So my son is 22 months naptime is supposed to be 12:30-2:30 but he really only sleeps from 1-2. Wakes at 6am and bedtime is at 7:30 but he doesn't go to bed until 8:15. Now he's waking twice a time. I'm not sure why. Could you do a sleep sack in a toddler bed?

Hi J, Yes you absolutely can use a sleep sack in a toddler bed, we recommend using them until around 3yrs old when they can learn to start tucking themselves under proper blankets. A 1hr nap at this age is totally fine but if your toddler is now waking more overnight I would try bringing bedtime back a little to 7pm to ensure he's not waking overnight due to overtiredness.

My daughter is 17 months old. I work 6am-2 pm so I unfortunately have to wake her up to take her to the babysitters at 5 am. So, her naps are going to be early in the morning for a few hours so by the time I get her from after work I try to keep her awake until bed time which is always by 7:30 or 6:30 the earliest. But she has been waking up 3--4 times a night lately and even last night she was wide awake at midnight talking and even playing with one of her stuffed animals she found in her crib. I took it away and let her know it was time to sleep and laid her back down. She cried for a bit and I left to the living room until she fell back asleep which she did after 10-15 minutes but it's exhausting I don't know what else to do during the week with my work schedule since she wakes up so early she has to nap early too but she too already dropped her second nap so she only naps once at the babysitter's so stretching her until bed time I'm sure is making her overtired.

Hi Andrea, If you are having to wake her up for the day at 5am you could try aiming on a 5am-6pm day so that she's not having too long awake before bed. That night waking is probably due to her being overtired. I'd aim for her nap to be 2-2.5hrs from around 11:30 and bedtime by 6pm

Hi My lo is 18 months old. He is getting up everyday hourly whole night and cries. Had breastfeed and sleeps. I don't think he gets up bcz of hunger. As If he sleeps @12 then wakes by 12:45 so within 1hr he should not get up bcz of hunger. Tried to give colic also. I am really worried. Could you plz tell me what could be the reason?

Hi Pallavi, if your toddler is waking hourly overnight or more than hourly that would indicate to us there us something bothering him, preventing him from getting good quality sleep. Ensure he's having an age appropriate amount of daytime sleep so he's not over tired. At this age we would be aiming on a 7-7 day with a good 2 hour nap across the middle of the day. Over or undertiredness can cause wakefulness like this overnight. Ensure he's not waking too hot or cold in his bedding - it can be difficult to sleep well of you aren't at a comfortable temperature. I'd try moving away from feeding to sleep if thats how you are settling him as that will now be a strong sleep association for him and he doesn't know how to go back to sleep without feeding. I would also have a chat with your gp to rule out any illness, allergies or intolerances that might be making him uncomfortable and so wakeful.

My daughter is 14months and has 1 nap a day 12-1:30 goes down by 6:30-7pm and still is waking up 3-4 times at night. Could she be overtired still?

Hi Ella, yes I would imagine so, we would be working in around 4.5 hrs between the last nap and bedtime. Our Toddler Program can help you put with the ideal nap timing, length and bedtimes Www.littleones.co/products/toddler

Any tips on how to adjust baby's day if we have night function (dinner party etc). My lo is 7.5mo, her day is usually 7am to 6.30-7pm. If we are to pushed bedtime to 8.30-9pm for 1 day, how should I structure her day?
@littleonesbabysleep
@littleonesbabysleep 4 жыл бұрын
Hiya, you could give her a longer afternoon nap that day to enable her to stay awake a little longer before bed or let her sleep in in the morning and run all your naps later.

@@littleonesbabysleep what about meals? Do I need to add in extra snacks or milk feed? And do I wake her up later the next day?
@littleonesbabysleep
@littleonesbabysleep 4 жыл бұрын
No you'd wake her at normal time next day. Meals wise if you are just giving a longer late nap you keep meals as per normal but feed a little later (but as normal) after the late nap. Ie. If you normally feed dinner at 5 but they're asleep until 5.30 feed dinner about 5.45/6pm and bedtime milk before bed

Hi! My LO is 19 months old and has to be up for the day at 7 am to go to daycare. Daycare naps are at 2-3:30 which is not ideal but we cannot change it, we have asked. We are struggling with EMW. Can you help? Any advice?

It sounds like they could be overtired. I would ask if the nap could move forward to 1pm and that would make a big difference x

What about if baby's bedtime is 9pm? She sleeps 9 to 9. She naps around 1230 to 230. But still wakes up every night around 3am for a bottle. She's 16 months old.

She could be overtired but also waking out of habit. For Little Ones, their most restorative sleep for their growth and development is between 12-2pm and 7-10pm and their natural circadian rhythm is 7-7. We don’t recommend adjusting more than 6-6 or 8-8. Our programs are based on a 7am-7pm day. If she is waking from her nap and bedtime is 9pm, she would be quite overtired come bedtime. Ideally bedtime would be 4.5 hours after waking from their nap. There are three main factors that trigger a habit waking response in us all: sunlight, food and communication. If your baby is used to getting food in the night it stimulates a body clock trigger, like an alarm clock, which will continue to go off at the same time each night. Try a rouse to sleep. Set an alarm for 1 hour before your baby would normally wake. You’d go into their room and rouse them slightly by touching their head or arm. They will surface out of their deep sleep but not wake fully and should reset back into the start of a new sleep cycle. Do this for a few days and they will stop waking at that time.

At this age, they don't nutritionally need that milk overnight. We have a very gradual and hands on method to help wean those milk feeds, in our program :) www.littleones.co/our-app
