Hey Marty, the fuel rails are probably ok. Definitely replace the fat rubber orings, but most importantly, the white o rings at the bottom of the injectors need to be replaced, and there is a special tool and procedure involved to install these. I was a dealer technician for years and performed this repair when the LS460s were new due to the fuel rail recall.

Nice! Thanks. I have ordered all the new Lexus o rings and pieces for the top of the injector. Since the bottom seals require a special tool I was told, I didn’t touch them but I’ll look into it. I didn’t know how they sealed into the head but will look into it!

I love it Marty, very well organized, the refresh is coming along well. On a side note, you seem more chill, free of stress. The injectors have a white plastic grommet near it's tip. Those are suppose to be replaced, the white plastic is thick and once placed in the manifold/rail, will fit snuggly. VW has a similar design, they sell an injector rebuild kit to replace them. You will need a special installation to to fit in those white plastic seals. And if you look closely, the more you take it off/on the plastic starts to shave losing some of its degraded white material. On VW Audi they are replaced each time, it is a one time seal. You can get away with it, but sooner than later will leak.

Thanks, I’m definitely stressed all the time but I’ve learned to accept the setbacks 😂 I’ve ordered all new seals/ and o rings etc for the injectors this time since I have to take them off again so hopefully it’ll be good this time!

Hey man, your patience is admirable! I’ve done minor car work on my Lexus es330 but when it goes bad it can feel like the end of the world sometimes lol. Keep grinding man, love the content

Also have you thought about reaching out to AMD from the Car Care Nut Channel for some pointers?

Best advice for this guy. He needs it.

To seal that valley plate there is a new updated grey silicone. Hopefully that’s what you have.

I was one of the early owners of these cars (2007), and I kept mine till 180,000 miles. Did all those early repairs myself (I’m a tech). Did the control arms, the wheel bearings, blower motor, etc. But then it started consuming oil, and also the brake actuator started going. I bowed out at that point because I didn’t want to start tearing into that engine with that wiring harness, but I loved that car! Honestly it was pretty trouble free for me for a long long time. Smooth power with great fuel economy for a V8. Loved that transmission too (changed the fluid every 50,000). I also did the wind noise fix too (earlier models had that issue).

I hope one day the GSF comes to your channel one day. Since the isf was kinda small, the gsf makes up with space
@MartyMotoring3 ай бұрын
GSF is awesome, but LS was cheaper and more room for now. I’d love a GSF though when I can afford it $$$

Hey Marty, looking forward to see you drive this beautiful Car. Because you are taking a lot of moving Shots with your Camera, maybe you want to look into improving the FPS from 30 to 60, that would be a lot more comfortable for the Viewers.
@MartyMotoring3 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the suggestion. I do record in 30 and 60 but I export in 24fps for that real feel going back to my cinematic video roots but I might change it up

@@MartyMotoring Good deal, glad you are bringing her back to life. Prefer the semi-aniline leather on the LS460 over the LS500 and LC500. It's more durable it seems.

Are you mixing injectors brown on the passenger and black on the driver? Those have separate fuel flow rates hence the color. The motor is tuned for the specific color of injector and without the right one you're gonna have a different flow rate given the batch they were manufactured within.
@MartyMotoring3 ай бұрын
I’m just replicating what was in there - brown on passenger side and black on driver side. The replacement ones I ordered were the same color as well for each side, brown for passenger and black for driver :)
@d1sturb3d1193 ай бұрын
@@MartyMotoring Oh wow interesting. Do you know if someone worked on this before? Also how is it running now? My understanding was that they would choose only 1 color for a given car so the injectors are the same but I'm not sure. Maybe the RR racing guys would know.

Did you ever consider the GS460 or the 3rd gsn GS430/60? Splits the difference on performance and luxury, with plenty of size. I know though that the GS460 can be MUCH harder to find than the LS, which is dime a dozen.
@MartyMotoring3 ай бұрын
Definitely looked for them and they were hard to find. GS would have been a good size but I love how big the LS is too

how did this LS get so worn? all this due to ignoring regular maintainance?
@MartyMotoring2 ай бұрын
Previous owner was a Lexus tech I was told, it could be that or just something that happens with mileage. These issues are common with the LS460 in my research

You saved plenty of money coming out of your pocket yes I agree, BUT! What is your time worth per hr? add up all the time it took you to do the job X what your time is worth, if you enjoy doing the work just say that, because the time u put into fixing that problem X what your worth per hr will add up to be well over the price they were gonna charge you but I must say, I enjoyed the videos, keep up the good work
