I like the fact that you mention that business, jobs etc. should be source of income and not equity. Investing is more about protecting and growing your wealth. These days YT is full of videos where people are showing dreams of making income just by investing in equity. I too feel main source of income should be your work.

@remoterish14 күн бұрын
Flexi cap are like a random unpredictable mix of stocks so you’re heavily dependent on the fund manager and you’re basically leaving your money to a person to decide what to do. They also don’t make sense to me because I can’t manage my allocation across the various caps. For both those reasons and lastly a high expense ratio (which increases more often for flexicap funds) keep me away from flexi cap in general.

@remoterish4 ай бұрын
Personally, I’m not a big fan of FlexiCap funds. I prefer to have clarity and control over my investments in large, mid, and small cap segments by managing them separately. This way, I can analyze each part of my portfolio and make specific adjustments based on my goals and market performance. With FlexiCap funds, the allocation across different caps can change frequently, and I prefer to have more transparency in how my investments are distributed. For me, it's important to know exactly where my money is going and to manage it according to my long-term strategy.

I have a base SIP that keeps me consistently investing, no matter what the market conditions are-this ensures I stay disciplined and don't try to time the market too much. But at the same time, I regularly review my portfolio and rebalance based on my allocation goals (once or twice a year). Then I’ll make lump sum investments (one time or staggered based on the amount) to balance things out.

how a beginner should start investing like index, mf, stocks?(mid,small,large)
@remoterish4 ай бұрын
If I had to start investing all over again, here’s how I’d do it, keeping things simple and focused on long-term growth: Index Funds First: I’d start by putting most of my money into low-cost index funds like Nifty 50 and Nifty Next 50. This would give me exposure to large companies across the market without having to worry about picking individual stocks. It’s a hands-off way to build wealth over time, and it’s what I still rely on for most of my large-cap investments. Mid and Small Caps through Mutual Funds: After I got comfortable with the basics, I’d start exploring mid and small-cap mutual funds. I would still stay away from stocks at any level. But I don't mind keeping a 10-20% experiment portfolio though my core portfolio will be index funds.
@Anumastishka5 ай бұрын
Sir I believe that index investing is the optimal strategy for long-term wealth accumulation and is well-suited for a passive investment approach. However, you might consider allocating a small portion of your portfolio (less than 5%) towards direct stock investments. This allocation can enhance your potential for significant returns, as individual stocks, through mechanisms like stock splits, bonuses, and dividends, have the potential to deliver substantial gains over time. While you currently hold large-cap stocks, which generally offer stable returns but with limited growth potential, investing in fundamentally strong mid-cap or small-cap companies could provide higher growth opportunities. Over the long term, it is possible that several of these smaller-cap investments could achieve multibagger returns, offsetting any losses from other investments in your portfolio. What is your perspective on this approach? waiting for your answer please don't say that you don't have time to find good stocks 😅

Yes, that much of my portfolio or even a bit more is still stock investments from the investments I had made earlier. I am not selling them. But I'm not actively researching or buying new stocks anymore. Yes, I’ve invested around 3 Cr over the years (I would say around 6 years consistently) my strategy has generally been a mix of lump sum and staggered investments, depending on the market conditions and my goals at the time. For larger amounts, I usually break it down into parts. If I’m investing over a year, I’ll allocate a portion as lump sum when I find good entry points, and the rest through SIPs which keep going on at a certain level. That said, I am not trying to time the entry, just splitting it through the given timeline..

This is genuinely a very useful video. Quick question: 1. what should someone do if they have a huge lumpsum amount like in high lakhs. How to invest such high amounts? 2. I invest in smallcases, and marking each stock by size will be tiresome. Any easy way for me to create such charts?
@remoterish4 ай бұрын
Thanks Vaibhav 1. the word huge (like in lakhs) is relative. it's better to do a % wise analysis.. I will usually manually pace my investments but if they're < 15L, I'll just go ahead and do it in one shot. But again this is not a recommendation for everyone. It's always good to invest slowly in phases as there's no rush in case of long term investing. 2. I don't invest in smallcases so I'm not sure how this can be done. This is also the reason I don't invest anymore in flexi cap funds etc. I like to do the analysis and adjust my portfolio which is hard with those mixed bag funds etc.

@remoterish4 ай бұрын
Yes, cash to phased investments will be good enough as per me. Someone told me to do debt liquid funds but many banks these days give a sweep in FD option which is usually similar return as the liquid debt funds so I don't think an extra step in moving money in and out of debt funds helps much, esp because it's very short term.

Hi, how do you record all the data in spreadsheet sheets. Is it automated? Please help . Anybody ?
@remoterish4 ай бұрын
It can be automated but I like doing it manually once a month so I can review my money while I do it. Just export the portfolio from your investing apps and expense tracking apps. If you’re not using any apps I can make a video on what apps I use
@runkevin4 ай бұрын
@@remoterish it will be of great help. I have been investing in reits and etfs. I don’t know how to maintain the record on a sheet. I want it to happen automatically. Is it possible? I can record it manually but it becomes too much of a task .

Sure, no problem. I knew some ways to auto-update sheets using tools and scripts. But the manual updates bring so much value, as they act as a form of review of the finances.

Why you are not putting your all money in Mid cap knowing that this is the only option will give you better return in long term as compared the Nifty 50, Nifty Next 50, Gold & Silver.
@remoterish5 ай бұрын
Yes, I think I've answered this question in the video. For me, the returns aren't important. I like to invest my money in the total market using my strategy to cover different company sizes.

Why PGIM India and Canara Robeco in your list ? Lot of better options are there. Is there any specific reason ?
@remoterish4 ай бұрын
Yes, no specific reason. I'm just going with the ones I had started. I think there are better options too. Don't want to make huge changes on the portfolio as some of them might perform in a 5 year period, then another set might perform in the next 5 years.. If i want to invest for a few decages, I will just be moving money around every few years and I don't want to do that.

I want to correct you that my portfolio is even simpler than what a college student can do. In fact my 3 year old daughter also understands the fundamentals of my portfolio :) That's the beauty if it. I agree for most people earning money is going to be way more important than investing. Just remember my videos are just a documentation of my journey and not being forced on anyone to apply in their life. Thank you so much Rishabh for great analysis and transparency. Query: If it is feasible to explain how to invest large sum of money (ex. 1 Cr) in short period of time as my equity exposure is low compared to net worth. Investment are for long term like 20 to 25 Years. Also shall we consider the expensive valuations of markets in current scenario.
@remoterish5 ай бұрын
My take on this is : The longer term you invest for, the less issue a lumpsum is But it's never a problem to invest in a staggered way because if you're in your 20s or 30s there isn't a rush as such

Question & Suggestion from your subscriber. I think you should review our portfolio. So that everyone can learn from real life examples. Question: Can I keep mid cap and small cap exposure to 36% each? Portfolio Paragh Parikh Flexi Cap 27.27% Quant small cap 36.36% Motilal mid cap 36.36% My age is 29 and I want to stay invested for more than 10 years. It would be great if you can discuss this in a your upcoming video.
@remoterish5 ай бұрын
Hi Sachin, I'm really happy to hear from a subscriber and always open to supporting. However, I am unable to do portfolio reviews for others since it's a very personal thing (Finance) and everyone has different life circumstances. I can't review from my lens. Hence, I choose to share my own portfolio and learnings instead. If a portfolio review is needed, I think it's best to consult a certified financial advisor for the same. My personal split is very close to yours. At this age, more mid cap and small cap exposure is good but that's just for me. I will probably not need any of the money from my portfolio for a few decades.
