its through Airbnb and its in Copacabana near the beach thats why, if you sign up for a long term contract through a local estate agency it would be around $200-$300 cheaper

for a u.s citizen you are only allowed 1 month. how do you stay longer?

I'm from the UK so I'm allowed 90 days without a visa and I'm sure people from the US are also allowed to stay up to 90 days. If you are a digital nomad and earn at least $1500 per month through your online work then you can apply for a digital nomad visa and stay in Brazil for up to 12 months.

Too high of a price for a tiny studio. For $650, you should have gotten at least a 1 bedroom unit. Brazilian renters won't have mercy on you when you are bringing US or EU currency. Negotiate, negotiate and negotiate.

this is off airbnb with a one month rolling contract thats why, if i was staying there for a year or so I could have gotten a 1 year contract through a local estate agency for a lot cheaper, at least half price

I've dated girls in Argentina and Brazil, Argentinian girls are very very unique because they're very independent and they don't latch onto you because you're a foreigner or because they're trying to get something from you. There were many times where they insisted on paying the bill at a restaurant, I didn't need to get ubers for them or anything. Rio was a very different story, most of the attractive girls that could speak english were escorts and sugar babies trying to get with westerners for what they can get from them.

So not a good experience in Brazil.Funny people overate Brazil on KZbin. I find the ones who speak English compared to portguese had a different vibe. Like the way they interact with you on the phone was less versus a woman who spoke portguese I found the ones who spoke English were not that interested, similar entitled attuide you get from UK or USA or yes where prostitutes.

No this one didn't have any. If you leave the window open in the evenings or at night you'll get mosquitos flying in so I just kept it closed and used the aircon. But it is common in hot climate countries around South America and Southeast Asia to have bugs like roaches etc and house lizards so you just have to make sure you don't keep any food out and keep everything clean.
