Enjoyed your video, There is so much more involvement with a bike you can modify, I only had my himmy 2 weeks, but I am loving it. Just got the TEC camshaft, hopefully sorting the only major criticism of the bike, this should take it to about 28 hp.

Thanks for watching, yes once I get the front suspension swap completed and the bugs worked out (if there are any) I want to start looking at a big bore kit and cam.

Great looking bike. I'm in Europe & i'm interested to know the insurance aspects of having multiple bikes in California? Costs, single policies for each or a multiple policy to cover all.
@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC3 ай бұрын
One policy for all bikes. Price seems to depend on the value of the bike and the type of coverage. I also have three or four cars on the policy (family members).

Just found your video. Great mods, the only ones I haven't done are the wheels and the Jeep headlight. How difficult was the Jeep light to fit onto the bike?
@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC Жыл бұрын
The Jeep headlight fits right into the Himalayan light ring.

@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC2 жыл бұрын
They are three finger levers and the adjustment is nice. Yeah so far I think they are better than stock for the adjustment alone.

My first question is "Why have you got a picture of my girl friend in your garage?" Yeah I like alot of mods you have done,, not sure about the carb ,because the fuel injection works so well on my bike,it starts on tickover,,no throttle whatsoever even when quite cold and damp... I am tempted by the tubeless tyres, and the gold rims look good ,kindof reminds me of old yam XT500s. I just did a round trip to London (shit city) ,its 140miles each way.. So I travelled down intending to fillup when I got there,but forgot. Half way back I realized ,and the gauge was reading two red bars with another 20miles before fuel..I made it ,but it only took 10lts ,,so it will easily cover two hundread miles on a tank...Mind that I cruise at 60mph .. I particularly like your handguards, mine are more guards and less (keep the wet of my hands) type of guards,I might try a mod.. Like the seat . I have bar raisers,and they work well for me.. Have you deleted the cat,,(sounds painful for pussy) thats a mod I,m thinking of .. I have the Tecbike cam fitted,,but I really like low torque and the power from the new cam really comes in at high 4000 and above,,well 5000 is my limit so its abit of a waste for me,,so considering fitting a Big bore kit for more low end grunt....GF has got breakfast ready so gotta go..cheers

What did those wheels cost because their website seems useless. I can’t find any models or anything to figure anything out in their site. Thx, great video and mods I have the exact same bike, color and all

The best thing to do (what I did) was email them telling them what you want. They sent me an invoice, I paid it then the wheels showed up in about a week. If I remember right they were close to $700 USD shipped. Thanks for watching.

Hi... my name is Daniel, from Brazil and I have a BS5 Himalayan. My question is: why the carburator mod? Whats te advantages... the pros and cons off the carburator convertion? Thanks.
@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC Жыл бұрын
Because the fuel injection system in the US was tuned very poorly to meet emission standards which caused the bike to run lean and stall a lot as well as not start at all. This has been fixed with a ECU flash offered by Royal Enfield but I decided I would rather have a carb for the sake of reliability and simplicity. I know carbs very well because of my previous employment with Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki as a mechanic. The bike has run flawless for 4000 miles now without a single stall or hiccup.
@danigueites5009 Жыл бұрын
@@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC ... I suspected that, because here in Brazil we have the same problem. The motorbikes engine works with a lean mixture which makes the driving experience frustrating. Royal Enfield Brasil also offers an ECU recall in order to mitigate the problem but the mixture remains lean at the limits of acceptability. We experience head heat and pre-ignition. I still haven't decided whether to try adapting a carburetor or installing an auxiliary module like Fuel X for example that allows me to set maps and increase the mixture.
@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC Жыл бұрын
@@danigueites5009 The carb install is not too bad but it helps to have a mechanical background for sure. Fuel X would probably give good results with a lot less work.

What benefits did you get by changing to a carburator?
@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC Жыл бұрын
Increased reliability, more consistent power and it always starts and idles like it should. :-) The big thing is I now have control over the mixture so no more detonation when its under load with the super lean fuel injection. Thanks for watching.

Mirrors look hideous, same with the klr fender, other than that and the carb conversion bike looks great especially with these gold tubeless wheels.
@MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC2 жыл бұрын
Opinions on looks will vary. ;-) I guess you don't know about the best adventure mirrors available? LOL Like the Himalayan as a whole, not the greatest look but they work really well and I despise the low street bike fender that comes on the bike. Ive also removed the brown Sahara Seat cover, just didn't care for the looks of it after a while.
@ALittleDTour2 жыл бұрын
They’re the best mirrors on planet earth, by a LONG shot. Nothing else comes remotely close to them.

Also the carb works 1000x better than the fuel injection that was on it. Options are a piggy back system on the FI or just a simple carb that's easy to tune. I went with the carb since I have been working with them for what seems like forever. The bike has way more pull up top now with the carb whereas the fuel injection just didn't pull much past 4500 rpm. RE has it WAY to lean to make decent power but Im sure thats because of strict emissions standards.

Do,nt hold back,, let your opinions flow!!!! I actually like the stock mirrors,, Oh yeah The windshield extension ,I got an Alalbaa knockoff for £20 (about $30) works a treat...
