The 0123 is great! When we were moving from one city to another here in Okinawa, we called up a couple companies for quotes. The 0123 guy showed up in person and the other company called us and it just so happened that the other people called at the exact time the 0123 guy was there. They had a price battle in real time in front of us until we finally started to feel bad that the price was getting so low and ended up just going with The 0123. They did the same thing with covering the walls and all that and the experience was great. My wife and I felt bad about how little they ended up charging us after that price battle so we made sure that the movers had stuff to drink (they wouldn't accept tips) and tried to help them as much as we could.

I'm so happy to see you have emergency food, Sharla! So many people don't bother keeping anything on hand for emergencies. The average person only has a few days of food on hand at best, and most grocery stores only have 2-3 days worth of food on hand at a given time. I feel like EVERYONE should have at the very least a week of food in their house at all times, if not 30 days. Even keeping a 25-pound of 50-pound bag of rice on hand can get a family through a rough time.

Edit: I LOVE THE COMPLETE HUNGARIAN BOOK! Should get one for my boyfriend :D Hope the study goes well! In Sweden it is actually very similar, just a little more casual. You can rent movers who will take everything, but you pack yourself, and they move it then, and they use covers and stuff to make sure it is not scratched or damaged, but small damages are expected. They also make sure your previous apartment is ok, which will be checked and approved (you need to make sure it is thoroughly cleaned before you give back the keys) but some scratches and damage is written down as "normal usage" so you don't need to fix everything, it is expected that with someone living in it, some things get used up. But otherwise it is quite strict and you need to make sure you do everything, you get a checklist of what needs potential fixing, etc.

This is really interesting after watching Joey's one (the anime man) the cataloguing process seems a bit odd. If Japanese are traditionally shy, why would they go into someone else home and make a list about it? For example (trying not to be NSFW here but genuinely asking) about "certain objects/topics" I.e in the case of Joey being "cultured anime collections" that are considered taboo. Do they just pass it off, or do they litterly look at every nook and cranny and then ask politely "if there is anything you wish to pack yourself". Any one living in Japan can educate me on this/is this me being neive/wrong misconceptions about Japan.
