Great video. There's a lot of disparity between advisors around the start of teething symptoms. I'm constantly coming across mums online convinced their baby has been teething for weeks, even months without a tooth erupting. Many say healthcare professionals have confirmed teething! But the research says teething symptoms appear shortly before a tooth erupts.

My fiance's mom told me that my daughter was teething when she was 3 weeks old because she put her hand in her mouth/drooled. 🙄 I even asked my daughters pediatrician at her 2 month appointment just to confirm that she wasn't and when I told her that the doctor said no she just ignored me and the next time we visited her she put a frozen teething toy in my daughter's mouth without asking me first and she started screaming. It's so frustrating to have someone not accept what you're telling them and give your child things without asking first! 😡 Sorry, rant over 🤣 (Thank you for this video, it's helping me identify when my daughter is ACTUALLY teething! 🤣)

I disagree with the fever part. My son had no teething symptoms whatsoever. But my daughter had terrible symptoms every time a tooth would come in; it would start 3 days prior, on day 4 the tooth would erupt, and then it would take another 3 days for the symptoms to settle. That’s irritability, crying, drooling, and rash for a whole week, and fever for at least a day- every.single.time. I don’t know why I keep hearing this “no fever” hypothesis and what exactly it’s based on. If it’s the idea that fever and high temperature are 2 separate things, and it’s not really a fever until it goes over 38 degrees Celsius, fine. But it’s just as uncomfortable for baby and parent, whatever you choose to call it, and the sleepless nights are the same, whether the temperature is just below or just above 38 (which doesn’t mean much anyway since my base temp is 36 and my daughter’s isn’t far off, and for me personally, 38 is unbearable). There’s simply no denying that they can have high temperature and it’s a direct cause of the teething. I was very in tune with my daughter and could read her cues and make out what she needed based on mere inflections in her “ma”/“me” sounds. Every jet lag, cold, or other infection I would anticipate from her behaviour alone and be ready to deal with it when fever or other symptoms hit. Her reaction to the teething was no different to an illness. Except she wasn’t ill, as would be confirmed by her baby tooth poking out on day 4. Again, my son breezed through every teething without so much as a rash. There was no fussiness whatsoever. On the rare occasion he had high temperature, it was caused by an illness. I think doctors need to study these reactions in babies more thoroughly before they dismiss parents, and rethink the whole 38 degree threshold approach. Having to deal with 20 teething fevers in 3 years- that’s no joke.
@esdeath87133 жыл бұрын

Hello i love your videos! In your video about floor seats you have a lot of people asking about the Upseat, which claims to be designed by physical therapists. Could you please respond to these people with your thoughts on this floor seat? I had never considered buying a bumbo or anything but I had considered buying an Upseat because they claim to be designed to promote hip development and proper posture.
@EmmaHubbard3 жыл бұрын
Hi @Sasha personally i have not use the Upseat with any of my clients. Generally I do not recommend floor seats l because this sometimes lead to babies being placed in the sitting position before they are ready. From what I have seen of the upseat and read I would say it is better then the other floor seats because it places the baby's hips slightly forward (anterior tilt) which ensures the baby does not adopt a curved back (however if your baby is sitting with a curved back they are not yet ready to sit up in these floor seats). There does appear to be a bit of space around the baby's trunk when sitting in the Upseat which means they can work on correcting their body posture if they fall very slightly off centre. I would always recommend a high chair over a floor seat for mealtimes because your baby can use it for years and sit at the dining table with the family which is important when learning to eat solids. Overall the features of the Upseat do appear better than other floor seats but personally I would use that money to purchase a god high chair and other developmental toys.
