Really nice seeing you and Sorato being so friendly, arms around one another, after the final.

He does it again! Toby, you are brilliant. Such a fantastic ambassador for the sport. I love how casual you were about the win 😂. It seems almost secondary to your enjoyment of the final route, the competition in general, and your camaraderie with Sorato and the others. This to me shows: a) what a phenomenal athlete you are; and b) how much you love the many different aspects of this sport. Can't wait to see what happens with your outdoor projects! 😃

I usually watch videos on the side while working. But your videos, I pause everything else as I don't want to miss the details of what goes on while a world class climber is making history. Also appreciate the little tangents... helps a novice understand just a little better. Oh and lastly, love this format. I'll keep watching these for ever. Thanks!!!

The fruits of your labour are showing! After an insane training arc I'm so glad you're getting all the accolades you deserve, what a fantastic season Toby! Always happy rooting for you and seeing you perform has been satisfying Also wanted to point out that 13:45 was such a wholesome moment, seeing sorato congratulate you and genuinely being happy for your victory especially when we've seen how results can affect him was absolutely lovely. The friendship and rivalry you two share is an example of what makes this community so special!

This kid really did come out of no where. I think everyone thought it'd be Sorato to win the Olympics, with Toby in second, but he has consistently proved himself. I look forward to Toby Roberts pushing the limits of outdoor climbing in the future, if that is the path he decides to go down.
@epincion2 ай бұрын
If you followed IFSC youth climbing for the past 5 years you would you would have seen that Toby never came from nowhere and that in the past three years he and Sorato have competed pretty much equally.
@colemantrebor65742 ай бұрын
@@epincion they have competed pretty much equally except in the past three years Sorato won 6 gold medals at the world cup, as well as winning the overall season in both lead and boulder in 2023, whereas Toby had only won 2 gold medals before the olympics. Toby didn't definitely didn't come from nowhere but Sorato was easily the favorite between the two
@epincion2 ай бұрын
@@colemantrebor6574 what needs to be done is to compare WC comps they both attended. One of the issues of the modern WC Circuit is that westerners emphasise comps in Europe and the USA and if they go to Asia it will be to comps in Japan, they leave out (distance =cost) the increasing number of comps in China and other Asian nations. Whereas the Japanese do send representatives to all those.
@colemantrebor65742 ай бұрын
@@epincion In 2023 the only one in Asia Toby missed and Sorato attended was Wuijang, the only one in 2024 was Seoul, lead and boulder. That's only 3 comps. Toby did attend Wuijang in 2024, Seoul in 2023 and Keqiao in 2024, all outside of Japan.
