Anyone excited to start a new bullet journal?! Also, I have to apologize that the lighting in this video is so bad, but it SO dark in Finland this time of the year... Like I'm pretty sure I haven't seen the sun in three weeks. XD My January Plan With Me will be up next week! ^^ Until then, have an amazing holiday season and the rest of the year!! ❤

Oh, gosh, I’ve followed you for quite awhile and didn’t know you are from Finland. I’m in Oregon, USA, and because I’m a speed skater, I went to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver BC. The skating world is quite small, and I personally knew a number of the Olympians in both short track and long track. My tickets were for the long-track events. And who did I fall in love with and who did I not know anyone from this country? Yes, FINLAND! Anna, your fellow countrymen in long-track speedskating had the best heart and the VERY BEST sense of humor! I made a vow that I will someday go visit Finland. Here it is, basically 10 years later, and I just learn that one of my favorite youtubers is Finnish. I love all of your videos. Your art is beautiful. And I love your sense of humor, too! ❤️

I started bullet journalling after moving to the USA from New Zealand. My bujo has evolved to become my 'brain in a book' and has been so helpful with my memory problems and it's fun to see how it has changed and evolved in the last 18 months! Moving countries is a massive life change! I lived in Japan for a year (Saitama Prefecture) Good luck with your move, I hope everything goes smoothly! Look after yourself and remember that it'll take about 3 months for your brain to really start getting the hang of living in a different language. As Gaijin we're always gonna get stares, just roll with it. If you're in an urban area look up a local (say within 30-45mins by train) that does language lessons with as close to one-on-one tutoring as you can. Have fun, explore and make local friends and you'll have a blast
@JournalAway4 жыл бұрын
Wow thank you so much for the insights and tips! 😍❤️ And wow, first Japan and then USA! So exciting! I totally agree with your points about living in Japan. I was there for one year as an exchange student in the past, so this time I kinda know what to look for, which is great! ☺️ Don't know if I could've made such a bold move otherwise... 😄

This is such a beautiful set up, so simple and clean. I love the paper strip you use....do you use a special kind of paper, it must be pretty thin?
@JournalAway4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think any paper would do, but the thinner it is, the less noticable it will be when you close the journal. ☺️ I often glue watercolor paintings done on a really thick paper, and it works as well, but it definitely makes it more difficult to close the journal.

Aaah it sounds so hard 😅 If I remember correctly, Mylifeinabullet here in KZbin uses plain notebook, and has a piece of normal ruled paper underneath when she is drawing (at least in some videos). If you don't have super thick paper, the lines shine through just enough so that you can use them as a guide while writing or drawing in the notebook. :) You could even create a guide paper like that yourself! I hope you got what I meant 😅

I just moved to the Netherlands this past summer and I wish I had planned the move out in my bullet journal. The move would have been less stressful. I moved from America with my husband and our kids. My husband is from here.
@JournalAway4 жыл бұрын
I can just imagine how stressful that would be, especially with kids... But I'm so happy you made it nevertheless! ☺️

I was thinking of making a move abroad as well. I’m in the US and looking to go to Northern Europe (Finland, Sweden, or Denmark). Any advice?
@JournalAway4 жыл бұрын
Haha hearing that as a Finnish person makes me so happy! 😍 The Northern countries have their own pros and cons, but in general they're great countries to live. ☺️ I recommend you to watch some videos from youtube to know the biggest cultural differences and difficulties beforehand, so it won't all come as a surprise. That's what I did before going to Japan for the first time and it was sooo helpful! 😄
@Sssara144 жыл бұрын
I would recommend you go to the government websites, they normally have very nicely put immigration policies!! "Aleksi Himself" has a lot of videos to help people emigrate to Finland and it could be helpful (culture is similar too) However, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish (Germanic languages) are waay easier to learn than Finnish!! Something to take into account too 😂 (although most people speak English, but you know) Best of luck!😊
@aleidadiaz22614 жыл бұрын
Sssara14 yes I have a Austrian friend who went to school in both Sweden and Finland. She said Swedish is easy to learn but Finnish is like Turkish, haha. But she also said Finnish people were friendlier and warmer. My daughter plays ice hockey. Do all schools have teams for girls?
@Sssara144 жыл бұрын
@@aleidadiaz2261 I have no clue! But it's so popular there I would think yes, probably 😂 (I will ask, though!)
@elsaebervik85244 жыл бұрын
Aleida Diaz In Sweden we don’t have school teams but we have tons of children’s hockey teams both for girls and boys but separate from school

Hi. I love the font you are using. How is it called?
@JournalAway4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sorry for replying so late! I've mainly used the fonts called Collection and Janetta Silloam as my inspiration, but the font I'm using has kinda formed itself throughout the past months, so it's not exactly ant font out there 😅 I'll make a video about my writing style in the future ☺️

What kind of pen do you use for the majority of the writing portions?
@JournalAway4 жыл бұрын
I'm using Pigma Micron pens for all the writing. :) I prefer 01 and 02 sizes for the normal writing stuff, and then use 005 or 08 for drawing, thicker lines etc. ☺️
