I love it ! I think the only people that will bust your balls are the guys that make metal barrels ! I do printing and WHY NOT. you and I know we are not talking about a fire arm that makes combustion . I think you came up with a innovative idea. Aluminum barrels ware with steel balls so if this wares who cares replace it ! as we all know rapid fire with co2 freezes o-rings so the only thing I would question is the temperature of the co2 and the printed barrel I'm big on bore matching and with this idea you can make bore matched barrels on the cheap . KEEP GOING BRO GREAT IDEA .. WHY NOT

It would be cool to see this paired with a rail mounted compensator. If you design the barrel and compensator with a tongue and groove style system so that the compensator was also holding the barrel in place along with the threads, I would think that would definitely be strong enough to handle whatever pressure co2 is capable of. Safety goggles always a must though.

i want a 3D PRINTER SO BAD , i mean one like from star trek lol , imagine not the ones up to a hundred dollars , few hundred dollars , but the sophisticated ones costing several thousand dollars , . BUT I GUESS ONE UP TO 500 DOLLARS WOULD DO THE THINGS I WANNA DO ! . i had the taught of making carbon fiber barrels decades ago ever since they came out with the carbon type arrows almost 40 years ago . throughout my experience with my other equally loved sport and hobby , ARCHERY , i learned a lot about the pros and cons of carbon arrows ! carbon can be very dangerous , if you have ever cut carbon arrows you know of the dust and microscopic splinters they produce . when handling a damaged carbon arrow be very careful . they will deposit sometimes hundred or hundreds microscopic tiny shards in you skin , after handling the arrows , look at your fingers and hands with 30 to 100 magnification , you will see all the tiny needles and other shapes that are stuck in your skin , its kindda like working with fiberglass but way , way , way worst . like if you took a deer or something else with a carbon arrow that broke or shattered in the front end near or at the broad head , you would have to cut out a large area of the meat the entirety of the arrow travel path because of all the shards of carbon fiber that would be embedded into the meat , if you were to ingest the carbon fiber shards , your internal organs could greatly suffer as an eternal consequence of your actions ! the other thing you will notice is when carbon arrows crack on the sides of arrows , thats why you always test your c.f. arrows buy slightly bending them at different sections before shooting it again after it hit something other than its intended target . dont get me wrong , i love carbon fiber , for air powered weapons , the capabilities of making barrels and or barrel liners is the way to go , i have also come up with a way of helping carbon become even stiffer and tougher by coating them with glues , epoxies , clear paints , etc. it surprised me when i saw you making a video about 3d printed barrels in composite , it was def one of the first things i wanted to do if i ever got a 3d printer lol , i want to share another great idea of mine i have had , make you first barrel with threads on the end , then make extensions that can be screwed onto existing barrel , your extensions can be 2 to 4 inches long , that way you could just keep adding extensions on over and over again to create the perfect size length you want , and make your final section choked , meaning slightly smaller by a small fraction so the air could magnify at its maximum power before pushing the projectile out the barrel . you could also make thread protectors to screw on end once you are satisfied with its length , or just screw on a nice tactical style end to it , i.e. , ramming end , compensated end , flash hider type , or even put on a mock or real suppressor on the end !!! good luck to you and your friend in making the carbon fiber barrels my friend , let me know if you all need any more advice or ideas , i have many !!!! just remember to give me a copy of my awesome ideas if you ever produced them , I THINK IT WOULD BE A VERY LUCRATIVE ENDEAVOR TO MANUFACTURE SOME OF MY IDEAS , I HAVE TONS OF THEM , I JUST NEED SOME EQUIPMENT TO PRODUCE THEM MORE EASILY !!! LOL !!!! ......

100% infill printing, the barrels will be fine, yiur issue is more likely to be the bore consistency. You can hold the pressure fine in a pla barrel. The threads aren't under stress so it will not be use that kills them it will be repeated install and removal. It will die FAR faster than a metal barrel but it's not a pipe bomb. My expectation from previous things iv done is it will snap after cold temperature degradation caused by the co2.
@EastCoastLessLethal
@EastCoastLessLethal Ай бұрын
@ I think it will be fine. But I am skeptical. Some times guys like Sterling and Grimburg flip when someone finds an easier way to achieve what they did easier. But I do understand what Sterling is saying. It can be potentially risky and dangerous. That’s why a ton of testing needs to be done. It’s a shame guys in most hobbies and on KZbin are ego driven and financially driven Instead of working together to combine ideas and come up with something that improves things for everyone

And I know your fairly new to this but many guys have tried to make 3d printed barrels before and it always goes badly common sense will tell you a tiny little plastic thread is not going to hold up super dangerous and stupid and I’m not saying that because I make metal barrels. I’m saying that because it’s obvious 3-D printing is the easiest cheapest way to make parts doesn’t mean it’s a good idea, and putting this video out is going to have every guy with a 3-D printer endangering themselves

@@sterlingselfdefense-lessle6915 time will tell. I’m not so sure this is 100% accurate. The threads are not under any real pressure. Many frames are on firearms are 3d printed. Some guys make really good ones that do not crack even under that’s pressure.but time will tell and so will experimenting. So far hive shot about 50 rounds and no issues. If they break I’ll just build a better one. In 3D printing there are also new techniques to layering that were not done in the past to get much more strength. We shall see

@ dude dude I have dozens of 3-D printers. I’ve been printing for eight years and I’ve been making barrels for many years but I’m sure you’ve learned more than me and your basement but to tell people if it fails no big deal you just lost $40 how about when they lose their eyesight when the barrel explodes and plastic shrapnel shoots everywhere. and no one makes a barrel out of plastic and this may be a surprise, but you did not come up with this idea first many others have made that mistake and it is under pressure, especially when the plastic expands because of moisture and the round gets locked into the barrel and it explodes, but I guess you know better with your months of experience and 50 rounds

@@sterlingselfdefense-lessle6915 Lol Daniel. Take a chill pill I’ve seen your videos. I know you actually have a top notch full machine shop. It’s really awesome. But no need to get butt hurt Im really messing with you dude. Like I said in one of the videos. I was literally sitting around doing nothing and just decided to make one for shits and giggles. And it happened to work. I’m going to make a few more. I do have a serious question for you though I saw how you made that barrel that takes the freak insert. Hypothetically could you make an aluminum barrel that took a 3d printed carbon fiber insert? The reason I ask is. After watching your videos. And using the stock aluminum barrel. The joule numbers are all good. But they seem to drop quite a bit. With these cheap plastic ones I made. The power is the same as the stock barrel. But the consistency is much better. On dropping 2-10 feet on average for all 6 shots. I’m thinking if someone could do an aluminum barrel with a carbon fiber sleeve. They may be on to something. I just got a metal lathe for my motorcycle parts. I was going to tinker with that idea

@ I don’t get but hurt don’t matter to me what you do but don’t give guys bad ideas that can get them hurt there are sooooo many problems with a plastic barrel I won’t even bother listing them every 6 months some guy comes up with the same idea they just don’t blast it out on KZbin and if you sold those I guaranteed you would get sued if someone got a single splinter. It would cost you 250 K. And guys would do it on purpose just to get another lawsuit. I’ve been in business a long time just trying to save you your house and everything you own. It’s not worth the $40 profit.

@@sterlingselfdefense-lessle6915 yes honestly I do agree with you 100%. You are Very right about the lawsuit aspect. And people doing it on purpose. I honestly don’t think offering them for sale is wise either. But I will make a few more and fool around with them for myself. However back to my question. Do you think you could make a Carbon fiber sleeve that fit in your aluminum barrel and in your opinion would you think it would work. Then you have the aluminum threads. Also in something like an Hdp50 or an S2 a carbon fiber barrel has no threads. It’s simply held in by the clam shell. I’m interested to see if more consistency is gained by that? What do you think?
