Although we have a south-east facing balcony, I have found that plants that are in the shadier areas tend to not like the heat even if they are shade-tolerant. But there are some plants that do pretty well there, e.g. mint.

That's very true! Many shade loving plants struggle in the heat of summer... We have really hot summers here and although my plants are in the shade for most of the day some of them don't make it even with regular waterings...

Happy New Year! I received a seed order today. I’ve done a lot of vegetable but this year I am trying more flowers from seed. I ordered coleus and Heuchera seeds after watching your videos! I’m so looking forward to my seed starting.
