me Mary was no longer a virgin. Mary also brought a sin offering to the alter. I also see Apostle Paul going to Rome & Peter stayed with the jews in Jerusalem, That doesn't mean he never went, but what I see if there was a Pope in Rome it had to be Paul. Peter & Paul both died around the same year. up & until this time no one in Rome except the church of Rome Paul wrote to even excepted Christianity. We will see Mother Mary in Heaven but not as the Queen of Heaven like I use to think. She is there because Jesus died for her as well as the rest of us.

I would strongly suggest you read the Church Fathers when reading scripture. There is a wonderful app called catena which makes it even easier. It connects each passage to writings from various leaders in the early Church who would have been closely acquainted with the time and languages. It makes for a lot better of an experience since the Bible has been translated hundreds of times from various languages over the years. For instance, the siblings of Christ you refer to are largely regarded even by secular historians to be cousins since the original word for this makes no distinction between the two.

I was talking about the history of Roman Catholicism, specifically in the 16th Century & they completely denied their own history. Based on how my family reacted, I knew they weren't saved but I also have met "Catholics" who are saved (Based on Biblical Evidence). You can be saved & have terrible theology & be in error when it comes down to sacraments & traditions of Church History. So, it really comes down to 1 question & it is the same question our Lord asked Nicodemus in John 3, "Are You Born-Again?". Once again, another amazing video! Great Job on this video. Liam Blumeris you are born again when you accept what Jesus did on the cross for you and you truly repent of all your sins and put your trust in Him. You are then saved (justified) washed clean of your sins by His blood and you are given His righteousness through no works of your own. The Holy Spirit will dwell in you and the process of being sanctified will start. Philippians 1:6 - « ...He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ... ». Study the Bible which contributes greatly to your sanctification. You will find out that you will now be doing good works not to get saved, but out of love for God. One evidence that you are born again is your transformation. The change in you.

A Catholic who is born and raised as such DOES NOT NEED TO BE BORN AGAIN for they were born into the inheritance of Christ. Catholics already believe in Jesus so to ask them to be born again is redundant and misleading. Nicodemus, as with most in that region at the time of Christ were Jews. So many Catholics allow themselves to be talked into this pledge of "Asking Jesus to be their Lord and Savior" when their belief already has done that. Catholics of little faith are given a guilt trip to make that pledge because they agree with the faulty reasoning that they haven't committed to Jesus of their own free will instead of seeing that they were born INTO His Holy family. When a child is born to a king and Queen he/she is a royal heir, there is no grey area, there is no expectation that they should come of age and OF THEIR OWN FREE WILL CONFESS a desire to be an heir; they already are.

The Roman system is a perfect example of what happens when you don’t follow Sola Scriptura. When you make tradition on par with the Bible, you get the Roman system: a hodgepodge of doctrines that have nothing to do with the real gospel. Rome likes to say that Sola Scriptura has created confusion among Protestants. But how is the Roman system of works and grace better than that? Why is the addition of hundreds of doctrines that are extra biblical a good thing? And, once you begin to add doctrines, where do you stop? The idea that we should trust the Magisterium obviously ignores human nature. Whenever man is given power, he will abuse it. Exhibit A: the papacy!!!!
@davidkprice

Sola Scriptura is nowhere taught in the Bible but is a tradition of man and Protestants.
@miket9738
@miket9738 4 жыл бұрын
@@davidkprice A friend of mine sent me the following which I believe says it succinctly and accurately: The "sola scriptura" position basically asserts that the Bible is the sole source of Christian authority for faith and practice. Catholics elevate the Magisterium, to a position superior to scripture. I think II Tim 3:16 pretty much devastates the RC position. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." My question to RC's is "what part of thoroughly furnished unto all good works" don't you understand? Add to that scripture's function of doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. Now at the very least something like "sola scriptura" is asserted clearly. I think one is forced to concede that the primacy of scripture in doctrine, good works, etc. is in plain view here. This seems to me to leave no room for the so-called Magisterium of Roman Catholicism to usurp authority from scripture in pursuit of it's made-up doctrinal preferences. Another thing to remind a RC is that not all truths are taught with a crystal clear proof-text way. The Trinity for example is a doctrine we extrapolate from comparing scripture with scripture....but no verse uses the word "Trinity" or asserts the Trinity distinctively; save in I John 5:7,8 which some disparage as an unreliable text. At any rate, I am not convinced that we need a compendium of proof texts to establish the supremacy of scripture. Did not our Lord recognize scripture as authoritative in His earthly ministry? Or did He go to his version of the Magisterium among the rabbis or at the temple, etc. to seek out their "authority" over that which was written? We both know the answer to that. Verses like Matthew 15:3 (and there are a few of them) must be considered. "But he answered and said unto them, why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?" It seems obvious to me that the danger among religious men is that they will substitute extra-biblical so-called "truths" for biblical ones. In other words, religious men have a propensity to substitute their traditions for God's word. This seems to me the heart of the RC practice. Isn't it obvious that Christ magnifies the authority of God's word OVER the traditions of the religious men of His day? But the RC would say we ought to submit to the extra-biblical doctrinal declarations of religious men that counter clear teachings of His scripture/word. We Baptists and Protestants who believe in sola scriptura, do have and encourage certain traditions. We are hardly churches without traditions. I could name 30 or 40 traditions lacking clear command, or more in 10 minutes if challenged to do so. But we do not attach infallibility to them. Not even to the best of them.
@davidkprice

@@miket9738, I believe the actual meaning of the passage requires contextual clarification. Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good work." When this was written, it's important to realize the New Testament canon as we have it today had not been assembled yet. In other words, the passage from St. Paul here to Timothy refers to Old Testament scriptures. Please, Mike, I would kindly invite you to watch this brief talk recently given by Marcus Grodi, a former Presbyterian (I forget which one of the 9 Presbyterian denominations) minister: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZ3Ke3t8rqika9E As far as Jesus "magnifying the traditions" of men in authority over God's Word, I respectfully disagree. In Matthew 23:2, we read this, Jesus' words here. It seems plain to me, at least, Jesus is, in fact, referring to the "magisterium" of His day, and He does not mince words about it. "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach." I suppose we all have to follow some kind of "tradition(s)" whether we like it or not. The question for me is, by what authority is any tradition originated and then handed on? Even the New Testament canon refers to a "tradition," often overlooked by my Protestant brothers and sisters, and one I never noticed before I became Catholic: 2 Thessalonians 2:15: "So then, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter."

@The Bibliognost on the surface you present a very reasonable argument, however "reasonable application" of any scripture alone (Sola Fide) leaves an authoritative, interpretational vacuum precisely on what is "reasonable" and "applies" it seems to me. This "one-legged" stool thus falls into tens of thousands of Christian denominational fragments, to say nothing of innumerable one-man self-appointed "authorities" spanning decades of this, "me, my Bible and Jesus" theology.

I know you're postmillinial, but I want to know if you believe the vatican to be an extension of the roman empire? As an amillenial, I'm starting to lean that way. Nero being the beast, and the popes being modern day emperors from that ancient line. The 7 heads in revelation is the seven hills, which the vatican/ rome sits upon. Just curious. Thank buddy for all you're doing for the gospel!

This is a very common and very "American" mistake. We "Murican's love to read the Gospel as though it was written in 21st century English, by 21st century Americans, with a 21st century understanding and outlook on the world, politics and religion. SO, Gosh! I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the books we call the "New Testament" were all written down between ~50-90 AD, by former Jews who had accepted Christ - the first generation of Catholics. And they wrote those books down in the "lingua franca" of their day - Koine Greek. The English language would not be created for another 7+ centuries. The Seven Hills in the Bible indeed are the Seven Hills of Rome, and Nero is indeed referenced in the Apocalypse. At the time, the First Century AD, Rome was the world's single great "Super-Power" and was a decidedly Pagan empire. At the time of God's revelations to St. John (circa 90 AD), which he wrote down now and appear as the last book of the Bible, Rome had destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem and dispersed the population (circa 70 AD). The Romans were also Actively murdering Christians across the Empire, as the Christian Faith was illegal, and would remain so until the 4th century. The mythology that St. John, a Catholic, was condemning his own Church (which didn't openly exist in Rome for another 200+ years, but instead worshiped in secrecy) is an absurdity invented by zealous Protestants in the 17th and 18th centuries.

@@TomLandry1 I respect your opinion on the subject. However, believing the bishop of Rome is an extension of the Roman emperor and antichrist is not an "American" invention. Both Luther and Calvin (not American) believed that the pope was the man of sin. This is certainly in line with the historical reformed position. And based on the blasphemy that is Rome, it's easy to relate it to Scripture.

Wanted to let you know about some errors in your chart. The Orthodox Church does not belong under the Roman Catholic Church- as something that broke away from the Roman Church. It should be considered as the Early Christian Church. There were 5 main centers of the early church- Alexandria, Constantinople, Antioch, Jerusalem, and Rome- all in communions with each other with the same dogma, beliefs, etc. Then as time passed, Rome began instituting some changes that the other 4 Churches never accepted. The general date for the great schism is 1054, where Rome separated herself from the other 4. And then you list 3 Orthodox Church as if they are separate entities [and leaving out many Orthodox in the list],. All Orthodox Church are part of one Church, with various jurisdictions, all in communions with each other with identical dogma. It would be better just to have the Orthodox Church box, without then listing the Serbian, Greek, and Russian Churches [and you left out the Church of Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem, Romania, etc. ] which gives the impression that there are different Churches, which is not true.

If you actually knew FACT, doctrines and history you would know that 1. protestantism comes from Martin Luther and not from Jesus and 2. The gospel and the Bible BOTH existed many centuries before the protestrant revcolt ever took place and they BOTH came from the CATHOLIC Church and both the bible and the gospel includes MARY which you try to IGNORE, thus creating a false gospel. Interesting look at difference between denominations. Catholics are not justified by the law. We obtain grace freely from Christ and cannot possibly pay him back for it. A life of puposeful faith is one that sows and reaps. That is the Catholic teaching of justification. We cannot justify ourselves without the grace of God. As the "Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification" states; “We confess together that all persons depend completely on the saving grace of God for their salvation . . . for as sinners they stand under God’s judgment and are incapable of turning by themselves to God to seek deliverance, of meriting their justification before God, or of attaining salvation by their own abilities. Justification takes place solely by God’s grace." Maybe there is a difference between Catholic Doctrine and Catholic practice? Would be interested in your thoughts. -RL

@perfectsnaitang 4 жыл бұрын
The joint declaration is a compromise on both sides. It doesn't represent both the Roman Church or the Lutheran Church accurately. They're just compromising *in order that they may not be persecuted for the Cross of Christ* (Gal 6:12). Read the council of Trent for your doctrine and you will find that RCC anathematizes the Gospel of justification by grace alone through faith alone.

Good Friday made up can’t be possible, Jesus was dead three nights and three days same as Jonah in the Whale’s belly. We should say special thanks on the Wednesday not Friday. We should observe the Sabbath on a Saturday. Could go on, some people don’t agree, about the Sabbath but in my heart I know it’s the right thing to do and it’s a Commandment after all. God bless

Folk are caught up in religious systems through fear, superstition and tradition. Any individual who searches God word with an open repentant heart will find the truth.God in His infinite love will not withhold His light from the repentant seeker. It is the gospel of the whosoever will may come, of the whosoever believeth. Accepting and acknowledging that truth, the believer can stand justified by simple faith alone. I do however find it difficult to comprehend how anyone in any form of hellish system can remain within such a system after receiving greater light and greater understanding..

i have a question. what if a Christian messes up, a bad business deal, takes a deposit, and doesn't do the job. later, he or she wants to make things right, and pay the money back? would this be considered 'EARNING ' salvation, or would it just be the right thing to do?
@lightninlad
@lightninlad 4 жыл бұрын
@Boxing For Fitness It would be considered making restitution. If you do not make the amends now, you WILL make them later in Purgatory: (Matthew 25:25-26) “25Reconcile quickly with your adversary, while you are still on the way to court. Otherwise, he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into 👉prison. 26Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.” Notice that this prison is NOT Hell, because people don’t get out of Hell. It is also referenced by St.Paul here: (1 Corinthians 3:15) “If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” As well as the Prophet Isaiah: (Isaiah 6:6) “6Then flew one of the seraphims 👼 unto me, having a live 🔥 coal in his hand 🖐 , which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin 👉purged.” So there you go. Now ask yourself, is Rome pedaling a “false gospel” or is Polite Leader giving you a “false message” about Catholicism?

@@savedbygrace8867 good idea. What I've had the most difficulty with Roman Catholics is trying to break dogmas and traditions. They will boldly tell you tradition is as (if not more so) inspired than Scripture Alone. My best strategies have been to use Scripture as you say, as well as pointing out how their traditions have been contradictory since the conception of Rome. 3 popes at one time, mary and a co-redemtrix, as well as the numerous synods and councils. Rome is scary and intimidating. But I've also found its adherants to be faithful to profession of being RC than faithful to Gods Word. Give them enough rope through conversation and theyll hang themselves with it every single time.
