Plumbers have a special wrench to remove those sections of pipe opening toward you. You are doing pretty well on your own but that old galvanized pipe can bleed heavy metal (Pb) and really should be replaced.

@@African.Diaspora.InLondonUKin your case I'd look to make a theme of it like mosaic 😅 these are quite standard tiles so its quite possible they still have the same color. Or make a backsplash of other materials like a bamboo sheet 🤷🏼♀️

Thats the issue, I wont replace the tiles where I've removed them but I might keep them on the other parts of the wall, so I just wanted to be safe since the kitchen plans are always changing. Much harder to try to put them back vs waiting to know what the final plan is

I don't think galvanised pipe causes any health issues but they tend to clog on the inside so eventually you'll have to replace them because the water flow slows down to a trickle. Of course they can also leak. I don't think he wants to keep the pipes long-term though.

The cemented in pipes seem to be a standard in parts of Europe. We are having similar issues with our old farmhouse here in Spain. All the electric cables are also cemented in. Thankfully, they all seem to have these small access boxes dotted all over the house, but if rewriting the whole house would be a huge headache. Good luck!
@My15KHouse Жыл бұрын
Makes no sense to me, especially with this house being clay its so easy to just add back what was channeled out instead of going with the hardest possible concrete. Electric must be so frustrating, luckily mine is all on the outside and masterfully camouflaged lol
@jamierothwell6789 Жыл бұрын
Well, the electric is interesting. In Spain, they don’t use the grey twin and earth type cable, it’s live, neutral and earth individually, then you have to thread them into a black corrugated tube, then you cement the whole thing into the wall. We also have the China stores too. All called things like Hyper China and Asia Palace, but none of the stuff is made in China 😂.
