We moved to tulsa 2 years ago, and tulsa remote wasn't any help back then. The people subletting wanted california prices. We moved from california fyi. But we found a few places around 1200 to 1400ish apartments in South tulsa. It's not as cheap as we wanted, but it's gated, and we have had no mail issues. They did raise our rent 180, and as far as we can tell, rent will be raised in the large company owned properties. But if you watch all year round you will find decent houses owner rented for around 1000 to 1400 and promise not to raise the rent.

I was limited to apartments within Tulsa proper because I moved with Tulsa Remote. I heard the suburbs like BA & Jenks have better apartments and lower prices than Tulsa. Idk if you’re considering TR, but the $ incentives, housing discounts, business development programs made it worth it for me. Surrounding suburbs of Tulsa are better. Just stay away from Sapulpa and Sand Springs those areas West of Tulsa are heavily known to be against colored. Also most definitely stay away from Owasso extremely racist. There are wealthy areas in Tulsa and Oklahoma City of you want city life other than that there’s some fine areas just outside city limits but are suburbs right before you get into the rural areas. Jenks, Claremore, Glenpool, Bixby, & Broken Arrow are fine, properties there are more likely to be better without seeing them than the inner city spaces in Tulsa and OKC unless you are living in Downtown OKC. Surrounding areas of OKC(which is less than a couple hours drive from Tulsa) Nichols Hills, Piedmont, Edmond, stay away from Yukon because they’re pretty biased, Moore is nice but most tornadoes hit that city so staying in parts closest to southwest OKC is best, Norman is really nice but can be snobby a bit 😂 but I hear they don’t like colored but I personally haven’t had issues with that other than a one on one with some woman that thought she was better than me and had nerve to come at me sideways and I checked that @$$ so I was okay I don’t blame the city it was clear she was insecure but I wasn’t being fully backed up and so it reminded me of an owasso situation and I ain’t got time for them nimrods. Spencer is country as hell and colorful. Southwest OKC is predominantly Hispanic, Northeast OKC is being gentrified and doing better as a predominantly colored area. Mid-Del City was okay too.

@@keeturned40 Maybe being from Texas you may adjust better than me. Good Fortune to you. And look at the statics for OK and check out your needs of food and health care. Shopping is not great in a lot of choices. Food is the same. I miss Blimpies. And the restaurants don't taste the same as Houston. Many taste like cardboard. But maybe you will be able to find good ones. Look at a fixer upper if you can get one. It may be better than renting. Expect a slower pace and no action out here. If you find something better, loose the fee. And expect many fees. Ok. I hope the best for you. Good Fortune to you.

@@lindakingsley-gx2td Thanks so much 🙏🏾 I’ve been here almost 2 months and hoping for the best. You are the 2nd person to comment about the cardboard food…lol I have not tried too many restaurants yet, but will give some a chance. I noticed what you said with store too, some people commented to try the suburbs for better shopping. All the best to you too!! Thanks for being honest with your pros and cons. I’ll probably keep my TX dentist, doctor n stuff & go just go when I visit. ❤️

@@keeturned40 Smart move with health care. Doctors and dentists don't seem to last long out here. They move on quickly. Thanks for reading. Again Good Fortune to you and yours.

I grew up in Tulsa, moved away for almost 40 years, then returned six years ago, right before real estate skyrocketed. Living in Florida was definitely cheaper. Here my property tax is FOUR times what I paid in the Orlando area. I Pat state tax now, tax on food and medicine, and a few other things are a little more expensive. But I no longer have to treat to prevent roaches, or ants, or fire ants, or basically any of insects, no snakes or gators to worry about. So do absolutely love the four seasons here, although I could live without summer. Oh yeah, people think it’s humid here which makes me lazy gh.

@@beckycpc1 For Tulsa Remote I’m not allowed to live outside Tulsa city limits/zip codes for the 1st year 😢 I will definitely be checking BA if I stay in OK…so many people are commenting it’s more affordable there!
