Congratulations! You're the first KZbin watercolour channel I subscribed to 4 years ago when I started using watercolour paints in my artwork. I learn a lot from your videos and visited "8 favourite colours" video numerous times (together with other videos) to learn again and again. Just recently I visited the 8 favourite video again, wishing there was a set available from m.graham selected by you. I couldn't believe it when I found this video this morning. I will add what I am missing from these 10 colours and will be looking forward to your tutorial with the palette. Thank you so much for your effort in making invaluable videos for such a long time.

I found your video from 5 years ago when I first started learning watercolour, it introduced me to M. Graham (which turned out to be one of the most affordable high quality brands where I live) and what are still some of my favourite colours. I love your new set and can't wait to see what you make with it in the future! Thank you for the wonderful content.

Congratulations Steve! Putting a palette together with a manufacturer is an accomplishment many artists strive to do. I have all of these colors in DaVinci paints. I have the neutral tint because I duplicated Denise Soden’s (In Liquid Color) Wildlife Palette. It was the first time I ever used a neutral tint paint in watercolor! I sometimes still feel a bit lazy not mixing my own, but it sure is an incredible time saver and making painting more enjoyable is a good thing! I am looking forward to seeing you create some paintings and videos featuring your custom palette. I believe that you never stop learning about painting, well if you want to be better that is, I still have a lot to learn. Yes, even after 30+ years of painting I am Learning and I thank you and others for sharing your expertise with others here on the Tube! I did catch your possibilities at towards the end of this video any other options?

Thanks Steve! I'm not in a position to get this set right now, but you inspired me to recreate it from my stash. It took several hours of pigment and brand comparisons to come up with a facsimile. The hardest was substituting for PY110 Indian Yellow. I came up with PY65 Perm Yellow Deep from the Mijello Pure Pigments. The most fun I had was mixing PV19 & PG7 to come up with a comparable neutral tint. There's so many great darks one can mix with those two pigments, gorgeous. I'm going to do the mixes on the subsequent videos for this set with the palette I created (mix of DS, Mijello Gold PP, Maimeriblu) and see what I learn. It was hard to find a good good comp for the M Graham Quin Rose btw. Maybe one day I can compare your M. Graham set to this one, I look forward to that. Thanks for all the teaching you do and for covering the basics! Say hi to Reese 😊

Three years and nineteen days after you posted this video, Steve, I was able to order the set from Wet Paint. Have never used M Graham so looking forward to trying the paints out. Congratulations Steve. I already purchased it when Wet Paint notified me (it's coming on Monday, so really fast service by Wet Paint, they're great!) I got your DS palette luckily, as it was sold out when I waited only 1 day, but Wet Paint did put together another batch. I'll probably add another blue and maybe another yellow (I live in the Southwest), though the green is an excellent choice (I actually add that one to my palette). It was a great price too for 15 ml tubes. Thanks, gave me a reason to get some more watercolors (lol) I have been meaning to get a set of MG paints (I tried a handmade dot card from ebay but had not decided on what colors so.....) I love that they're all single pigment too. Great choices.

Wow! Congratulations!💐 I remember the "old" video but M. Graham was then not available in Germany (at least I wasn't able to find)- But - lucky me - a local store now has the whole range AND they are only slightly more expensive than Schmincke Horadam (about 1USD per tube). I will surely try as I made first experience with honey based colours (Aquarius/Roman Szmal) and I like how easily they rewet.

Some people live in areas of high humidity and cannot use M. Graham, at least not in a travel pallette, because they never dry out enough to move.
@grannysmithart3 жыл бұрын
@@recoveringsoul755 i agree, it is a problem with this brand. I have a palette similar to Steve's, which i put at the bottom of my bag, laying flat so nothing spills. Of course if you are hiking or tossing your pack around, this isn't gonna work for you. Otherwise, M. Graham is a great brand.
@eileent89893 жыл бұрын
@@recoveringsoul755 I keep reading this, but I live in a notoriously humid area and have never had any sign at all of that problem with my 30 or so MG colors....studio or travel. In fact, MG itself is located in Portland, OR and many Portland artists use the brand. The owners of MG are watercolorists themselves and have been in Portland since the founding of the company. It's 100 degrees here today, very humid and my paints are just fine. Moreover, I've never even met anyone who has had that melting experience and I ask at every opportunity in case there are certain colors to avoid, but as I say, I can't find any MG victims :=) I wonder whether It is just an internet rumor. I remember someone ranting years ago about having the problem (handprint site?) and, since then, I've occasionally heard that opinion cited, but I can't remember anyone else ever stating that they spoke from personal experienceI. Steve has said that he doesn't have this problem either in South Carolina....studio or travel.. The internet gives everyone a soapbox, with a loud echo and strange results sometimes. My theory about the original rant is that he traveled with the paint in pans before the initial set-up drying time was completed. The blackberry honey does make the initial set-up period considerably longer about two weeks here. However, thereafter, the paints simply remain a tad softer at the center, compared to other brands, making it a joy to to touch with the brush from the first stroke of the day. I love using them. The honey is a natural anti-fungant and anti-bacterial. If the claims of runny paint were really true, I don't think that artists would put up with it. I wouldn't. No one would buy MG when there are so many decent alternatives. PlS. I'm going tohave towithdraw my assertion that I've never heard anyone complain from experience. There are some such people right here ! 😂
@recoveringsoul7553 жыл бұрын
@@eileent8989 I watch a pretty big channel in Singapore, and the humidity can be 95% or something crazy like that. He even has a dehumidifier in a cabinet with his sketchbooks or they start to grow mold. that's where I heard it and he seems pretty honest. I'm not sure at what percentage of humidity it would begin to be a problem, may be OK most places.
