Just a disclaimer to those considering that only once you have signed off 14 to 36 month experience in a finance environment are eligible to become a member. Ideally you want your supervisor to be a qualified accountant. You get to decide on as many supervisors you want. It’s called PER. You need to get signed off on 9 objectives. 5 are essential and 4 are technical electives objectives. (Similar to SAICA trainee programme) However the purpose of the PER programme are key I think because they teach you certain professional skills. Which I think sets you a part as world class professional. Great video and all of the best 👍🏻
@afrogirldiaries4 жыл бұрын
Hi Abigail, thank you. You are right, one needs 36 months experience with demonstration of 9 PER as you've explained. If you work for an approved employer you can get exemption but they would still need to sign off that you have experience. I'm in the second category, hoping to become fully qualified next year 😊

Hi I found it interesting that you prefer Kaplan over BPP. Nothing wrong there, just l find Kaplan gives a barebones on whatever you covering and l hated the fact that if you do the questions you have to go online to see the solutions. l do appreciate the large print however, l always feel as if it is shortchanging me. On the other hand l love BPP, it saw me through my studies, l love the detail, the layout and l think till recently the fact that all the material was there in the book no need to go the extra mile to seek it out so for me it really made sense. Furthermore l think it was so comprehensive that it gave me confidence unlike the other entity. At the same time the question bank really did it for me you come away thinking, there can be no surprises, if you do most of the questions you will be thoroughly prepared. l have never used the lectures, flashcards etc so l cannot comment. For me due to a number of issues, foreign place, language issues, money, distance and time(weekend/evening) l really had no choice but to go it alone. So l had to do is 10 or so of them as l was exempted from some of them, To top it off virtually at the time l started doing it almost everyone l spoke to said mission impossible but by God's grace it was done. l still do not know how l passed some of them, so l will say anything is possible if you focus. My technique was hammer it till it made sense, so l would spend all the time l had going over them and eventuatlly if you are obstinate enough things would start to make sense, at least in my experience. The only issue is people in my view, assuming fees are not an issue, give up too easily. It is a marathon and not a sprint. What worked for me was buying the books as quickly as l could and starting to go through them. Unfortunately l am a cover to cover type of person so that meant l had to start early to feel confident and thus prepared for the exam otherwise if l do not do that l have no faith in passing. Anyway of late l have been watching a lot of videos from these guys called SuperfastCPA who have a very interesting approach. Their philosophy is why waste time watching videos, listening to lecture notes etc. Simply start by doing the questions and learn from the answers, reverse engineering basically. It sounds crazy but it makes sense if you are time challenged. They also say at the end of the day, you are going to be asked the questions so better be familiar with the format etc, which l agree with no point spending a lot of time reading if you do not learn how to answer questions. At the same time they do advocate preparing your own notes and summaries, frequent revision and daily reading especially in the morning when one is fresh and one is not disturbed by the outside world. They try to say a little everyday goes a long way to making sure you pass and by doing so you can still work have fun with family and friends. Which l think is good. l have watched a lot if interviews with people who have used their techniques and assistance and if ever l get the opportunity to do something else, l will definitely try their methods. It is very efficient and effective in my view. Anyway thanks for sharing! Can l just say to an extent you had a cheat code, your mom is a lecturer in the field so that certainly helps seriously though you still had to put in the work so you did very well!!!
