nah you can dunk at only 5'8 with a 35??? I'm 6'1 with a damn near 40 and i can't dunk
@NotGoodAtFantasy Жыл бұрын
@@bakerboy2267you’re probably measuring something incorrectly. Assuming your standing reach is about 8’1” since your 6’1”, you should only need roughly 23” vert to touch rim, and probably an additional 5-6” to be able to dunk. So we’re looking at a 28-29” inch vert to dunk at 6’1” Measure your standing reach by standing next to a wall and reaching as high as you can with a single hand, then subtract your standing reach from 10 feet which is the standard height for hoops. That will give you the vertical needed to touch rim, then add 5-6” and you’ll get the vertical needed to dunk

Mad respect to you bro! I’m 5’6 with 7 foot reach. I remember when I first touched rim in high school. I was determined to dunk but I was only able to dunk a tennis ball after about a decade with estimated running vertical of 40 inches on my good days. At age 40 now I can’t even touch the rim. However I’m getting motivation to start over again. At this time I won’t care as much if I cant get it but I simply want to challenge myself. Diet is the key!!!

Great video. Hopefully your journey and all you documented over the years will inspire others . There's plenty of people my height who can dunk but theres not many of 5'7" , your part of an elite club . You had so much to over come , from the bad ankle injury early on , (which would have seen most give up completely), to studying and school , realising you were out of shape and too heavy for jumping. You changed what needed changing and worked hard . Finding what worked for you and most importantly, you had the desire and an inner determination not to quit until you reached your goal , that's the key to your achievement.

This is the most realistic and inspirational Dunking journey out there. I'm fed up with dudes claiming gaining 16-20 inches in 6 months, when they just capped down their initial vert, so it would look like they gained a lot in a short time span. And I tell you, your body won't support the impact, the tendon-muscle complex contraction and relaxation needed to go from an untrained person with a low vertical, to the heigh needed to dunk a basketball from day to night. I understand some people are naturally blessed with more jumping specific body, and many are involved with sports from early age and are gonna be able to dunk effortlesly. But us mortals are gonna need patience, discipline and probably a few setbacks until we are able to dunk. I'm on this journey myself from late 2020/early 2021 (I had a major pause during pandemics, due to work and lockdown), and more or so consistently since beginning of 2022. When I began I wasn't able to dunk on 9'2 hoop being 6'3 tall. RN I'm able to dunk in 9'6. My goal is by the end of 2023 to be dunking in 10 ft at will.
@RiqB2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that bro! People need to realize that great things aren't easy. It's definitely possible to do it in a shorter time span than I did it since I was doing about a years worth of non beneficial things. But it'll still take time nonetheless. Keep doing your thing man. I can tell you know that the journey is a long grind but I promise you the end goal is worth it.
