The Olympus EVF has a 0.7 magnification (related to 35 mm equivalent). The 1.4 spec ist related to the µ43 size. Fuji´s spec is, which is 0.77, is already in 35 mm equivalent. So you should compare the right specs.

Hey Steve, nice to hear your excitement. I have my X-T1 for 3 days now and i like it a lot. It kind of grows in me each day. I have at least 4-5 brands - Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji, Oly and I was very critique about this Fuji. However, as I said - this camera grew up very quickly and I love it. I got rid of the E-M5 & EM-1 and I'll probably get rid of the NEX-7. I'm keepind D800E and 5DMIII for serious landscape and studio work, but X-T1 will be my main travel camera. Cheers from Philly!

I'm a Pentax user, and I have the K-5 and K-01, and I've fallen in love with manual focus photography with live view and focus peaking (on the K-01), I use a LCDVF over the screen to use it as a view finder. It does have a low resolution though, and you can't adjust the focus peaking in any way except on or off, but still, it's pretty great for that use. The X-T1 looks awesome, and there is an adapter for it for Pentax lenses (I have several great old fully manual ones), so I really want to try it out as it's faster than the K-01, has a proper view finder with a much higher resolution screen (I don't know if you can adjust the focus peaking, but a higher resolution screen makes it better already).

Steve, what is that camera strap you have on the Fuji? Did it come with the camera? I really like it.
@redtails10 жыл бұрын
Jeez, almost 7 and a half minutes before you finally turn the thing on. There's an unwritten rule that camera reviews should immediately jump to the camera's video or photo footage, and THEN after that the looks and feel of the camera itself. That's literally the only thing you should care about in a camera; how good are the pictures
@christophermollon35169 жыл бұрын
definitely not the ONLY thing lol. ergonomics matter immensely, next to picture quality.
@WilsonWongWilzWorkz10 жыл бұрын
Honest reviews gets respect because we have the viewers and readers with their interest in mind. And if the manufacturers have done good, then we are more than happy to talk about what they have done! As for XT1, I kind of feel that the dials not need to be locked. And the 4 way buttons and some buttons are just too 'shallow' for easier access. The standard I look forward to are those buttons on XE2. Shooting with the camera, yes it is much much better than my workhorse XE1 (yes i shoot XE1 professionally too). Pity the ergonomics. And yes, i missed the option to have soft release button.

I love your reviews my friend!!! I watch all other reviews (Fuji guys, the camera store tv, and so on) when I try to buy a camera but I feel most of them are very bias... And now that you said that Fuji stopped contacting you, it's just true about what other reviewers are VERY bias, sorry crappy Fuji people, I'm buying a Sony a6000 instead of Fuji products...
@mitchellriggs10 жыл бұрын
Just an FYI - The X-T1 and the Ex-2 will not sync with an external audio source (or other non fuji cameras). Video drifts about a frame a minute. Fuji knows of the problem but says the camera is within their spec...whatever that means. This is a big deal for video bloggers who love this camera and want to use off-camera audio recording. The Ex-1 at 24 P will sync fine. Fuji may fix this in a future firmware update, but they have not yet publicly addressed the issue.
@ThePhotoTruth10 жыл бұрын
Doesn't it have a 2.5mm mic input?
@mitchellriggs10 жыл бұрын
Ben Kleschinsky Yes it does - but there is no audio level indication or adjustment available while rolling - you have to guess the levels before the shot and hope for the best. The pre-amps in the camera aren't terrible, but everything in the 1300 category will sync with a Zoom H1. Many cameras well below this price point will too...like even my iPhone. Funny, the Ex-1 didn't have this problem. Sync is rock solid. Fuji seems to have introduced the issue when they changed their video frame rate from 24P to 29.97
@ThePhotoTruth10 жыл бұрын
man. Wonder if theres anything external to get that would give you the audio levels. well at least theres no huge issues on the photography side that has come out yet, after all it is a camera.

@uflux10 жыл бұрын
You suggest that having controls on top of the body is some how more "photographic"....Perhaps I could suggest theses knobs mean you often take your eye away from the subject to change settings which is surely less "photographic". EG. Sony's Function button takes away the need for knobs, and the need to look away from the viewfinder...One single touch feel button that changes 90% right in front of you...2 cents
@ernixy10 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. You can see the settings as it moves through the evf. You'll also be able to get used to the top dials in no time.
@uflux10 жыл бұрын
Yeah not sure how it constitutes being more "pro" having multiple knobs to deal with rather than a button...
@xBrassVerdict10 жыл бұрын
I don't know about it being more "photographic", but I think I would really like the manual controls on the top. It kind of harkens back to my early days with the Canon AE-1. I like the idea of manually setting the 3 components of a good exposure without having to dive into a menu or making sure I am in the right mode. Like Steve said, once you initially set up the camera you can shoot without having to dive into the menu system. I do not think the dials make it a more "pro" camera, but I don't think that is what this camera is about. This camera is about the passion of photography, at least in my opinion. If you want to be pro I think you should still be using a DSLR. I would buy this camera for the simple love of taking pictures, it seems to fit that niche very well.
@mentalcrisis0010 жыл бұрын
I partly agree with uflux, although I started out with using manual film cameras from 35mm to 4x5 and I understand that having those old knobs is great. I have tried my friends XE-1 and it seems a lot like a street or portrait camera to me. Of course he uses it for everything being his primary camera but if you have the time for manipulating the knobs that's great. I usually don't as most of my work involves wildlife photography. I have gotten used to the thumb and index finger dials for adjusting my settings and having my left hand dedicated to focusing/zooming. I'm all about retro controls as I still use my 4x5 camera for landscapes but I prefer my Nikon DSLR for speed and my Pen for size/lens availability. To me the Fuji has awesome lenses but not enough of them in my preferred focal lengths, at least for now. Then again my friend sold his DSLR for a fuji so it comes down to personal taste. It's the pictures that make the photographer not the camera.
@ThePhotoTruth10 жыл бұрын
Doesn't this camera also have a rotating knob to change the shutter speed within the software. Not talking about the one with numbers on it but a swively custom one.

It has been a few months since you had the camera in your hands. How do you like the X-T1 so far? Is there anything else that was released in the meantime that you like more?
@moodyrcf10 жыл бұрын
wonder if those who complained about the Nikon Df's control with the thumb and front dial are going to complain about the Fujifilm X-T1's dials as well. Fuji has finally made a camera thats worth switching. My choice before was Fujifilm X-Pro1 vs Olympus OM-D E-M5 and chose em5 because of the autofocus issue only. I have been waiting for something like this since Fujifilm S5-Pro. actually ive been eyeing for fuji to make a great camera. anyway, going to wait for X-Pro2. still prefer the rangefinder design, the hump on my e-m5 is a nuisance when taking it out of the camera bag, and i believe it will be the same with the xt1.
@DGBomber10 жыл бұрын
Actually the X-T1's dial's design is much much better than the DF's, simply because the DF has a dsrl-like PASM dial that overrides the other dials, so if you are in aperture mode and change the shutter speed with the dial it will have no effect. You will see a speed on the dial while the real one in another, this is very confusing. Fuji's approach is much better, placing the "A" setting on every dial and gettin rid of the PASM dial.
@moodyrcf10 жыл бұрын
Shaitan I really love Fuji for removing the PASM mode. I really don't get the point of having it. I mean, having it physically. I'd rather have an ISO dial since in digital world it's one of the most used control after shutter and aperture. I sort of wish the X-M1 had no PASM mode. since it is the only body i can afford. =(
@DGBomber10 жыл бұрын
Raphael Jan Cañete Ferraris Yeah the single dials are good, but honestly I feel confortable with the PASM dial + two weels also ...I had a X-E1 and now I have a 6D. The real non-sense is having both, they work against each other =)

The leica has only mf so speed is entirely dependent on you and your eyes. It is a manual focusing camera. Fuji Xpro camera has autofocus and is pretty much meant to be used as such so you cant compare the focus on the two. You can compare it like this. Steve says a car has turbo but it is kinda slow. And then you say why he doesnt complain about this other car that doesnt have turbo.

Yep jumped ship from Nikon. Nikon and Canon are one of the companies I like to call too big to fail. Sorry Nikon and Canon lovers but I'd like to see Canon or Nikon or Sony for that matter admit a light leak offer a full replacement of a new camera and have the buttons now updated on it from people complaining about it online. Props to Fuji for that one! Don't get me wrong Nikon and Canon make great professional DSLRs such as the d4s, canon 5D Mark III and 1DX but kinda slouch on other bodies. Nikon and Canon still make beautiful lenses. Yep Nikon and Canon are optics companies that make DSLR's. After all thats where there origins came from. Anyways sold my Sony A7R after trying it out in low light. It's EVF fails in low light. Sounds like this camera's EVF is beautiful. Had no idea it had a tilty LCD Screen. I exploded when you added that in there. Has more buttons than I thought too.

ukmitch86 it'll display info of your settings and focus confirmation/zones, you can't show exposure preview (it does show histogram if I'm not mistaken) or focus peaking. X-T1 is a great camera (the handling o_O), but make sure you do not want to wait to see the x-pro2, the worst buys are the ones you regret.....(and when the x-pro2 comes out there probably will be some deals on the x-t1 as well), than again if you can't wait just go for it, it's a lovely camera

The physical build quality of the XT-1 is incredibly good, too bad the camera is let down so badly by horrible video.

I just bought an X-PRO-1 for a bargain price... ITs a lovely camera and takes great pictures. Why pay a premium price now for the XT1. And your talking shite about the fuji evf's, the res on the x100 / xpro1 is fine, and who created the hybrid viewfinder. Higher res doesnt always mean better VF, i own the NEX 5N with evf, its twice the res but its a bit too contrasty. i prefere the fuji evfs.

I like what it offers, but their lens selection falls short.

I think Fuji stopped sending you cameras and/or stay in contact with you because of poor video production. I don't want to see a video with someone fiddling with a camera in review and talk in the background throughout the whole video. Simply unprofessional and homemade for sure.

Love your videos, always watch the new reviews. Having said that, I gotta call you out on one point tho, you are kinda full of shit saying this camera is so much better than every X camera, its an X-E2 with a different body & tweaked EVF, which is Cool, because the X-E2 is great & the X-T1 has the same sensor, image processor, AF system as the X-E2, just saying, the X-E2 will probably get a few of the new features the X-T1 has in a firmware update. X-Pro 1, yeah its still slow :P haha. Keep up the good work.

I have to wonder if they held back on a few things in the XE2 that they could have released it with, knowing that it would steal some of the thunder of the XT1. There isn't much that I think the XE2 is really missing, but one feature I am looking for that is in the XT1 but not in the XE2 is the wireless control of the camera via your mobile. The wifi feature in the XE2 is a bit lacking at the moment, but it's surely only a software update away...

I agree with both points. Personally I went from mainly using Canon (7D) & chose the X-E2, im very very happy with it, sometimes i think people forget what bad performance actually is, Even the X-E1 with firmware update seems pretty good to me, X-E2 is fantastic. At this current time, we are spoilt, most camera makers seem to be doing a great job, Canon & Nikon have for the most part become boring because things are going so smoothly, or don't seem to be risking much, Olympus, Sony & Fuji have all lifted their games so much, its giving everyone more legit choices, i chose Fuji, I feel like a chose right :) Steve seems a little bitter & missed the mark judging Fuji so harshly, its no big deal. I still like his reviews, i like seeing different opinions of stuff I'm into, ultimately to me my opinion counts the most haha.

pleeeeaaase FUJI give me an X-pro2... puuhhhlleeeeeaaazzz....i sold my Nikons, I sold my x100black, unloaded all my electronic crap we all accumulate like squirrels before winter and cleaned out my life of every piece of something that wasnt an artwork, photograph, family heirloom (most were pics and artworks, ha!) or critical piece of my biz. So I'm foot-loose, fancy-free, I'm to (limp around painfully but with a smile) europe with my sony-flippey-thing laptop/tablet w/ retina-like screen and a fuji x-pro2.... oh wait.... dammit fuji, I can't sit here forever, putting my life on hold so you can grow the stones needed to give leica a smackdown at 1/8 price. What are they paying you? No, I won't double it, hmmm, maybe ask Steve. Steve, help a brother out will you, get Leica to lay off my guys at Fuji so \i can get my Xpro2 da4ngit! I'm dyin' ovah here. Seriously fuji, i won't blink first, so dont think I will cause I wont. Damn I sure hope they're gonna make an xpro2 now, or I'm stuck here w/ no furniture, and a bunch of server-grade trading computers and a wall of monitors to stare at the rest of my days - maybe I could find some wood to turn them into chairs and a bed....and an apartment to put them in.... damnit fuji!!!!
