Nice buy. Utes are basically un-killable. I had a base model for 5 years. I said as soon as it broke i'd get a new car. It never broke down, and I had to give it away in the end. $7k for an XR8 sounds like a massive bargain. Congrats!

Good honest review man, and that is a good buy! The BA also came with a 3 valve version of this same engine in some non-XR models as an option... A bit rarer, but these ones had very different character - LOTS of low down torque, but not as much on the top end. And a bit of a sleeper because they didn't have the high bonnet!

Because I'm the type who has wasted all their money, all their life, I bought one of these new in 2005, the magnet edition, in the same colour. Six speed manual' body colour hard tonneau, but the one without the spoiler, it was just bloody beautiful. I sold it just 18 months later to go and waste more money overseas, but man do I ever miss it. Trying to pay off the loan on my 2009 FG XR6T sedan currently. I miss the sound of a V8. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

That sound !! Nice buy that LPG system would have cost about 4k if its Vapour Injected. I would be running it on gas until its play time then flick it over to Petrol. Injected LPG is nothing like the old mixer type mate save yourself a fortune with only slight loss of power.

Great "bang for your buck" buy. Well done. I have a BA Mk1 XR8 sedan, only 140 000km on it. Pretty basic as far as options go. Mine doesn't even have the extra gauges on top of the ICC unit. I think the GT got the colour screen ICC and Brembo brakes. You can get cross drilled rotors for a relatively inexpensive upgrade.

A bit late to the party but great vid, just gained another sub. My XR8 Ute is the 2004 with the 5 speed and I also purchased it on Perth, paid 8k but needed gearbox work. All done now with a new tremac 3650. Holden guy turned Ford.

Wicked sound from that exhaust, nice pick up for 7Gs, i had the same model back in 2008 (auto) when they were worth 30 grand but i pranged in the wet doing 100 k an hour. Very slippery tail end in the wet so watch out. Nice camera work by the way.

By the bf falcons, xr8 and xr6 turbos are standard with upgraded brakes. Ba only have standard xt falcon brakes

Seriously 7K xr8 six Man 6speed BAMkII thats a steal. My son has one, best ute to drive. As you said you can drive in any gear so much grunt. It will be worth heaps in the future unless the greenies get it banned. if the brakes aint working get them checked and or upgraded.

Brakes where crap in my ba mk2 xr6t, I put big territry breaks on the rear there a big vented rotor and big single piston caliper also a straight bolt on job, just use dba T2 rotors front and rear and a good set of bendix pads makes the world of difference and it's a cheap

i do love em.. from my knowledge they are pretty good rigs.. mine still runs like a dream havent had to replace anything besides a starter motor.. i would just try to avoid the autos.. as there gear box was not nearly as good as the FGs... other than that just try n find one thats been taken care of

Very good car , mate has the same car but silver. Not much goes wrong with these. Tried to buy one but very hard to find a good one in Melbourne but SS utes were hard to find unless they had 400,00 on the clock. The boss is quad cam so will loose touqe down low but once its in its powerband its like the old 351clevland and just keeps going . Wound a 351clevland to 140 mph plus and it still wanted more in my old xt gt , had to back off shit myself. Beautiful car mate , love these v8 Fords .

@@RossReviewsau Wish I still had the Gt ,sold it for 7 k in the 90s cops kept booking me then I bought the Chrysler Regal se 318. I had a cop 351 with a bit of work. The Cleveland was a great engine, I'm hard core Mopar but Ford built some real beasts that even to this day go so hard you just want one ,that's why they're so expensive. Best car I've ever owned is the 77 Chrysler regal Se with a hot 360. Just done over a million ks , its been everywhere and pushed hard to. Just finished the welding and fabrication on an old wagon. Next car I build is the last that I keep , HQ Statesman. Don't know why but have always liked them. Look after the ute mate , very nice car .

Swipez the xr6t is def a different animal! The reason these hook up I think is because of the weak power up to 3000rpm then it starts to pull a lot harder!
