I guess living in a dorm with other people can be seen as a trade-off. It is a unique opportunity to actually interact with another culture on a personal, daily basis. However, it can be extremely exhausting both mentally and physically, as rest is really important. I think it is really cool that you opted to go for shared dorms and I hope your body can survive! May be the dorm you live in is an old building. I've never see a dorm without bathroom after graduating from my high school many years ago. But anyway, I believe those dorm will be update(Many schools in China are doing this.)

They start feeling better after a while, but I don’t think it’s good for my joints to sleep sideways on a hard surface. Nowadays i don’t mind sleeping on the chinese bed. I’ve gotten used to it.

Yes, and shanghai is also super safe. There are security checks and cameras everywhere, including my school.

I think these through when I review the video before publishing. There is actually a ton of stuff that i’m not showing the camera but I agree that its something to be always careful of. I trust in the security of Shanghai and my last school day is tomorrow, so soon someone else is sleeping in my bed. Thanks for showing interest though, it’s quite rare nowadays. 👍

Great video and I love how you are positive and trying to absorb as much from the situation. Im currently also studying in Germany and live with 2 other people in the same room and I was really sad at first but once you decide to look at the positive and learn from other peoples cultures it become a little better. How did you deal with the snoring tho? im a really light sleeper and I can never get used to the opera at night xD

Yeah it has been an experience 100% The snoring I got used to when I bought earplugs. They have to be the soft kind to not be uncomfortable at night. Also, you can try to outsleep the snoring dude if you can fall asleep before him. Sounds like you have a good experience in Germany as well. Btw are you an exchange student or full time student in Deutchland? Hope you have fun there! 😄

@@ArniJ. Yeah I gave earplugs a try but sadly im a side sleeper so the pressure is a little too much but you are right I always try to sleep before them but if I wake up in the middle its over xD. Im doing my masters at Munich and I have to work part time since the rent prices here are too much I pay 600 euros for the current place so total with my 2 roommates 2000 euros the waiting period for the dorms here is 3-5 semesters :))))))) Do you ever think about applying to the other dorm where you have your own room or do you like it here more

@BSwift8 I’m here only for a relatively short time. So I’ll be back in my accomodation in Helsinki after this semester is over. The prices there are super high. It’s so expensive nowadays. Hopefully you find a good and suitable solution so that you can at least get better sleep. It’s important to sleep well.

The thing that a lot of people here don’t think about when ”easily buying on taobao” is how much single use waste is created. I’m here only for one semester and buying a mattress would be silly for just a short time. It’s not that i’m sleeping on rocks, so I’m fine with not buying extra stuff because I can’t sleep like a princess. I think the fact that I’m living and studying in China is alredy proof that I’m not afraid to be a bit uncomfortable.
