OK, from Brookside drive south to the 71st street bridge, go over the "what river" and there is a large shopping area over there called Tulsa Hills that has every store known to man. Go north to 15th street and you will be in the Cherry street district and there are a lot of nice restaurants and bars up that way. That is probably near the Farmers market that you went to.

My girls and I went to that farner's market this year on opening day -- so much fun!! We're from the OKC area, but had never been to that one. There's one over on Cherry Street too that we had planned to go to, but then we spent too much time at "yours." Downtown Tulsa is having a slow rebirth and if you stick around long enough, you will come to love it. Good with a small group (3 or 4). LOVE that you're making these videos for others to know what it's like from an outsider's perspective.

I rented a scooter on the river trail once, then twice, then decided to go buy one for me and my wife. Then went nearly every day. One of my favorite things to do. I haven't yet since I moved but hope to soon, once I get a bit settled in. I'm still near the trail but way far south beyond the casino. I was near the gathering place before.

Most of the suburbs of Tulsa are safe. However we do still have some sundown towns (towns not safe for people who are not white either at all or after dark). You can easily find info on them on the internet.

Ah, yes: the roads: Especially in your area they are pretty knarly. I think the reason is not that they don't repair them, but the water table is really high and the water pipes are not buried very deep. In the winter when it gets bitterly cold that pipes freeze and the water mains burst. Back in I think 21 when Houston had their freeze, we had it here too....... I think at one time there were over 500 broken water mains in the city of Tulsa and a big number of them were in the Utica Square area. And in the summer when it gets extremely hot, the water expands in the mains and there are impromptu street fountains.......a lot in that same area; same reason. The roads are especially bad in the winter when we have freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw: it breaks up the asphalt.
@keeturned404 ай бұрын
That makes sense abt why they don’t fix the roads. Pipes were breaking in Houston too that time. TX had its share of bad roads…those big cracks/potholes on I-45 are something. I saw something on KZbin about a new type of asphalt they’re testing in NYC that can absorb water and expand with freezes & stuff. Maybe something like will come to Tulsa eventually if it works.

Here’s a couple I can think of: The Edge, The View, The Flats on Archer, Meridia all are in/very close to Downtown. In the Tulsa Remote process they will provide a list of vetted apartments. Some offer concessions for members.

Agressive niceness. Can you explain that to me? I don’t know how showing kindness, includes being aggressive. I’ve met people visiting Tulsa with Tulsa Remote, I don’t want anyone to think my kindness is aggressive.
@L1211-e8v4 ай бұрын
Oh I remember you. 😊
@keeturned404 ай бұрын
@@L1211-e8v From Collins Dictionary: Aggressive (adjective): full of enterprise and initiative; bold and active; pushing Hopefully, when taken in context with my positive opinion of Tulsans stated in the video, it’s clear that I don’t mean aggressive in a negative way. For those of us coming from cities where people are aggressively (in the negative sense) mean, angry, indifferent, etc., Tulsans being “aggressively” nice is a breath of fresh air! Please accept this as a compliment. 😊 Some Tulsa Remoters I’ve met have commented on this as well (not using “aggressive niceness” to describe it - that is just a phrase I used in the video) and it is always seen as positive. Ex: Another transplant commented on one of my videos that strangers here would sometimes touch or pick up her small child in stores - just walk up and do it without asking - which made her very uncomfortable at first. There was definitely an adjustment for me of getting used to Tulsans greeting me, wanting to interact and strike up conversations, seeing strangers as potential friends and not enemies, etc. after a lifetime of not talking to strangers. And strangers not talking to me unless they wanted something. But Tulsa feels very wholesome because of the people, and I love it!
@L1211-e8v4 ай бұрын

OMG, the people here crack me up. They are so nice. Even the people running the drive thrus are happy as hell. They are also very trusting. I'll run into a store, look to my right and litterally there is a car running with no one in it. Like they run into a store to grab a drink or something with the keys in the ignition running... WHAT THE ENTIRE WORLD? I moved here with my twins (8 months at the time) they are now 2.5. People love them some babies here. I got stopped like I was a celebrity. They would also cross boundries that I wasn't happy with, like touching them. I know that may be a normal thing here, but "No". I was a little flustered with my kids and all these people came over to "Help" and I'm still on team #TrustNoOne. lol Coming from Oregon, we don't use formal terms like "Ma'am or Sir" so that's something for me to get used to. Because before you address someone you find out thier pronouns. People just assume or don't care. So if people are sensitive to that, there will be some adjusting.

I still can’t get over the cars with windows down and wide open front doors 😳… I don’t know if they’re so trusting or everyone knows not to try anything cause it’s still Oklahoma after all & most folks are packing 🔫!! 🤣
