Nice vid about all the mods you’ve done to the Himmy. Brilliantly presented Jeff; really enjoyed it. I used to oil my chain every day when I was Instructing during the winter months, salt and all the crap on winter roads can destroy any chain in no time if neglected. I use EP 80/90 gear box oil as recommended by Honda, works a treat for me.

Your enthusiasm shines through these videos! For chain oiling, I have just picked up a good tip - chainsaw oil-cheap to buy and doesnt fling off, just brush it on, I always take a rough rag and wipe as much crud off as I can first. Did you consider hand guards yet? I almost lost a finger after hitting a tree with my clutch lever.

One thing I learned doing basically the same types of projects you're doing to the same bike this week: If you order all these parts from Indian Ebay sellers, you'll never run out of oil filters & seals. Heckin cool mods, and it's been neat to see that someone else is in the same mood I am with their black '18 Himalayan this year. Waiting on my OEM touring seat and taller tinted windscreen, as well as fuel/water can mounts for the front (bought my bike used, so all the OEM panniers came on it!). Still, really what I want isn't panniers, it's a "custom" welded ladakh carrier to haul around a dozen chicken cages...you know, if it comes up... And I need to get my hands on a Sari guard for less than a fortune. For the ladies 🤣!.

Well, the front mudguard raisers really help when traversing through sticky thick clay gluey mud! The front tire will bite and jam with the mudguard, these raisers give additional longitudinal clearance. Nice ride!

Hi Ronin: I really want to thank you for this video-not specifically about the modifications, but casually mentioning you're 6-2! That was my stumbling block about this fantastic little bike! I had the feeling that it would be too cramped, and too underpowered, but you totally changed my mind! Both my wife & I are going to look at them tomorrow, and most likely, purchase them right then. I was thinking I had to settle for a new KLR due to my height. Not that the KLR's a bad bike, but I really LOVE the styling and endurance of the little Himalayan, as well as the available colors. The shop has both the red and the granite black, so this is going to be a very hard choice! Thanks again!!!

@@OlManRonin it's a little tight for my knees where the tank ridge sits, and the shift/brake pedals needed to be modified, but all in all, everything fits well. We're picking them up on the 20th. I'll still need the pillion & seat to be modified a little so I can sit further toward the rear with my long legs, but with changing the angles of the brake/shift pedals, it'll be great. Thanks again!

@@OlManRonin I just had a butt pucker yesterday with some cheapo allen-head screws on my front reservoir guard (hey, they sent it with my rear res guard, why not right?) That bit slipped through a turn, and man I'm in there with a flashlight like "Please don't be stripped. Come on please no." Yeah, now I know exactly what you mean by the good type of allen bolt head. BTW if you're looking for these, Indian Ebay baby! Next time you remove the rear wheel, have a look at the welding on the inner face of the swingarm. Some are stitch welded which obviously allows water entry to the inside of the swinger leading to them starting to rot from inside. Small tube of silicone sealant will be your friend. ;)

Could carry a personal protection device of one type or another in the tank guard bags .😁 Could put some highway pegs on crash guards. Not a fan of hard cases.. I could picture no ce soft bags on there. They make some soft bags that will lock onto the panier racks. I personally never leave my bike where I can't see it or if I'm alone on trips with stuff. I have been knocked off and had the bags hit me as the bike tumbled by. 😂

Nice list of mods Ronin. They sure add up. I have got the LED headlight, brush guards, heated grips and bar brace to do as well. No pannier frame yet. Black bolts might be taking it a bit too far, can anybody say "perfectionist chrome polisher Harley Owner"?....you don't have black spray paint there? Sorry, just had to get in a cheap shot hehehehe. I agree tho, a silver bolt head in the middle of a black frame and bracket just looks cheap. Much better looking with the black bolts. I cheated and have made my front guard spacers myself, (ok, ok, I'm old and cheap) I used 4 x 20 mm TV wall mount metal spacers left over from when i mounted the TV and 4 screws from the local hardware shop. Painted the screw heads black myself. I would recommend you look at the SRC skid plate and rear suspension linkage guard before doing the big trip, the factory one just isn't solid enough I have bent my new one already, and i've only had it a day... rode off a kerb and bellied it. The SRC pan fits the Givi engine bars too It also protects the exhaust where it heads back along the side of the frame. Looks like I'm fitting it sooner than I anticipated, was hoping to do it after the first service. I have also added a protective screen on the oil cooler, where I ride theres lots of forestry slash and last thing I need is a stick thru the cooler like I got on the 2019. That factory guard is almost useless, its very soft steel.. Fit a decent stainless guard. Toss a castor protector under the rear seat too (or in a bag) they work great in soft ground and are hard rubber. Don't know what you guys call them, but grab one or 2 for the side stand, one day you will realise why I suggested it. Cheaper than the aftermarket foot adapter too heres a link to a local shop here that sells them so you know what i'm talking about as my Americanese isn't all that great pararubber.co.nz/product/castor-cup/ Keep up the great vids, they are a mine of information and informative.

I purchased an accessory bar off Amazon which has two crossbars and was $41CDN. I’m trailing behind you slightly on the mods. My battery tender connection is under the rear seat, I’m not keen on having it out in the open. I thought the signal light relocation hardware was part of the panier rack kit. I was watching a review of the Himalayan and they found the front brakes to be weak, which they are. They were thinking that possibly switching to sintered pads my add a bit more bite to them, what do you think? Love the videos btw.

Sintered EBC bronze coloured pads work great, but be warned, if you're off road, the front brakes can be a bit too good with them fitted. One of the Yamaha models fit the front. Theres info on that online. The brakes on my new one are not nice, but getting better, I did have the ABS working on the rear coming home yesterday. Fronts are still mushy but getting more feel to them as they bed in. Certainly much better than the 2019 brakes were for feel.

another great video I like Hitchcock's but I don't like those those bags I really think they are NOT of very good good quality they are not waterproof the zip zippers are NOT the best quality (not even 50% of the quality that should be on a motorcycle) I bought them and put them on and then took them off please be careful when putting bottles of water or a dozen eggs eggs in there because I'd be afraid the Velcro, the way it is stitched.... IT WOULD TEAR fairly easily I would have rather paid more for something of higher quality not even sure I will use them kind of sad about them, actually you know how much i love your channel had the first service done on mine yesterday she's a wonderful bike please take care
