I bought my 1970 GTX in the fall of 1969, but my wife actually ordered it because I had to go overseas. 440 6bbl Air Grabber 4 speed and manual brakes. Super trac pac 4:10 Dana60 with SureGrip Curious Yellow paint (Curious Yellow was a porn movie so not all States called it that) Black interior and bucket seats with the fold down armrest because my wife likes being close to me😊 I still own and drive it. The car shown here looks like a decent parts car. $10,000

My first car at age 16 in 1979 was a Burnt Orange 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner with a black interior. In April 1980 i got into a drag race against a 71 type Sj 455 Pontiac Grand Prix. I lost control going around a curve at Milwaukee's lakefront. Hit the ass end of a Dump truck, totalled my Roadrunner. I've never really gotten over it. 😢

No doubt, I wrecked my '76 T/A 455 4spd blk/blk posi it was a fun ride but I am also a Mopar guy.
@Paul-zz8lu3 ай бұрын
@@eldorado1830 my buddy had a 76 Firebird Formula 400 4 speed blk on blk, I borrowed it to take a girl out that night, I got nothing but bad luck, that night in the hotel, some fk hit and run, tore off most of the front clip. Girl was fun, but it cost me $900.00 to get his formula fixed! Your car and his must've looked almost identical... I miss the late 70s and 80s, no more used muscle in the classified ads anymore!

@@keithfitterer6899 When I was in the Air Force in 1973 at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois this guy stationed there had a 1970 GTX red with black vinyl top and black interior I think it had a slight race cam in it because it sounded like it did. It was a sweet looking car but he said they couldn’t find the title back home so I gave up on that car. Probably a good thing I might have hurt myself with car.

I really like the color combination of this gtx. Nothing on this car is original. It just looks original. The only way to really know what any old muscle car is worth is what the buyer is willing to pay. A buddy of mind that runs a local auto body shop just sold a 67 chevelle. He had owned the car body for a long time and needed money, so he decided to piece it together and sell it. The car was running without interior or paint job. He said he got 20k, someone must have wanted it really bad. I am a Mopar man though and through and it ain't no way i would pay 20k for a chevelle, unless I was buying to resale and knew i could make a good profit. Now, this gtx should be worth 20k, but depends on the buyer.

Yes, took my 4 speed out of a 68 GTX and changed to an automatic . Way faster. I know, screwed no. S matching, but I stupidly traded the car any way.

The torque flight 727 was the first automatic transmission offered that had been proven to be faster than a standard shift. That being said, there is nothing cooler than a four-speed standard.

They want $60,000 for a no matching numbers car even the interior has been changed from bench seats to buckets with a console used to be a column shifter. I can’t see giving no where near that amount for that car though it is a nice car. Plus the color isn’t original.

$60K might be pushing it, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a big block GTX in this condition--numbers matching, modded or stock--for less than $40K.

My Dad had a 70 GTX in B-7 blue 440 Super Commando auto and 3.55 axle..He ran 12.89 in the 1/4 car was stock circa 1987,he just had headers and a 850 cfm carter carb.also had 225.70/14 radial t/a tires couldnt floor it before 20 mph... In 1987 I bought a like new 68 Charger R/T 440 Magnum,727,3.23.. I still have the 68 Charger, and I was a teen when I bought it! I knew it was my dream car and bought other Mopar cars that were lesser condition to have fun with and always babied the Charger! Today I have a few Charger's, big C body 2 door Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth 383 4bbl and 440 cars very potent too!! A couple e-bodies etc..I always bought/sold newer Mopar cars 8-15 years old for quick flips and older 79-64 as my passion and fixed them up and sold them, even in the 1990's when I started to rebuild engines, do bodywork and have improved tenfold since a teen! Now early 50's.. My Dad bought a new 70 Charger R/T and still has his, I guess that's why I love my 68 so much and kept it mint parked beside his as a teen and in my 20's until I bought my house! The 70 is a bucket with buddy seat so a 6 seater,my 68 has a console.. For a bit I daily drove k cars and turbo Daytona's I made tons of cash flipping those while in trade school in the early 90's.. also daily drove Cordoba's and 78-79 Magnums they moved good too,14-15 sec 1/4 mile cars when you removed the thermoquad and lean burn/spark control computer! Cordoba's sold really well around here, I would buy them usually the lean burn was acting up so they ran rough and they never had power with lean burn even non lean burn Chrysler products 99% of them had smog carbs and were gutless until you swapped them over.. Sorry for my babble,no didnt buy mine in 1972 but..Dad bought a new 70 Charger RT and he is 96 years old today! My uncle is 88 and bought a new 70 Cuda 440 6 barrel he also owns it today..Amazing both guys still have their minds and talk/sound like they are decades younger! They even walk and move around really good! Dads driving days are over but we go for rides!
