I'm definitely doing a low spend for the next 6 months as well. I'm trying to have my EF at $5000 by the end of the year. If I can put more in there, that's great. I've been overspending in my misc category and that has to stop.

I didn’t even consider doing a low spend for the rest of the year until you posted that you were thinking about doing it. I’ve been working on tweaking our household budget and if I keep with it we can make great progress towards paying off the last of my student loans and save a good chunk for exterior home repairs

I’m going to do a no spend. I started a new job after finishing grad school so my income has tripled. During school I was living off student loans & a part time job so this will be a huge income change. I was very frugral out of necessity and I already made a large fun purchase (iPad for $400) so I’m set. I will allow myself to buy 2 pairs of slacks and a 1-2 blazers whenever we’re back in the office again but other than that no new clothes, cosmetics. I think I might give myself $30/ month for new books but that’s it for personal spending. By the end of December I should be able to fund a 6k emergency fund, max out my Roth. I’ll need a car in October so 3 months to save for that, I’m looking at the Corolla hybrid right now

Your goals for the rest of the year sound great. How good would it be if you manage to pay off more than 10,000 of your student loans? I'm aiming to save 500 sinking funds and 1000 emergency fund.

Because they're at 0% interest through September! I'm just gaining a bit of interest in the meantime by saving and then I'll make a lump sum payment in September!
