Time flies so very fast indeed. I still can't almost believe that it has been 5 years since Jan 8th 2019 when I said "I Do" to my prayers. Like any other marriage, ours was also full of highs and lows. Actually, it's mostly highs; God loves us very much!!! I will have another video looking back at the past five years as a wife of an American and a Filipina living in America so I can share with all of you some significant highlights of my journey so far here in the Land of the Free.
In the meantime, I hope you like this video where I share my 5 realizations after being married for 5 years. For those that don't know yet, I met my husband online on March 8, 2018 in a dating website. I arrived here in the US on Dec 18th on a K1 visa and we got married on Jan 8, 2019. 5 years later we are now a family of 4 and a husky.

Happy Wedding Anniversary to you and your hubby Ars! Yes, marriage is a blessing and life is different when you have the right partner to share everything with! But I also would want to reach out to your single subscribers that marriage is not the only thing that will give you fulfillment in life. Being single does not make you less of a person. In fact, Scripture (1 Cor. 7:7-9) says that being single is a gift and is better than getting married provided it is used to serve God. To all the single people out there, do not be discouraged. There is a right time for everything. As what Arlene said, do not rush. God has a bigger plan for you!

Very good topic sis! Before I got married to my husband, I did set a very clear expectation to him that divorce/annulment will never be an option for me, so it’s better not to marry me if we have opposing opinion about it, and I’m just so grateful that we both have the same point of view when it comes to this kind of conversation

Nice sharing sis...so true pag gising sa umaga mas okay na ang pakiramdam and mas maiintindihan na ang problema. Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other........Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Hey Arlene, it’s Mike again. After 11 years married to my Filipina, My biggest realization is about communication. And it took me over 2 years to realize that Filipino English and American English are not the same, also I learned to be more patient with how fast I was talking because she did not always understand me.

😊 CAN'T AGREE MORE ABOUT MARRIAGE AND VOWS!! 😊❤ BE HONEST AND TRUTHFUL. NO LIES, NO MANIPULATING. 😊 It's usually one's childhood past that is the root of divorce...😢 NOT the spouse, not the marriage. 😢

Good general marriage advice. Regarding divorce, sometimes it’s out of our hands. I’m excited for the future and know I need to teach many things. Fortunately she’s excited to learn. Drivers manual first!😂

That’s so sweet, she’s willing to learn, congratulations! On divorce, if you have done everything you could to save the marriage and she doesn’t want to work with you, then she’s the one at fault in the eyes of God. And whoever marries her is an adulterous man.

Try and look up K3 visa. This is free of charge if you have a pending CR1. You would just need to fill-out and submit I-129F. If she enters the US via K1, you would need to apply for AOS. But she will be processed like a K1. :) This might something you might be interested especially if the waiting time for your CR1 is more than 6 mos.

Number 1 thing I learned is, NEVER NEVER let your Filipina wife cook dried fish in the house, especially with ac or furnace on, OMG it took 2 weeks before I could enter without wanting to to gag 😂😂😂. Buy her a single burner so she can cook it outside and let the neighbors suffer too.

LOL 😂 I remember when we used to live in an apt complex, tried to convince my husband to allow me to cook it in the porch and he profusely declined telling me that it’s unfair to the people in the complex 😆. I was heartbroken but did not insist bec I do understand it’s rancid to non-Filipinos. 🤣

@ LOL, she misses it a lot, PanAsia does have milk fish tho, so she will make it once it warms up and can do it outside. She gets to eat a lot of what she is used to, pan Asia has Filipino brands stuff too. She grows lemon grass in the back yard too.

What State are you guys living in? I tried growing some lemon grass and it did not survive the 2023 winter. I took them in and put them on the window sill but still died. :(

@ MO, she just grew it all summer then saved what she could, going to get a vacuum sealer so she can freeze it for winter. I bought the lemon grass off Amazon and put in a flower pot, they got huge like 3 ft tall. Doubt they would grow inside in winter without a lot of light

Yep! Sunlight is a huge challenge here in WA esp during winter. Good thing Seafood City sells lemon grass relatively cheaper than Safeway/QFC. I usually buy them in bulk and just freeze them in a ziplock back.
