Hey Mickey thanks so much for the video. I'm JUST reading your comment about "vacation" caused by depression and burnout. Hopefully you're feeling better. Thailand is the first country I visited during a very painful time in my life. I was almost instantly healed. Fell in love with the country. Take care and I look forward to more of your stuff. God bless.

Hi Rob! Yes, that's right, I needed some personal time due to the depression and burnout. It's been a pretty busy year that I've spent developing this channel and riding across the country, and eventually my body and brain demanded to make a pause to recover. in 2021 Thailand didn't look like Thailand we all know (just like any other country of the world, due to this crazy pandemic), but hopefully things get better in 2022
@randomrobthoughts96072 жыл бұрын
@@MickeyStotch You know... COVID never scared me. The psychological effects of how the world handled the pandemic is what terrifies me. Suicide rates going up. So many people loosing their mind. Depression is up. People are angry and miserable. I really DO believe things will get better but hopefully it's sooner than later. Please take care of yourself and always put yourself number one.

I felt the same way when I visited. I only went for a few weeks but I instantly felt connected to the people and the country as a whole. For being a relatively poor country, the people seem super happy and joyous.

So refreshing to see a Thailand vlogger / traveler who can communicate in Thai language with the locals... Compare that with the western vlogger "experts" who cannot pronounce correctly "Pattaya" after living there for 10 years 🤣🤣🤣
@HaleRakDa2 жыл бұрын
Actually some words are pronounced differently in english depending on the specific region the person originates from, this is usually based on how and where they breakdown the syallables of the word from. Yes, Thai people may say it a certain way and you should state it that way but some people learn it originally from reading it the first time in english the way stated above.

I'll try to explain, why some place they charge the electricity's bill. Because in Thailand apartment and condominium are not the same. Condominium they have their own house number for each room that mean your electricity bill came straight from government but apartment have the only one house number which is belong to the owner of the building. Due to the policy of the government that they want you to save the electricity, more electricity that you use a month the more bill you pay ( I don't remember the rate ). So that why apartment in Thailand have to charge the electricity bill, like my apartment have 50+ rooms maybe that my apartment use power 5000 unit a month(*4.5 Government rate) is 22500 bath, but I actually pay like 50-80% more cause the government considered my apartment is wasted of electricity. Apologize for my bad English. I hope you understand.
@nickturner28132 жыл бұрын
Nonsense. The reason some places charge extra for electricity (and water) is because they are illegally imposing a higher rate that goes into the landlord's pockets together with the rent.

Cost of electric per unit, its depend on type of meter and type of building/house/apartment register with metropolitan. Normal rate 4.7-6 baht/unit, also depend on how many unit that you use too. Because the FT Value will step up by level of unit using. Anyway raise the price of gas and oil will increase electric price soon.

@nickturner28132 жыл бұрын
_"Cost of electric per unit, its depend on type of meter and type of building/house/apartment register with metropolitan"_ . Nonsense, the electricity rate is set by the government, anything over that rate (approx B4.5 per unit) goes to the owner/landlord to supplement his rental charge and, although is it common, is illegal.

So true about barber-salons. I find that women hair “stylists” cannot cut my hair as good as a man hair stylist and it seems the younger barbers are more aware what I want than the older barbers ( and I am “old” also). Yes, best to go to a salon that is busy but the hair salons at the malls are overpriced because of the rent they pay. Many of these “neighborhood” barber / hair salon shops are owned / rented by the fellow who is cutting your hair.
