I’m also not a busy person, retired, no children to run to lessons, birthday parties, etc. I enjoy planning, and I use them to force myself to do something. If my planner looks a little sad with the empty spaces, I find something to do. A new coffee shop, a used bookstore, Anything that gets me out of the house for a bit. It’s also a way to keep my declutterring projects moving along. I watch a lot of YT planners, but you’re the one who encourages me to be more creative in my planner. I don’t think I would have used stickers without your videos.

I'm in a similar boat, but on the other side: 21, no children, and I just had hip surgery! I'm not a busy bee at the moment, but journaling is still such a beneficial practice, even for things as simple as marking whether I read during the day or did a hobby. Best of luck with your 2025 planning!

I think this is my first time commenting on one of your videos, but I have watched quite a few. I love your style. And, I love that you have such a sharing and compassionate spirit and have shared a lot of your experiences and inspire a lot of people, myself included. I don't know why, but I want to share some of my story as well because I found a lot of encouragement from your channel, especially this video. I am 30 and used to be a huge planner girl, then went to a bullet journal; my life is not as scheduled or routine based and I am disabled, so as years went on I got more discouraged by planning and journaling because I felt as though I lost the value of the day to day. I few years ago my whole life turned on its axis and I had nothing but straight traumatic and devastating seasons for an entire 3.5-4 years. Last year my extreme wilderness season (albeit an understatement) started to slow down as I started to notice we were entering a new type of season, thanks to my Jesus. In a "rebuilding" via "baby steps every day" kind of way. I'm in a very intense healing journey. I have been stuck on how to lay out or structure my planning and journaling system over the past month or two; thanks to my adhd I tend to get stuck often. As I watched this video I felt some sparks. Thank you so much.

OMG my heart skipped a beat when you said you are combining your creative journal and planner and then also a junk journal. This is so what I want to do and cannot wait to see how it goes. Like yourself I have fell off using planners and have had a lot of life issues and also chronic pain and your video has inspired me to try again with you. All the best to you and the family for the New Year and hope it is much happier for you all especially with the new additions! Happy New Year to Bumble too my dog Luna loves hearing him in the background as do I. 🐶 🦴 ❤

Now that I've started my own little channel, I just wanted to say "Thank you!" You're truly an inspiration, Mary Ellen. I have been putting my planner and journal together for a couple of years now, and I love it. Somedays, if I'm sick or don't have much to say, I'll expound on some great thought or Bible verse that encourages my soul. I am, however, boring with putting my planner at the top, so I look forward to your ideas. I'm a private music teacher, and my daughter doesn't drive because of various disabilities so I have a schedule of driving her to work and then my teaching schedule and etc. So, keeping things at the top directs my eye. My daughter keeps complimenting me on my spreads, so I must be doing something right. Hee, hee. I really enjoy your creativity and how you share with the world. Blessings, Bryn

Mary Ellen, I just really enjoy watching your videos and listening to your processing of your thoughts as you plan in. Just explain what you’re using and why you’re using it. It is so concise and clear. I’ve always enjoyed your videos since I started being part of this Planner community back in 2020, and in my opinion a year at the very top of the top. I feel like you do this because you really love it and you stay genuine and transparent with everyone. Don’t ever stop making videos about finding content in your life. I loved your platter lineup, I am still working on mine, but definitely was inspired by some of your choices, but especially how youare using your planners.

I tried the dashboard in 2024 as well. I gave up and switched to a classic vertical. For 2025, I am going to a big vertical. I just want to be able to add normal size papers into it without cutting them down. Plus we are in that super busy, everyone in different directions, season of life so I need more space.

I’m staying in a big next year, I love to decorate that size and I write big, combining my catch all and health & wellness. My classic is for bills, house projects and trying to de-clutter my home with the journal in the back. The disc bound system is so perfect for all this. I have a new junk/creative journaling book too like yours that I’m very excited to use for many of the same things. Thank you for sharing. 💜💜

Yay so glad you went back to the big and your planning and journaling both in it. Same, no kids at home and we’re retired so not a lot to write so I like to journal more than plan. I went to the big few years back because of you so I’m so happy to see you go back. You’ll have lots to write about with new grand babies. I journal a lot of what my great grandkids say and do because I know their parents don’t so in years to come they can look back at my planner and remember what the babes said or did.

When I was younger journaling was a breeze because life seemed more dramatic and intense. As I got older I journaled less to the point where I would go months without picking up a pen. When I did I coul barely fill half a page. I've been following you from the beginning and have seen how your planning style has changed. I noticed awhile ago you would do a little journaling in you Big HP catchall. It wasn't every day. Just when something was good, bad, or ok. It would be a drawing, sticker, or words in a different font. I tried it, fell in love, and have been doing it ever since. Thank you beautiful lady!🤗💕

I commend you for trying to do a planner that is book bound. I have adhd as well and I just cannot stick to a "bookbound" planner. I change my mind too much lol, which is why I have to have a happy planner. You had a lot of stuff hit you hard this past year so its understandable that you fell off. And that is ok, get back up and start again. It is a new year and that is probably why it feels so exciting for you. I was in a dashboard this year and I have switched back to a vertical. I am looking forward to this next year with you. You are a true inspiration.

I switched from a classic to a big mid year for the same reason. I couldn’t keep up with journaling and planning when they were in separate books. But a Big give me breathing room to decorate and plan and have just enough space to journal a bit. I love it! I’m tempted by the next shiny “thing” but for 2025 I’ll commit to the Big.

Love it! ❤❤❤❤ I liked to add dot grid pages between my (I used horizontal) weeks for journaling. With happy planner, I was able to use as few or as many pages I needed between the weeks. Like I’d have notes to Tuesday on the left, two dot pages, and then the rest of the week on the right. It worked for a bit until I moved out of it.

@jaquelinemythril2602Ай бұрын
Oh, and I like to use the year overview style pages (like the H&O Quarterly overviews) for a "Last time I..." style spread. I'm usually bad at using them for a daily or weekly purpose, and I find it too repetitive to use them for important dates (those go straight in the monthlies). They cover a large enough time window for stuff you do infrequently though (changed oil, new toothbrush, medication renewals, yearly appts) 😁
@yesiamsharonАй бұрын
I hope you don't mind me sharing but I pretty much plan and journal in my weekly vertical. My brain cannot deal with more than one planner. I realized I loved having complete context to my notes about my life when it is embedded in the weekly. When I need more room to express myself for that week, I add in either a half page or a full page and that stays there for that week forever. Looking forward to your setup video whenever it arrives.

I’m back!!! I wandered off a while ago after following you first thing everyday from day one. Don’t know why?! Anyway, caught your unveiling of 2025 planners, and I’m back! I use a classic with checklist layout, and love it. Top row for daily focus, checklist for daily to-do, bottom row for weekly lists- shopping, chores, etc. Big column in left for weekly menu and below for weekly focus. Very pragmatic, not much room for decorating, but it works for me. My creative outlet tends toward collage, so your junk journal plans are intriguing to me. So Hi! Ellen in MN

So funny, I just received my first H&O planner, also nimbus color. The paper quality, binding, and muted aesthetics make it absolutely luxurious. Now that I have it I’m shocked that it wasn’t more expensive. I was ecstatic to see the B5 minimalist. I need just that little bit bigger space and vertical is the only thing my brain can successfully navigate. I’ve always had planners with ALL the goal setting/planning like PowerSheets and Passion Planner, but once I fill them out, I don’t actually end up using them. The minimalist is perfect- still has quarterly and yearly overviews in front and 20 blank sheets in back that I’ll use for trip/holiday/special event planning. They’ve still got quite a selection available and a nice sale going.

I understand about the content thing. Everything you do you wonder, "why am I NOT filming this?" Dont let yourself fall into that trap. I did and it finally gave me a heart attack. Take it easy. Enjoy making your content, make your content work for you, not you working for it. Now, I dont make my living off youtube either. However, I did learn in 2024 the stress of being a content creator can have negative effects on your health IF YOU LET IT. So dont. Your viewers will still love what you put out, and will cherish it more if they know you feel good about doing it. Make it a Happy New Year for YOU.

Also, I am not super hip to the new planners and journals these days as I've been out of the loop for a long time, so I've never heard of Hemlock & Oak. something I've been extremely stuck on is finding a planner and a journal set up that I actually like. I wanted weekly and daily, but more on the flexibility side too. I really didn't want to spend a ton of money, and I also been dreading the idea of 2-3 different books at once to achieve the idea in my head. The closest to the idea I have found as a reference has been the hobonichi things (expensive!) and loosely based off of what I like about the Erin Condren plannners.... As soon as you showed the black daily planner I literally gasped lol. I LOVE it. It was like love at first sight. I figured that maybe if it was affordable (which is hard) I could settle for that as a daily... I went to the site, and not only do they have SO MANY amazing products, THEY HAVE FREE DOWNLOADS. So I can now test my theoretical frankenjournal. So this video not only helped me feel supported and validated and motivated, but you may have solved my planner conundrum, and I don't have to push the boundaries of my low income budget in order to get a kickstart on my journaling revival. I intend to pay it forward by using your affiliate links in the future, I just appreciate so much. I know it sounds so dramatic but I've really been distressed with my setup situation, as silly as it sounds. And I sat at my desk today looking through youtube videos for the upteenth time and just happened to play this while I got comfortable. Thank you!

I did passion planner for 7 years and moved over to that and its been literal he-double-hockey-sticks. But I don't like the mid year ones so I stuck it out, painfully 😂. But I am back in a passion planner and couldn't be happier for it to fit my needs.

Maybe can u just make a wellness section in your regular planner? Just tracking the wellness things you want to track in that.

I love decorating a Big Happy Planner. It’s the planner my mom uses and I decorate it for her 😊

Have you seen ‘Amy Plans Things’…think you’d enjoy her. She does a lot of what you’re talking about. Liking all you’re talking about in this v. Happy 2025! I’ll be watching!! ❤

What brand is the notebook you used for 2024 wellness journal. Absolutely love the cover!

I love the reading journal. Can’t wait to see your new content this year. P.s. The ‘book bound’ junk journal is going to get very junky. After you add concert ticket stubs, airline tickets, restaurant menus, recipes, photos, …, it will be hard to keep closed. 😉

Hey there! Love your lineup for this year. I’m in love with the journal you picked for your junk journal. Where is that from?

I’ll be interested in seeing the traditional junk journaling. I don’t have much going on in my life, so, I combine things in one planner.

I am curious what a bound planner looks like at the end of the year after filling it with stickers and washi? I am thinking that it won't really close flat but be fanned out.

The quarterly in the work planner could maybe be used for revenue tracking for taxes? Not sure how well it would work but I believe they're due quarterly so maybe that could be useful.

Honestly i have 3 planners. Besides my work planner, i barely write in them. Lol. I just like decorating them. No pressure!

I'm excited you're doing junk journaling. ❤

Me too! It’s daunting though sort of!

How will the junk journal work with that type of spine? I was using a spiral that had an elastic strap and it’s gotten a lot thicker over the past few years (slow journal-er).

I think Jane’s agenda has a similar weekly layout that you can use in your discbound system.

Wow so glad I found you! I’m not artistic in any way shape or form and now want to know more. I’m the same age, live alone, children grown , live in Australia. I have newbie questions, I hope that’s ok. - How do you read so many books? I fall asleep reading them - Can you show your planner stash, where do you get everything?
@PlanningwithBumbleАй бұрын
Welcome! At least half of these are audio books. I listen when I clean, walk the dog, in the car, etc. A lot of the physical books are read on vacation, or while I’m eating my meals

As far as my planner stash, still waiting for my room to be more organized! I do have older videos of my previous craft room setup and tour though!
