My latest project is a twin rotax powered 1996 Seadoo speedster. It’s like owning a boat and a jet ski in one.

Dude.. you're going to have a blast. They're literally unsinkable and do close to 60mph.. yours might do more, idk. I've got a '97 speedster. They molded in an ice chest and a spotters seat midway on port side. Yours should be a bit lighter so maybe go faster. It looks like you're missing the trunk insert that lays in over the motors and dampens the 2 stroke noise a little cuz its insulated plus it gives you lots of storage. Keep all your cables lubed and burn all the premix gas out of the carbs before taking boat out of the water for a week or more. ..and keep track of all your lines. Don't forget about your bow line and suck it up into one of your jet pumps.. .and don't mix synthetic 2 stroke oil with the regular stuff.. Congrats and enjoy

Truly appreciate the tips. I will be sure to upload a video the first time that I take it out on the water.

theres an actual ice chest under the spotters seat on your 97?

@@TPM6901 the '97 has a spotters seat about midway between that kidney busting bow seat and the 3 back seats. The back rest of the spotters seat is a nice sized deep ice chest molded into the boat. The spotters seat is about even with center of the helm. I've had 3 passengers and myself and a trunkload of gear in some very rough and choppy waters many times out in the SF Bay during fleet week or zipped across the bay to McCovey cove to heckle the Giants fans (Go A's!). We look like a bottle cap with chop that's taller than the gunwales of the boat but any water that does get in is swiftly evacuated out the back through that drain port there under the driver.. I've had it maxed out and chased big cruisers up the Sacramento river, launching off their wake and having the whole boat out of the water by 3 feet or so. That solid V hull divides the water at reentry for a comfortable landing. When the cruiser driver is cool with your presence around his wake, they trim out to throw a perfect wake for jumping. When you whip it, it turns tighter to the right (starboard) due to the rotation of the impellers.. there's a slight trick to getting a real tight whip. I know they will spin for anyone, but when you figure out how to whip it tight, lol.. I swear to God, I launched a good friend out of my boat and he didn't want to go.. it was mid February early morning.. he kept telling me to whip it for the new guy. I knew we were going to get wet (it seems to spin under its own rooster tail or something.) I waited til we were almost back to the cabin. He thought I wasn't going to do it cuz we were almost home. He wasn't hanging on. I whipped it and he launched off the side like some kind of Navy Seal or something.. lol.. .. but yes... Turn to the right also so you dont end up with a lap full of passengers all smashing into the helm.. .. before you spin, cut back on the throttle a little, then crank the wheel to the right WHILE giving both throttles a quick pump and back off. .. then hook your right arm over the gunwale to keep from sliding out of the helm.. BUT DONT MAKE IT A HABIT TO KEEP YOUR ARM THERE! many people have come up to me with their new jet boat all happy to see a fellow jetboater and get up close then get off the throttle and frantically crank the wheel but boat continues on it's path to crash into my boat. My bro in law almost smashed my right hand like that . PSA.. a jet boat must be sucking in water for the steering to work . . Is this the video of the boat without reverse gates? Reverse is very handy when manuvering around crowded docks. You can put the boat anywhere, in any direction.. even if there's a swift current. My advice to you is to keep your lines out of your jet pumps, keep all cables lubed , always burn off the gas in the carb at the end of the day and flush the motors when boat is back on the trailer , . Never mix synthetic 2 stroke oil with the petroleum stuff. That's about all you need to do to have care free boating experiences.. .. oh ..there's nothing gained on the last 20% of throttle as far as I noticed. If you go balls out , you will burn 25 gallons of gas in under 2 hours. .. and try to always get your gas from a gas station, not a gas dock . The prices are ridiculous and many times their tanks have a lot of water in them .. but yea, .. the '97 has a built in ice chest.. it's tits..

@@jdog4534 lol that was a long story. Ok I thought you meant there was an ice chest UNDER the spotter seat? Because I’ve pulled up on mine a little and I see styrofoam like it could have been a cooler underneath
