My 2021 Minimalist GoPro/Camera Travel Kit

Oh man, that is like a dream kit! I used to carry my Sony a6000 everywhere but it seems so clunky looking at the GoPro and other small cameras. Even my pixel 4a is so vastly more convenient than carrying the Sony and the photo and video quality is incredible. Obviously each has its own purpose brought for caring around in a backpack I’m thinking of going with a Hero 9 Black, and always carrying my Mavic Mini of course.

This is a great for short trip, everything you need to capture good video and still images. In a very compact kit. The only thing that surprised me was the Insta360 One X2, for me it's still a specialty camera that I don't really use as a daily driver. Thanks for sharing Sean.

Couple of questions: I also have the NuBear Grip and noticed that where the mount on top attaches to the shaft, there is a TINY wobble. 1) I have videoed with my Hero 9 and I don't detect any issues, movement or extraneous sound but wondered if yours does that? It looks like the GoPro mount is pinned to the shaft that pulls out. As you know, You have to grab and twist the mount in order to extend the shaft so i hope the mount doesn't loosen up any more. 2) I am thru hiking the Appalachian Trail beginning March 21, 2021 and to get the most out of my memory cards, I have the Hero 9 set to 1080/30 and I get 10 hours on a 256 GB card. If I go to 4K, I only get 4 hours. Since I'm on the trail for maybe 5 months or longer and only in towns every 3 to 5 days, I need to make my cards last as long as possible. The video looks good to me on 1080. Your thoughts? John from MI

That’s a hard question to answer. The video quality is about the same, however the mini does not have as many features as the original Mavic pro. But with that said it does have its own advantages. I know many people who have went from the original Mavic to the mini 2 And Have been very pleased

hey I have recently began to do blog style videos on my channel I was thinking about getting the hero nine black for my main camera instead of my iPhone but like you I do most of my editing on either my iPhone or an iPad I was wondering if you had any specific SD card readers to recommend that work the best for transferring between the camera and an iPhone

Personally I just use the Apple sad card dongle. It’s a little pricey but always works well. There are cheaper alternatives that you can get on Amazon
