That is called ice-cream bread. You are supposed to eat it with local ice-cream flavors which are cut in a thick slab and placed in the bread like how you make a sandwich. Half the slice holds the ice-cream and the other half is folded over it. Try it. It is really delicious!

I teared from Jimmy's sweet interaction with grandpa, and how he keeps telling Jimmy not to worry about him. Brings me back to when my dad passed away from critical illness almost 2 years. Although he wasn't conscious when we arrived after emergency calls from the hospital, I told him that we would be alright and all is forgiven so that he can move on. And grandma is utterly adorable and willing to try new things 🥰

This was one of the most entertaining thing i’ve saw in a while! as a japanese person who lives outside japan, some of the things shown in this video (like stuffs in the house) got me really nostalgic because i haven’t visited japan in a while and haven’t seen my family in a really long time. I’m scared that my grandparents might pass away before i can meet them one more time. Learning that your grandfather made me really sad because of that. This video was amazing! But honestly, I can’t help but give a few facts about each snack in this video as a local Malaysian. It’s to make sure people can know more about our country while knowing how or where to find those snacks to enjoy! 1) Rainbow Bread Honestly, it’s not common to find such bread locally 😂 Although, it might be in some states or local convenient stores. Usually, people with younger children would buy such bread as children like the vibrant colours of it. Although, the bread is just normal bread dyed in artificial colouring (or it can be dyed in colours from a fruit. Although, it’s quite rare for somebody to put that much hard-work here in Malaysia lolol). 2) Kaya Not much to say about this one. But I grew up eating Kaya jam with bread in mamak stores as a kid. I suggest eating kaya jam with toast and butter to top it off, and a nice cup of milo or teh tarik to go with it lolol. If you want to buy kaya from a certain brand, I suggest buying the Gardenia version of the jam. I’m not sure about other brands, but that was what I ate growing up. 3) Shrimp snacks These things are delicious. I recommend buying these shrimp snacks from the brand: Double Decker. Their shrimp snacks are a lot bigger and flavourful at the same time. You can commonly find this brand at 7 Eleven or 99 supermarket. But I think they also sell it in shopping malls with big or small packages too. 4) Layered Cake (Kek Lapis) In Malay, it is called Kek Lapis. Kek Lapis is very known and famous in the state Sarawak. It’s a specialised treat there. But other than Sarawak, I believe store bought kek lapis is also as delicious in other states 😋 5) Ikan Bilis Bun This is a really common pastry that you can find easily in convenience stores. I recommend the brand Mighty White (the brand showed in the video) or Gardenia. (Not much to say abt it actually lolol) 6) Pisang Goreng Chips I’ve actually tried this only once- It’s crispy and delicious. I don’t think you can find this normally at a convenience store here in my area. This is more of a fun fact on bananas and the treats here, but grilled bananas can normally be found either in a pasar (a place where there is a whole road of different stalls) or in a random stall near the streets in Malaysia. It’s also quite easy to make pisang goreng too. I’m locally Chinese, and my grandmother makes pisang goreng with nian gao (chinese sticky cakes). Not only is it sweet, it’s also chewy and crispy. 7) Teh Tarik (Coffee) Teh meaning tea and tarik meaning pull. So, I guess you can see why they name it teh tarik now lol. Here in the state I live in, they rarely ‘pull’ the coffee anymore in mamak stalls. They usually just put some instant teh tarik powder, mix it up with some hot water, and some foam will start to form. Some add sugar, some make their own teh tarik in a machine for convenience, but yep. This is what I know anyways. I hope that is enough information to learn from! If other local Malaysians see this and think I’m missing out on some information, please do tell! I’m still lacking a bit but this is the knowledge of a Malaysian and not the wikipedia page anyways.

I know I'm two weeks off but this just popped up and i though it was a wholesome video talking about our unique food and snacks (and yes I am a Malaysian, Chinese Malaysian) but i didn't know your grandpa was in critical condition i just wanna say may your grandpa bless with eternal good health, but if I'm too late and your grandpa has sadly passed away then just know that now it's in a better place looking over his family
