The Head On The Door no doubt. I played the shit out of that album but I was a goth kid back then so it makes sense. Also Low Life was a huge one for me as well. Love and Rockets also for sure. The days of Aquanet and new wave hairdos.

A good chunk of my senior year in high school in your Top 14 from 1985: fantastic, Craig! Gene Loves Jezebel Immigrant and Discover are kick ass records. The Wolfgang Press I came to a few years later: awesome. Sing some more Head On The Door! 😎🎶

Loving these videos! 1985 is again, one of the best years for music EVER. Every single year from 1980-1985 are absolutely stunning. One major shock for me was your omission of what is widely considered by critics to be the best album of the 80's...Kate Bush's Hounds of Love. Maybe it's just not to your personal taste. I could see that. Thank you so much for including Dead of Alive's Youthquake...one of the best electro-disco albums ever (Pete is ON FIRE), the Cure's Head on the Door (a personal favorite), and the more obscure Wolfgang Press' Legendary (did you know they have a new reunion album coming out?). I also love how Cocteau Twins' Liz Frazier is on their cover of "Respect"...It's brilliant! So many other albums I love that you didn't mention, but I know you don't have enough space: Arcadia--So Red the Rose, Jesus & Mary Chain--Psychocandy, Cult--Love, Tom Waits--Rain Dogs, Suzanne Vega--Suzanne Vega, Yello--Stella, Prefab Sprout--Steve McQueen (Two Wheels Good), ABC--How to be a Zillionaire, Marc Almond--Stories of Johnny, and REM--Reckoning. These are so entertaining...and tough to do! Keep it up to the end...You'll have to do the 90's after this...whoa...

Great selections! OMD Crush is so weird and cool, gotta love it. My 1985 list includes the S. Africa comp “Indestructible Beat of Soweto”, Dinosaur Jr.’s first album (sludgy greatness), Dukes of Stratosphear “25 O’Clock” (technically a mini-album), The Chills The “Lost” EP (an EP, obv), and The Fall - This Nation’s Saving Grace. 1985 was also the year of REM’s Reconstruction of the Fables of the Reconstruction, UB40 Little Baggariddim (Don’t Break My Heart) and Talking Heads Little Creatures. Pretty good year for music! (oh yeah and Tom Waits - Rain Dogs)

I just bought the Simply Red album recently. I loved it back in the day. I’ve seen tons of copies for the last several years but it was finally time for me to pick up a copy and I love it.

Hi Craig, I cannot believe I don't have any Simply Red in my collection. I do like them quite a bit. I do see what you're saying about too jazzy though. It can be offputting for some. Seeing my current location, Dream Academy is kind of a mantra for me. This was a cool video. I mean, Love and Rockets... been a while since I've heard them. I've really got to get caught up on your video series! Cheers, Darryl.

Simply red had 3 great albums you could have used them as bands with 3 good albums or less videos
@CraigsVinylPlethora2 ай бұрын
@@markmclaren7577 maybe that was just the original line up for the first 3? Because there are 13 albums. I think Mick might be the only original member left but I’m not sure.
