Good to see someone presenting an alternative to the many other alternatives usually presented. If I should leave the US I don't want to go somewhere else and replicate the life I already live in the US. I'd actually want to change (reduce) my standard of living to something more manageable, and in every respect, not just financially. I think you have the opportunity to really capture the interests of a niche market of potential expats coming from the west. Not everybody has the interest/ability to go overseas and build half-million dollar homes, and some people simply don't want to. Some are truly chasing the simpler life. Good luck to your channel and I will definitely be following.

My modern one bedroom townhome apartment south of Manila is $70 USD per month. I’ve lived here for six years in 4 different places and have never paid over $100 a month rent. At one place, I only paid $40 a month including utilities. As a single guy, my cost of living averages around $250 a month. And that is a comfortable lifestyle, not luxurious, which is not my cup of tea, but I enjoy everything my heart desires. It’s great you made this video because I see some really stupid ones out there claiming that the cost of living here is a lot higher than it actually is. Without coming here and experiencing this first hand, I would have never known things were so affordable, because of all of the misinformation online.

Is it safe to keep a scooter outside and what will it cost you to ride around town and play 18 holes at the nearest course?
@SouthPaths9 ай бұрын
Scooters are safer here overnight than in Canada. As for greenness, from 1500 to 5000 php depending on what course you want. There is no course close to us at this time.

The last time I paid that amount of rent was splitting a three bedroom apartment going to Seneca College in 1973.

It comes with a price however. You need to be willing to start your life over. New friends, new culture, new everything. It is an adjustment, but it's working for us.

@@SouthPaths I recently learned that an old friend of mine moved there some time back. Tried to make contact but apparently he had a stroke. I'm in the philippines now, always had an idea in the back of my mind to rent something very cheap like this. But how possible is it to set up things like internet? Or is that not possible in certain places?
@SouthPaths10 ай бұрын
Search for San Pablo Laguna rentals in Facebook market place. Lots of options there, but you will most likely have to do the actual lease in person here. But most posters know English very well and are happy to answer questions about a given rental.

@@SouthPaths I'm looking for just 1 month to at longest 2 month rental under $250 a month. But at least 50 square meters. Any idea?
@SouthPaths10 ай бұрын
@@Willtravelz that's gonna be tough. Mine is like 22. For 50 your looking at a house. Most people want at least 3 months for an elevated rate. A clean house in a decent part of town would be about $20,000 php.
@SouthPaths10 ай бұрын
Do a search in market place for the areas you want to look at and put up an advertisement too. Lots of possibilities, you could get a good deal. Trying don't hurt, put up a want ad.
