I had an A10 with sidecar back in 1980 in the UK, great fun.

Oh my Lord this so took me back some 65 years when our family had the same rig but the bike and chair was finished in gold. We would travel to a location and then take the machine off road and went to places you couldn't get to in a car. Many happy days sitting in the middle of nowhere with picnic and stove, Lords of all we surveyed.

I can confirm that as a boy in the 1950s, my Dad had a Golden Flash and sidecar. I sat in the back and Mum was in the front. As I recall Dad didn’t allow me to ride on the pillion ☺️Thanks for a nice video.

My dad had an identical outfit when I was a young boy. Mum used to sit in the front of the sidecar and I’d stand in the back with my head out. Loved it!

I had the same one in 1971, I believe the model of the sidecar is 'Canterbury', mine had a sort of 'trapdoor' in the floor, for maintenance I think. I also had a Norton ES2 with a 'bullet' sidecar, would have one now in a heartbeat if I could afford one. Great machine, thanks for posting, brought back some happy memories.

I could tell you some stories from my time as a 'Rocker' lol we used to stand on the seat and ride to show off to the girls, and many more things, would love to go back to those days even for just a week. Btw I still have my leather jacket and studded belt, o happy days, I am 66 now and still a 'Rocker' at heart.

Thanks for this it brought back lots of memories. In the 50s and early 60s My dad had a BSA M21 (think that’s right) with sidecar which was a side valve and later updated to a Gold Flash. Travelled all round Wales in it, me and my sister in the front and my big sister in the back with mum on the pillion. When I was on my own dad would let me stand up with my toy rifle pretending I was on a stage coach.

My father had the A7 (500) and this was our family transport for many years. With my dad driving mum in the sidecar me and my sister in the back …. Fond memories indeed 👍

I have a 58 flash too. Huge amounts of the A10's were hitched to a chair, but when the mini-car came along in 1959, it sort of killed the sidecar off.
@hook9374 жыл бұрын
The price of the mini was low enough that people quickly made the switch. At least there are some A10's still out and about

These large sidecars were popular in the UK ine 50s and 60s, As you say, Man rides solo, gets married,wife rides pillion, kids come along so sidecar is fitted. I used to a guy and his family go out on one of these in the 60s. Wife on the back of the bike and 3 [or more] small kids in the sidecar, mostly standing up and looking out of the sun roof.

Hello, you have The Watsonian Kenilworth Saloon Double Adult Sidecar with The V.G Chassis which you could also have with a Brake as an option. The Kenilworth Sidecar with V.G Chassis was £96 and 10 shilling including tax. All Watsonian Sidecar's had a Black and Gold Plaque inside on the front timber which would have a letter ie: R (which is 1964) then a set of number like 9 22 (which is 9th Month September and then the day 22nd it was completed/build) So: 1950-59 = A/50, B/51, C/52, D/53, E/54, F/55, G/56, H/57, K/58, L/59 1960-69 = M/60, N/61, P/62, Q/63, R/64, S/65,T/66, U/67, V/68, W/69 1970-79 = X/70, Y/71, Z/72, A/73, B/74, C/75, D/76, E/77, F/78, G/79 1980-89 = H/80, J/81, K/82, L/83, M/84, N85, P/86, R/87, S/88, T/89 1990-93 = U/90, V/91, W/92, X/93. Watsonian is still going and now called Watsonian-Squire if you google them as they are very helpful and carry a lot of archieves for most of the Sidecars they have built over the years. Regards John (ex RAF)
