What is your favorite Fuji recipe you are currently using?
@Narsuitus4 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your recipes with us. My shooting style is very similar to yours. I prefer to shoot jpeg and do not care for a lot of post processing. Of my seven custom recipes, two are black & white. One of the two B&W is infrared. I will study your two B&W recipes to see what I can use.

I shoot jpeg plus RAW and only need 1 favorite recipe in my camera. I have programmed other recipes in X RAW Studio and can select whatever I like for a particular scene and export to jpeg.

I shoot with the X100T....one hell of a camera !!!! just amazing !!! It doesn't have many of the color simulations that yours has (X100V?)...anyway, I really like Classic Chrome for street and Astia for people...also like the others.....what I love about this little gem, is not only the color simulations but.......the built in flash......I don't know if you have noticed that this little camera's built in flash, always...and I mean always....delivers just the right amount of light (fill flash)....I have tried this with my DSLR's and after a few tweaks I can get the same results (fill flash wise) but, many times, while shooting out there, you have no time for adjustments...it's all shoot and go for me. Thanks for the video, found it very useful !!!! (Subscribed).

Thanks for the sub! Honestly I don't use the flash enough. The main issue is that I have a lens hood screwed on the front that obstructs the flash and I rarely take the thing off. I need to remove it and try some more flash photos with it cause I LOVE a good on camera harsh flash look

Love this shit. But on my X-T1 I simply shoot straight Monochrome with highlights and shadows both pushed all the way up. That’s what I consider perfect Black & White.

Just got the X100VI. At first I was disappointed. I typically shoot Sony and the Fuju was just not as responsive, fast or precise. But the more I explore these recipes I have a whole new approach and appreciation of Fuji. I set up the X100VI with a few of your recommended recipes and am excited to explore them. Sub.

The fuji's are a different breed of camera. You're not getting the latest and greatest that Canon or Sony are going to give you but making a photo with a fuji feels more organic to me.

Ricoh custom settings can be named and since they're "custom defaults" instead of simulations, they can come with their own min/max ISO settings. Finding a Ricoh simulation community has been great fun

Pretty much live on Reggie’s Portra and Tri-X 400 (but I don’t use Clarity since it slows down the camera)
@ColinHarris Жыл бұрын
Oh interesting! I don't think I've ever noticed that clarity slows down the cam, but typically I only ever shoot a burst of 3 or 4 images at a time
@venom2k2 Жыл бұрын
@@ColinHarrisclarity gets deactivated if you shoot in burst. If you take a single Image it takes about a second to process so the camera having to process like five Images with clarity wouldnt work.
@2ndfretage2 ай бұрын
@@venom2k2if the recipe calls for knocking down the clarity, you can try to use a diffusion filter (like a cinebloom etc) to handle it for you without needing to slow the camera down.

A question about the stated ISO for each filter. Is this a target ISO that I should not change or it is just the baseline that I should not go lower?
@ColinHarris11 ай бұрын
I never drop below that ISO but you can always go above. Play around with each one and see what works best for the way you photograph!
@mrgorefest201010 ай бұрын
Hey Colin! Love the video. Just curious to ask, when you say ISO, is that the ISO you are ALWAYS shooting at for each film recipe?
@ColinHarris10 ай бұрын
I never go below it when shooting but I will go above it. The "base ISO" is more for getting the best dynamic range out of each simulation.

@colin! Quick question: What are the film sims that you used on the first 4 photos in the recap part? (esp the 2 after 3:50).... BEAUTIFUL colours on them ....THANKS a ton in advance! Also, as for me - Kodachrome 64 sims from Ritchie are a godsend .... also, Pro Neg Std is SUCH an underrated simulation.

Which version of the Leica Monochrome do you prefer? V1 or V2. The site for those recipes says the V2 is better for people in the photos. I only have 7 slots available for these simulations. I sure wish Fuji would have included more space. I can’t decide on which ones to load. Lol
@ColinHarris Жыл бұрын
Yep I'm constantly cycling through different simulations too haha. I use the V2 of the Leica Monochrome, but to be fair I haven't tried V1. I'd give both a try and see which one you like best for how you shoot!
@petemcknight803 Жыл бұрын
@@ColinHarris I’m using V1 currently and so much I really like it. Big complaint is my Fuji app to transfer from X-E3 to IPad worked initially but now crashes every time. I’ll try to reinstall it but it’s not warming my grinch heart right now. Love the whole Fuji setup though. Coming from Sony and Leica. I do love the small travel size. I may just end up doing what I’ve always done and export the RAW files into Lightroom and have my fun. Much more latitude that way. But JPEGs straight out of camera have a certain appeal.
