If there was anything to take away from this, it was at the 8:39 mark. Make sure you are running towards something instead of running away from something. I think for a lot of people who dream of quitting the 9-5, those feelings probably stem from wanting to run away from the 9-5. But that hopefully shouldn't be a problem so long as it is recognized, and then you can start to think about what you want to start running towards. Awesome video again my man. Look forward to more from you. I bet many who are watching you now (just like myself) are teetering on that fence of should i do it lol.

This really resonated with me as well!!! What an amazing concept and mindset to have. For example have a side hustle that you do on the side and then build it as it is what your running towards! my struggle is that I am the only one working and am a family of 6 (4 kids who are 10 and under, myself and my wife). We rely heavily on the Health Insurance as well, which is another downside to quitting for me. But most of it has been trying to believe in myself if I could really do it...15 years of corporate America is really hard to get away from once you are use to the paycheck to paycheck and then the thought of going into the uncertainty is very overwhelming.
@charloettie3 жыл бұрын
This is SO relatable. I have not stayed in many jobs long because ultimately despite the fear, self-doubt and uncertainty that comes with self-employment, I cannot stand to unhappily work for someone else or a company and am way more happy and wealthier when I work for myself and am actually happy doing what I do and don’t feel trapped. I was also lucky to work and save when I was young to afford myself flexibility and autonomy in my 30s. Fear of instability and uncertainty keeps people trapped in jobs they hate.

I am very interested in your perspective. Quitting my job is my ultimate goal, because it means I can support myself from my passion. My biggest worry of doing so is that my passion would then have added pressure to focus on income making it feel forced and feel like a job again. Also, the social stigma would be huge, I don't know how I would even go about telling my foreign parents lol.
@MichaelOblitey3 жыл бұрын
First of all I can relate to you about the foreign parents. My parents were born and raised in Accra, Ghana. Second it def is a huge leap to go after your passions and it being your source of income. My advice, and this is just advice lol, focus on providing value and service to your customer. I have come to realize that when you chase money it leaves, but if you chase providing service and value to others, then money will chase you! Hope that helps!
@JacobKustra3 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelOblitey That is very good advice! Thank you! I believe you are completely right but I have personally seen many people swayed toward easy money and now just don't seem happy! I guess it takes some sort of willpower or something not to do so.

That's true - there's always the worry of your passion turning into something that you no longer enjoy doing because you're being compensated for it. Hopefully we'll be able to find a balance with this. The situation with your parents is tough and I can 100% relate since my parents were born in China. Are you able to try to start your passion project and maybe make a decent amount of income first before you officially quit? That way you show your parents that it's a feasible path
@JacobKustra3 жыл бұрын
@@VincentChan that’s very true! It’s my plan to first show a “proof of concept” and hope that makes it easier for them to understand. But they are so traditional I don’t think they will like it because it’s not something they understand. But perhaps they will and I am worrying for nothing! Either way I have a while before I need to truly worry about that, but working at it one day at a time!

Most regrets of quitting are because it wasn't thought out to begin with. This is my weekly topic for my own subscribers. Career. One thing that can really bring a person into depression is 40 hours a week of hating their job. The job is literally almost half of the waking life. The problem many people have is that they have a craving for security. The person will tolerate being unhappy if that is their normality. People would rather have secure bitterness than the fear of stepping off the cliff. The fact is that you can change your career anytime. At 40 or 50. I once knew a car salesman of 30 years who did really well but started to hate his job--so became a nurse at 57. He is now a travel contractor. His friends told him he would be 57 by the time he got licensed as an RN. He told them he would be 57 anyway. So he will now spend the next ten years doing something he likes instead of something he hates. But you have to decide if it is life on the sea you hate or just that ship you're traveling on. In other words--do you hate your trade or just the company you're at? But whatever you aren't happy with you must change and continue to advance yourself. Hope this helps someone---Charles.

I have so many things to do, my boss has been kind enough to help me, telling me to list down documents that are missing for every staff,reaching out to various parties to request them to return my email. Now I basically just cleaned up other people's mess with missing records, I think if the previous staff had maintained proper records,my job would have been easier. I am just 2 months almost 3 months into my first job.

Your idea for teaching young ones about personal finance is really great. Honestly, I really wish I have the knowledge about personal finance at a tender age. Maybe I won't be struggling this much right now.

Hi Vincent, the struggle and anxiety is real! Every freelancer or company owner can relate to that. The experience you are taking from editing videos and being in front of a camera are very valuable and you can decide anytime to offer your services to a company, if needed. There will always be work for someone creative and dedicated as you! I suppose that is the only security we can draw from life - that we have the capacity to respond to whatever challenge we face in a creative and solution oriented manner. Good luck on your journey.

I totally relate to feeling lonely sometimes hahahha but then we learn to feel great being by ourselves and we get to know ourselves more, at the end everything pays off! C:

I recently quit a 10 year career job to start on my own. To keep finances going I got a part time job as a delivery driver (which has ended up as nearly full time ranging from 6am to 11pm shifts, not in one go lol). Feel so busy with that and a small online ecom store at the minute so I'm keeping on going and hopefully they will pay out one day :D

I plan on finding a career where I am emotionally fulfilled in 2022. I am working on getting all my debts paid off, so I can not be in the mindset of owing someone else, but me owing myself peace, happiness, and abundance.

doesn't exist...you will only be "fulfilled" when you work for yourself..hard to grasp, but if you live or die by your own hand? you can really get busy living...most jobs suck, they only last a year or so and most industries will be gone nearly in the same time frame...you gotta be in something that people need everyday
@dollarbilllife39053 жыл бұрын
@@andrefecteau that is the truth, and I am looking at being my own boss. I have noticed everywhere I have worked has only been ok for about a year, then something happens, and I want to get away from that job. Thanks for that comment. It's just more of a confirmation to me that I need to be an independent worker!
@andrefecteau3 жыл бұрын
@@dollarbilllife3905 yep, I gotta start a channel soon to tell ya'll "it's normal"...after a year you should know if your future is there or not...eventually? you gotta go solo, then create your own product that you sell...until then? You are radio gaga

Money is only one aspect of life, it is temporary, it can come and go. Good health is the most valued asset and priceless. Freedom from not becoming an employee is nice.

Just seeing this video, actually thinking about quitting myself. I’m young and don’t have much financial debt but I would still need to find ways to earn enough to survive. My job doesn’t bring me much joy and I want to pursue things I’m more interested in - writing articles/tweets about crypto. But I’m just worried I won’t be able to earn any income

I’m 36 years old. Juggled 3 jobs for the past 12 years. I managed to invest and buy 3 properties during this time. One of my jobs working for the government was so draining. The other two are great because they are my Own business. I just sold one of my properties and will have 1 million in cash once it closes. Plus 2 other properties that I rent out. Next day I quit my 9-5 job I’m super happy now. The key to get to this point is not needing them. However I had to hustle extremely hard for 12 years to get to a place at 36 where I’m financially free for

My only regret is listening to all my coworkers explain to me how to “fit” into my current profession. Things never felt right, but I listened to them because I thought that was the only way to make a living. I wish someone would’ve explained to me that its better to diversify your opportunities. Now I Invest in myself to improve my human capital. Oh and don’t worry about the whole imposter syndrome thing. You’re much more relatable when you are semi-lost, like all of us. Lol.
