Good morning! I just want you to know that I really appreciate what you're doing to help get the younger generation hooked on these classic cars. I fear the day when all the good old guys are gone and the younger generation haven't filled their shoes. So thank you from Alf's Mustang Garage.

I did did brakes in rear of my 67 cougar, hand brake is useless now and there is NO different in brakes I live by San Francisco and with these hills this city is the real test for brakes my friends, but they look cool! SSBC kit ,did a lot of part changes in engine compartment two different master cylinders much brakes lines two brake bos but a wildwood master helped a lot, brakes are on the hard side, thanks! P.S I'm a retired mechanic too and you better know how to bend brake lines if not you'll be in trouble!

Great videos!! I used a 8.8 axle from a ford Explorer..cant beat it for the $$$, disc brakes, 3.73 gears, 31 spline axles. posi traction. On the 65-66 Mustangs you will have to cut down the long axle side. I have a 67 so no mods where needed another than welding in new spring perchjes.

One of the best upgrades you can do. Did the same on my 67’. What are you doing with the emergency brake. Are you going to be going with the Wilwood one as well? If so, please do a video on it as well.

Very nice & informative video! I have the rear Wildwood brakes ready to go on n my 65 Fastback. I have Currie 9" for the rear end. And a Strange carrier assembly with 3.70's. My fastback is dark green metallic as well. Same style wheels for now. I'm looking to put a set of 16"x8 Vintage Wheel Works on it, Hope all goes well with your install!! Wondering what master cylinder you are going to use, from Wildwood?? And proportioning valve. I had the old school Granada front brakes and a Lincoln Versailles rear end in the car previously. Your 65 looks and sounds great! Keep up your cool videos!

Love watching your videos! I would suggest that you just get some cut to length HD axles to replace those old 8" axles especially if you plan on putting some racing slicks on the back!
@lemonke15763 жыл бұрын
Awesome video as always. Was just wondering about doing this on my own '65; I installed a rear SSBC kit years ago that has been a huge pain in the butt. Parking brake doesn't work, braking power is poor, etc. This will definitely guide me in my process!

Thanks!

If I recall the parking brake on the Wildwood rear discs is integrated into the assembly. It simplifies the set up.

@@lemonke1576 I agree with you in terms of getting the correct parts/hardware. There's nothing like being in the middle of a project and having the incorrect parts and/or hardware!! I went with Wildwood because of quality and good reputation. Plus Wildwood is about 45 minute drive from my home.
@Jagerbug743 жыл бұрын
good video! When you measure the pitch between holes with a vernier caliper, as long as the holes are the same size you can use the internal calipers (on top) to the outer edges then take off the diameter off of one of the holes (much more accurate) hope this helps? cheers Jason

When it comes to these kinds of mods, a long range assessment of your goals for the car really helps. By that, I mean, is this your daily driver? Do you plan to keep this car "forever and ever"? These kinds of questions may help you determine how far you may want to go. If it is a "forever" car, personally, I would save up some more and get a 9" rear end. If not a "forever" car, you're young yet so minimize the damage to your wallet. Believe me, I speak from experience.
