Excellent video and super informative. I have long wanted to travel to that area, but as a solo traveler I’ve worried about the safety of the areas. Out of all the areas you mentioned the one most appealing to me is Leblon, shopping restaurants and improves security all sounds good to me. Ipanema sounds good too, sounds beautiful and a little more laid back which I like. I really have to take my time and make my way through more of your videos because I truly want to get into real estate and learn about passive income.

Hey there fellow ENTP, I think you nailed the benefits of living in Barra. The rental cost tend to be much lower than in Leblon and Ipanema and sometimes even in Copa. If you take into consideration security then barra is maybe the best place in RJ to live. The problem I see living here is the cost of living having risen a lot bc of all the new rich people that moved here. I think overall Barra has the best cost-benefit of Rio, especially in the Jardim Oceânico and ABM regions (you could take into consideration the houses regions in barra, but I think they only apply to those who are thinking on staying long term). Nice video btw. Hope to see more videos from BRASIL in your channel!

@@Karl__Pierre Here is how I see the question about Violence here. Rio de Janeiro is the most famous city of Brazil, but if you dig deeper, you are going to discover that there are cities much more dangerous, in relative terms, than Rio. But a mix of bad politicians and comercial interest of newspapers makes Rio looks far more dangerous. As your friend from São Paulo told you, caution is something that you must use. People of Brazil are really welcoming and are going to tell you "be carefull with that, don't go to that place". I have seem that kind of places everywhere in the world: Miami, NY, Italy, London. The diference between those places and Rio is that our people have been neglected by goverment for much time, and being poor and not seeing this around the world, made us believe that we are the only ones suffering that problem. In my opinion that is the feeling that compel us to tell the world we are experiencing this problem. Well, this comment is getting big enough. Summing up, I feel safe enough in the neighboorhods you described in your video, as I mentioned before, I have lived in NY and London. The violence is present in Rio? I can't deny that, but being careful you are not getting in trouble. I was owner of a Hostel here and never had problems with violence with any of my guests. Great video production quality. You could mention that those "low" prices are for long-term rentals excluding utilities (difficult to attain for foreigners) in zona sul. AirBNB monthly prices for more accurate costs which are inclusive. $400+ Copacabana, $700+ Ipanema, $1,000+ Leblon USD

Good tips. Why is it difficult to attain for foreigners. Can you explain?
@misterabroad1233 жыл бұрын
@@Karl__Pierre Sure. I've lived in Brazil for over a year. 1) You need Portuguese or hire a translator to not be price gouged. 2) Most foreigners will want to rent a furnished, month-to-month because of the tourist visa. 3) You need a CPF, a local bank account and time to get utilities + internet setup thus a longer rental agreement will be necessary.

Good video, I have been to Rio and like your picks, someone’s choices depends on what style of life they want. If you want more action and choices, definitely Copa and Barra. Sao Conrado seems to be the quietest neighborhood, but it has amenities like a mall and it’s beachfront. Ipanema and especially Leblon are more upscale than Copa and Leme, you chose the neighborhood with the highest real estate prices in South America.

I much prefer Barra da Tijuica- it's my favourite neighbourhood in Rio. It's like Miami in the 60s before it got spoiled . Great bike lanes, uncrowded beaches . It's a high security area - lots of Rio militia people live there and there's only a couple of ways in and out ... Got bored with Copacabana/Ipanema 20 years ago . Condos In Barra have balconies , amenities etc . Lot of people I know moved to Barra and now they rent out their old Copacabana places on airbnb . I base myself in Barra for the week , biking etc , cheap flights to Europe etc but I like to go Sao Paulo for the nightlife at the weekend ( night life in Rio is ok ,nightlife in Sao Paulo is the best in the world )when the business people are out of town . Learning Portuguese is everything obviously .....Uber is dirt cheap , all the convenience of a private driver for less than a bus journey in a major European city .

To add to what you have said: If you choose to live in Barra, you will need a car, whereas in Leblon, Ipanema, Gavea, Copacabana, you can walk everywhere (supermarkets, drugstores, etc.) Barra also only has subway to its beginning. It is a very "extended" neighborhood. I am carioca and I live in Rio. The best places to live here are Leblon and Ipanema, but both are very expensive. If you ask me, the cost of living in Rio is not worth it. We paid way too much and get much less in return.
@Karl__Pierre4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Yes in Barra you need a car. That's why Leblon is my first choice. As an American I think Rio is inexpensive. Comparing to Miami/Fort Lauderdale where I am, the cost for a home is about 65 cheaper and than cost of living....much much cheaper. But for a Brazilian earning typical salaries it's expensive. Where would you live instead?

@@Karl__Pierre If I am not mistaken, Leblon is the most expensive neighborhood in South America. If not the most, then definitely top 3. You should visit Florianopolis next if you have never been. I wouldn't mind living there if I could find a job there. Sao Paulo is also better than Rio because you have more options. A carioca who lives in Leblon, Ipanema, Gavea, Lagoa, does not want to move to other neighborhoods like Tijuca, or any other "cheaper" neighborhoods. A "paulista" (ppl born in Sao Paulo) probably wouldn't mind as much if they had to move to a cheaper neighborhood. In Rio these neighborhoods are a world appart (in terms of organization, structure, cleanliness, etc). In Sao Paulo no. You have really nice, friendly, clean, organized, affordable neighborhoods.

Hahahahaha yup. On my way to RIO, a private pilot calculating the approach, look out the window see sail boats and think damn I should rent one for a day ...but wait I'm not certified...yeah I need to finish that so I can buy a boat, lease it on airbnb, and eventually sail solo around the world hahah. @@Karl__Pierre hahahah, that's great! Consider starting your trip around the world by sailing to Croatia first! :) Enjoy!

I like your thought process of "let me go, check out properties globally and live international lifestyle" than several other KZbin anchors who talk about "bug-out-of-here-to- retire-elsewhere." In today's world it's so difficult to predict even 5 years from now let alone retirement age"

Of course it is... RJ is the name of the state and principal city...to say Barra isn't Rio is like saying Queens Isn't New York....doesn't make sense

Copacabana, used to be trendy back in the 50s, 60s, nowadays, is dirty, and not so safe, instead of Copacabana, i rather choose, Botafogo, Urca, jardim botânico, Lagoa, laranjeiras, and Cosme Velho.

🍞Daily Bread. The Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, good morning blessed, reflect. 'I proceed to the target, for the prize of the sovereign vocation of God in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 3:14 Many times we let the enemy distract us from our target, which is Christ, so we must not let ourselves be carried away by the daily tribulations. Let's live always taking care of what is ours but always looking to Jesus who should be our biggest focus. PRAYER: Father I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank You for the sovereign vocation of being able to follow Jesus Christ without looking back, because he has already paid for our sins with the Holy Blood, that nothing and no one distract us from this focus and may our hope of salvation increase more each day. Amen! 🙏🏼...

That's correct. Not advised to stroll through as a gringo tourist with a camera filming. But it's obvious the views are amazing just look at the mountains the community is built on

Beautiful city great place to visit always wanted to go to carnival there. But as far as living there it’s a No 4 me. Crime is bad and the people who you would turn to help you (the police) are corrupt. And I’m not a scary person or a person that generally worries about crime because of how I grew up. I keep my head on a swivel anyway. But as you get older there is just some things you just don’t want to worry about. Also like the other person commented Brazil is racist as hell, I’ve watched several documentaries about there racism problems. But then again it’s not like America isn’t 🤣

I get the danger part but south America has so many different cultures and skin tones I think that's a bit of an over exaggeration. Every where is racist if you want it to be. Or if that's what your focused on you'll find it.
