#DIY #MYOG #alcoholstove After many years of trial and tribulation, this how I make my favorite alcohol Stove. Coming in at 5 grams, it’s one of the most efficient stoves I’ve made... here’s how to make your own. Enjoy

This stove has done very well for me, glad to come across this video again. I have paired this up with the Ball Alumnum Can as a cook kit.

This is a great stove. I'll try to make one out of a regular can, since my stove is a bit wider, to get more stability. I think I'll also try to make a little top to snuff out the fire and reclaim the fuel. Have you thought about making your titanium windshield tighter around the pot? Others have reported much faster boil times then.

I just made this stove from a small V8 can, it works great! Solves my problem for a narrow pot burner. Thanks for the awesome videos, subscribed!

It’s an easy one to make and I found it the fastest on the boil with a bit of tweaking of the height of inner liner , but I had one warp it got so hot the supper cat isn’t as fast but more stable

@@ViscousLandan Where do you get those carbon fiber lids at? Thanks for the video, I like the simple design of this stove, but at 12 grams, my modified fancy feast boils 2 cups of 60* water in 4 mins 40 secs with only 22 mL of heet (just a hair over 3/4oz). It's a reduced height design as well where I have the fancy feast can inside itself to create a more stable base. But everyone has their own journey, their own requirements, etc. So not trying to change your opinion, just telling you mine :-) Have a great day

@@Hangs4Fun The only CF lids I know of were made by Ruta Locura, but they aren't on their website now. I have emailed them inquiring whether they stopped entirely or what...

Awesome design man! I like how simple it is. It looks like this was done a while ago, any updates?

If, like me, you can't stand Red Bull, you can, if careful, use a 5.5 oz tomato juice (or V-8) can. It's only 3-1/2 inches tall, so you don't have a lot of room to make the stove with one can, but it's doable. Or, use two juice cans.

I know what you mean with the statement of years of trials and tribulations. It seams the simple ones are the best ones. I started with the pop can ones back in the dark ages and graduated to Brass , then Stainless Steel and finally Titanium ones of all makes and models. You name it and I probably have it after a lot of years of collecting/trying the different stoves. Now I'm back to the Vienna can with a Tomato Paste can and some Carbon fiber felt in between the two of them. Nice video on the stove , your narrative is pleasant in voice and volume but the music is a ear ringer.

What length did you cut your windscreen to? I have the same one with the toaks 650 (same pot diameter) and I'm looking to cut mine down as well. My height on my screen will be different because of a different stove setup but the length on yours looks like it gives you good clearance around your pot.

Very nice build and video, thanks for sharing. I know it was 12 oz. of water. Last I saw on the clock was 8 minuets plus, what was final boil time. Additionally, a whole 30 millimeters of alcohol (1.1 oz)?
@ViscousLandan5 жыл бұрын
Mark Cummings Mark Cummings Thanks, I’m not a real big timer for boiling water kind of guy normally. I wanna say this setup generally takes around 7-8 or so mins to boil 12oz on a little more than a half oz. This was certainly not a normal day the temp was well below freezing and wind was 10-15mph with gusts in the 20mph range with 80-90% humidity and freezing rain lol. If I remember right I was just trying to make sure I got enough burn time with the weather conditions as I look back on it now I probably should have just waited to finish this video when the weather wasn’t as extreme. I’ll do a follow up video soon to clear up any unanswered questions.

Could making the difference between inside and outside piece around 1 inch make it more efficient? Would this work? I keep reading that with many alcohol stoves 1 1/8 inch is the sweet spot distance between flames and pot for efficiency. Like the design. Tnx

@ViscousLandan5 жыл бұрын
Ryen Cosgro I am pretty sure I got the windscreen from Toaks. I did cut it down so it would fit inside the pot, if I remember right it was almost twice as tall originally.

so only make a total of two holes on the inner one ? would it help any if made four ?
@Sokol102 жыл бұрын
The holes is for equalize the internal and external pressure, you can make more, eg. one for each crease, but this will don't make practical difference in stove performance.
@nowonmetube Жыл бұрын
6:40 the vent holes are important! Don't skip this! They prevent alcohol overflowing, especially preventing it from spilling everywhere while it burns. So be careful and do it for safety!

What was the record again? 30ml boils 12oz how many minutes?
@rc5567 Жыл бұрын
Would you suggest doing this with a wider can? A normal pop can or an Arizona tea can? Would there be any drawbacks besides increased fuel consumption?
@huntercook660511 ай бұрын
Depends on your pot. For the 95mm TOAKS mugs (e.g. 550ml) and similar a regular can will push the flames up over the sides, increasing both boil times and fuel requirements substantially. If you use something more like a 115mm TOAKS (e.g. the wider of the two 750ml) or larger a regular can would probably work fine.

😀I just discovered your channel and you do a very nice job explaining what you are doing on screen. And your thoughts are presented in an easy to follow manner. 😀 I am also evolving with my cook kit but only have a fraction of the experience with stoves that you possess. So I was wondering if you could make this stove from a say a 12 oz soda can or would the height of the cut lines be different due to the 12 oz can having a larger diameter than the smaller red bull can? 💡 And if it's different, would you have any suggestions on where to go to find the details on cutting on the 12 oz can? 🤔 Thank you! 😎
@xenaguy014 жыл бұрын
You can make this stove from any single (or two alike) can(s). Depending on the bottom configuration, you may have to make the inner wall 1/4 inch taller than the bottom.

@@BingWatcher You're welcome. I've made these capillary stoves from beer cans, soda cans, 5.5 oz V-8 cans, 8.5 oz coke/pepsi cans, and red bull cans. I like the smaller ones. You can't put as much alcohol in them, but they're small and cute. And cool! (They boil faster with higher capillary core, but use more fuel)
@GibsonTM5 жыл бұрын
When you use the stove, do you experience having the part where your pot sits on melt or become significantly weaker at all?
@xenaguy014 жыл бұрын
The pot acts as a heat sink. If you remove the pot, snuff the flame with a rag or cup to keep from melting the top edge.

Chris Brown I’m pretty sure the first time I saw this stove design was actually on a channel called tetkoba’s alcohol stove about 6 years ago it was called super rapid side burner. Then about 3 years ago Wayne Earls made almost the exact same stove. Spiguyver made a video about a stove very similar to these about a year after that. Nice memory! You took me back a bit there I will have to go back and some of those tetkboa vids man I haven’t watched those in years! He really is an artist, Thanks!

Chris Brown I cant believe it I am so sorry I I forgot Zellph he is who kinda started the whole integrated pot stand alcohol stove idea about 10 years ago, incredible! AZBill3433, Trail Hound and I used to bounce alcohol stove ideas off each other 5-6 years ago too. Man, all great guys! I’m pretty sure I’ve met your buddy Spiguyver before too maybe at a Texas HF hang a while back. I dunno, Thanks again!

Actually, the idea was first published by a guy named _"fuzzy1"_ back in about 2000. web.archive.org/web/20050204112417/wings.interfree.it/html/fuzzy.html This one uses the same idea, but with a different size can.
