I HAD THE SAME SKIN AS YOU!! For years I get insecure about it and tried literally everything. What has helped me clear my skin is stripping down my whole entire routine and *important* use products for sensitive skin! Acne-prone skin is sensitive skin, your moisturizer barrier is impaired which is why the skin texture can be dry and bumpy. I stopped using all actives and stopped washing my face in the morning. Your skin barrier can be over stripped when you wash it too often and use harsh products like the stridex. I love the brand avene! They have very few ingredients and it is perfect for sensitive skin. So first focus on hydrating and repairing your moisturizer barrier-no washing in the am and in the pm double cleanse w an oil(I use mct oil) and gentle cleanser(I use avene gentle cleanser) and then apply a rich moisturizer. Also I would suggest trying azelaic acid! It is very gentle and helps fade scars and helps with inflammation and it is a keratolytic which means that it helps the skin shed dead cells and helps prevent clogged pores. I use skinoren 20% but I hear the ordinary azelaic acid is great too and also curology! I tried curology in the past and it completely cleared my skin but I didn’t want to pay the monthly fee so I just found that azelaic acid on its own still did the job. Also make sure your applying spf! I use Elta md it is great for sensitive skin. I would have to say the biggest help for me tho is the sun! Getting real vitamin d and sweating out toxins outside is great for the skin(make sure ur reapplying spf). The outside humidity is great for the skin bc it adds moisture to skin that has a compromised skin barrier, if you live in a dry climate I would suggest getting a humidifier! Sorry this was long, but I struggled with acne for so long and if I knew that my skin was just dehydrated bc of all the over washing and harsh products I could have avoided so much money and anxiety over my skin! Hope this will help:)

1000000% agree! I literally had to strip down my WHOLE routine. Granted, I’m working with a dermatologist right now but the biggest change I noticed in my skin was when I switched to cetaphil plain cleanser and cream. It allowed my skin barrier to heal and I overall get less pimples now. I didn’t believe anyone when they said that before but my skin was always raw, itchy, irritated, burning, etc. a $10 face wash and cream changed my life. Now using Duac and starting Aczone, but I was literally going to go on accutane before all of this realization lol

I completely understand what your going through girl. I’ve struggled with acne since middle school and it really got bad in highschool specifically senior year , I’ve always been able to cover it for the most part but it bothered me so much that I couldn’t go out without makeup . I would hide out constantly when my skin would get super bad and i struggled with leaving my face alone I turned to picking and touching to the point of feeling extremely depressed. That’s when I turned to accutane. I’m on month two and let me say it’s helped me skin SO much already. It is a process though , the first month I struggled with severe back pain and headaches but that’s pretty much gone , I’m currently dealing with chapped /peeling lips 24/7 , dry nose and dry skin . Also I’ve noticed that my skin is very very sensitive . Try not to pop or touch any zit while on accutane because you scar easily . I learned the hard way :/ the first month I broke out pretty bad and touched my face quite a bit and now I have a lot more scars than before I started accutane . So just be conscious of what you put on your face and not touching/picking. The healing process is def much slower but worth it 💖💖 you just have to be patient :) much love and I wish you good luck I hope it goes well for you x

I’m on Acutane atm (3.5 months in) and it’s so nice not to have to wear makeup every single day to cover it up, my lips do get really dry so I use paw paw cream. It’s gotten rid of all the cystic acne but I still obviously get hormonal spots every month which I just put Mario badescu drying lotion on, which is literally a god send!! I’m so happy that u are genuinely showing ur skin because acne for me always drained my self confidence and never went anywhere without makeup. Another plus side to Acutane is that my hair doesn’t get as oily so I don’t have to wash it for 3 days (shower everyday still) but before that my hair would get really oily and I would have to wash it every day. Anyways love ya and we support u through this process. 💕 If u do go on Accutsbe just trust that it gets better I literally spent the whole first month crying because I thought it wasn't doing anything but as I look back at the pictures from before it's a big change.

When I had a lot of acne on my forehead I tried everything! Clean and Clear, Neutrogena, Olay, and other popular products. However, they were making me break out even more! So I decided to switch to products that were more natural, organic and sensitive for my skin. I recommend using products like Burts bees, Alba botanica, and Yes to Carrots. I like to use: - Yes to carrots daily moisturizing cleanser - Simple brand liquid eye makeup remover - Alba Botanica Hawaiian detox scrub - Burt's Bees intense hydration night cream Using these more natural brands has helped and I barely have a breakout. It is so important to wash your face and makeup off before bed every night. I hope that helps!

Hey Tessa. That´s so brave of you showing your skin like that. Just remember you are more than your skin :) I want to recommend you few simple tips that I'm sure will help you. Always when I do these I see a huge difference in my skin. 1.wash your hands when putting on cream and generally when washing your face. You might be washing your hands before you will put anything on, but then you´ll touch the package the cream was in, on you will smear dirt and bacteria on to your skin. You don't know who has touch that package before you nor where it has been. So make it a rule to ALWAYS have CLEAN hands when TOUCHING your skin. 2. Drink green tea 3. Cut down on dairy- you don't need all that cheese, only Mozzarella 4. waterwaterwater 5. Keep your products simple- Im always cleaning my face with Bioderma sensible H20 cleansing water which I highly recomend for you ! 6. Good luck

I went through two rounds of accutane. I highly recommend it because I had cystic acne and major pigmentation on my face. The only down side is the dry lips and the bone pain I got. But it gets better over time. Luckily I didn’t go through that faze where I broke out really badly. I highly recommend it. I just finished my second round and I have before and after pictures and it’s a CRAZY difference. Way better. You definitely should do it if you tried everything else like I did

Truly is miracle drug! An immediate difference for me and honestly made me feel so much more confident one it was gone. I had some nose bleeds due to how dry my nose got and how thin my blood was and the dry skin got kinda intense but as long as you moisturize your skin and protect it against the sun you’ll be fine. The key is to also use the least amount of products you can because the more you use, the more it takes off the natural layer on your skin and will have a negative effect.

Alexis Krasnov not really I didn’t have any problems with my hair like that. If you’re also taking birth control (because it’s common/recommended to use it with accutane). Many birth controls can cause hair falling out (thinning). Ask about it your dermatologist in your next sitting, she/he will be able to tell you more about the side affects and tell you how to eliminate them 🙂

My sister was on it for 6 months and since then her skin has been flawless, all you need to do after doing the pill it to really take care of your face only sticking to on product for certain things of the face. Tessa! I am so excited for this journey you will be taking with Accutane! I took Accutane about 2 years ago and the major things I dealt with were HORRIBLE dry lips and really sore joints :/ Like if I missed one day of putting chapstick on it was SO hard to come back to moisturized lips. I would recommend CeraVe Hydrating face wash- it is the more dark green bottle for dry skin and maybe a gel based oil-free moisturizer :) I have really sensitive skin as well along with cystic acne and I needed to do the combo of moisturizing face wash but oil-free moisturizer. Maybe that will work since you have sensitive skin as well! Plus SUNSCREEN AHHHH. My face would burn SO EASILY. The last thing from me is, the one thing that kind of made me sad was I started having acne again about 6 months ago... Not as bad as it was before but it definitely came back! I was under the impression that it would be fully gone since Accutane is so harsh.... I am thankful & grateful I did it though since it really helped with my acne! I love how you are so uplifting about being beautiful with and without makeup! That was a hard one for me because I would wear a lot as well, but on Accutane my face was so irritated that I just didn't care enough to sit and try to cover it all up haha. But in those months without TRYING so hard, it taught me to just be okay with how The Lord made me. Acne or not and makeup or not! I hope you will find some relief from this because I know it can be so tiring!

I've used accutane before and for me it was of a lot of help, i was super insecure about my acne and my scars and after 6 months of taking it my skin cleared out completely and people could tell how much better not only my face was but also my confidence (of course acne doesn't define you but it was definitely a big factor for my low confidence) ~The first month will feel like not much has change, just some crusty lips (side effect of the drug), but believe me it is when your body starts to adjust. ~After 3 months you will start noticing how your acne reduces and starts to heal while. ~And when you finish the treatment you will notice how your face is less oily and is cleared out.

Make sure to not change all products at once. Because of that you can't tell which one is not working for you. Also I'd recommend you to not use towel to dry your face it has lots of bacterias, use paper towels instead - i see so much different when I stopped using normal towel! I'm also thinking about Accutane because I'm struggling with acne for a few years now and whenever my dermatologist gives me new pills, they work only as long as I'm taking them... My skin has got much better when I started learning about ingredients in cosmetics, I know which ones should I avoid. Good luck Tessa! Hope you'll get rid of your acne 💕

Accutane is great! Im on it right now, and its life changing. I dont really have major side effects (dryness) because of these two things recommended to me from other youtube videos: 1- Lanolin nipple cream (So weird, but its for nursing moms and its like aquaphor but thicker and greatttt for dry lips Ill wake up in the morning with it still on and it prevents lips from cracking). 2- Rosehip seed oil- it makes sure your skin is not flaky and with a cerave moisturizer over it i havent really had any flaky skin and i have about 1 month left. Good luck!!

Girl I felt your struggle the only thing I can recommend to you is a Korean skin care. Korean skin care is really good honestly Ulta has a very wide range of koreanskin care and theyre really good about brightening and it’s really good for the acne scars and they have this took a small line called IDEWCARE at ulta. but they have a lot of like Korean skin care center around acne and all that stuff. I would honestly recommend that Mario Badescu has a lot of good products, they have a acne starter kit and that honestly when I first started to get into skin care and getting my acne controlled that’s whatI first used in that really helps with my acne. I am vegetarian but when I do eat dairy once in a while or when I do eat sugary things kind of a lot I tend to but that really kind of does affect my skin because I eat something like a cupcake, the next morning I have like three big pimples on my fourhead. I would just say yeah I don’t know how like how you eat so I can’t like you know.... some people actually do eat very healthy and still get acne but I know that sugary stuff does affect my skin. that’s really all the tips I can give you. I would try honestly Mario Badescu drying lotion because like overnight it will like reduce it really good or like pimple patches are really good for putting overnight but I hope your journey goes well much love🖤🖤

I had Whiteheads on my face so dermatologist suggested me to gave it a try but I told her that I was gonna think about it. I researched everything everywhere, reached out so many people who used it before and asked them about suggestions, what prosses was it and was it worth it or not. But I decided not to use it because it has not good effects on your body. Also I went to other dermatologist and she was so amazing. She cleaned my face entirely, she gave me some products which was made by her and worked so perfectly. My skin looks amazing after the treatment. Thanks God that I found this dermatologist. First one was not good. She wanted me so bad to started this accutane or whatever but I had a feeling that something wasn't right. But also I want to share my friend's experience too. She was on accutane. She decided it because literally nothing worked for her. I told her about my dermatologist but it didn't work for her and she decided to use accutane. At the beginning it was getting worse and worse but at the end it worked. I have never seen her skin that clean before. But it was so hard experience for her. 🆘🆘🆘 The most common side effects of Accutane are: dry skin, itching, rash, dry nose, nosebleeds, cracks in the corners of the mouth, dry mouth, dry lips, cracking or peeling skin, inflammation of the whites of the eyes, dry eyes, joint pain, back pain, dizziness, drowsiness, nervousness, or changes in your fingernails or toenails. Also it can cause depression. And you can't use it during pregnancies and make sure that you don't have kids 2 years after using accutane. For everyone who reading this: Please be safe and don't be stressed. Your face is beautiful and you can help it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ don't worry, stress won't help. If you would try what is right for your skin, you will be able to get through it. Love you and be positive.

I was on Accutane for 9 months and my skin started to clear about 6 months into it. My skin didn’t get worse til it got better I guess it just stayed the same and slowly started to improve .It’s been 3 years now and honestly going on Accutane was the best decision I’ve made! I do get a pimple here and there every few months. You just get really dry when your on the medication face, lips, scalp etc. You need the most moistening lip balm and a moisturiser for your face. I highly recommend Accutane for anyone with acne it’s a life saver! Sooner rather than later is best as the scars you get from acne is almost impossible to remove knowing from experience.

benzoyl peroxide 10% really worked for me when I started breaking out really bad, but also made my skin dry for the first week that I was using it. But the ponds moisturizer is literally the best thing ever!

My acne used to be really bad. However keeping a clean and simple routine it works wonders. One thing that you didn’t do and I recommend, I would try using a toner. Because when you wash off makeup there is still some stuck in your pores. So using a toner with a cotton pad after washing your face works wonders! I use the clean and clear lemon toner but also using something that is fragrance free would work best! Regardless you’re beautiful no matter what and it will get better! My friends who have been on accutane, their skin cleared up and you wouldn’t even be able to tell they had acne!❤️

hey tessa! so i’m currently on accutane right now and my journey was pretty smooth sailing. i’ve struggled with acne all my life, and i have even had back acne and chest acne. on accutane i did experience dry face and lips, but that was all! i’m currently on month 7 and i haven’t had any break outs! this is the best my skin has ever looked! i highly recommend, and remember to always wear sunscreen!

I know exactly what you're going through. I have spent so much money going on facials, chemical peels, etc. I finally started accutane last week, and so far my lips have been crazy dry and I've been experiencing a little joint pain when I'm working out. Hopefully I don't experience any other side effects than what I've been experiencing lately. Good luck on your journey!!!!

Girl I relate to you soooo much! That’s the worst feeling! I also went to a dermatologist and they told me about acutane but I didn’t wanted to use it bc to me it has more cons than pros, and I believe that acne is something natural so you should get rid of it in the most natural way. Things that worked for me were, the Balance pills by Alaninu! They are REALLY good, you can check their ig to see pictures! The Cerave cleanser and moisturizer are the BEST! Even if you have oily skin you should ALWAYS hydrate your skin. They keep that moisture that your face needs. I also cut ALL sugar of my diet which I think it made a big difference. Remember to always take off your makeup at night bc that can clog your pores, don’t wear a lot of makeup when you are working out, and change your pillow cover at least once a week!!!! Good luck with this journey and remember that everything happens for a reason!💗💗💗

While using accutane you should try using the Cleanance Hydra cream from Eau Thermale Avène, it's a French brand that uses thermal water and it honestly works wonders, it works on your acne while keeping your skin hydrated while the usual anti-acne creams are drying (because it is really dry on accutane). There is also a cleanser with the same name !

Just like you I suffered suuuper bad acne. Over the past 3 months I literally just simplified my routine to daily facewash and moisturizer, if I wear heavy makeup I use witch hazel toner and then 2 times a week I will use a scrub and mask. Recommend Indian Aztec clay mask!! Love you gorg xxxx

I was on accutane for like 10 months and mainly it just made my skin super super dry! My lips were sahara desert dry so definitely stock up on the vaseline for your lips. Getting the bloodwork every month and taking the online stuff for accutane was annoying but it did help my acne. It did help my skin and stop the acne but it also kinda damages your liver I believe so be careful with that. During accutane my dermatologist recommended the cerave facewash and lotions/sunscreens. They also recommended the bare minerals foundation but I ended up using Smashbox’s hydrating foundation anyways because the bare minerals one didn’t stay well. Hope it goes well for you because I’m def still insecure but it’s better!

I use only natural products for my skin care routine..i use raw honey and white sugar mixture to exfoliate and I also use the honey alone to wash my face. It works wonders. I use honey every single day for washing my face. I have combination skin and honey works so well. No harsh chemicals . use pure natural products for your skin.

hey girl- i had acne similar to yours like 3-4 years ago and the biggest thing that helped me was my makeup removal process + a simple skincare routine. i hope you see this and try some of these things: 1. garnier micellar water the pink one to be specific to take off my makeup until i dont see any more makeup on the cotton round 2. kiehl's calendula face wash ( when i first started using this facewash and my face was really bad i used the clarisonic brush but now that my face has improved i just use my hands) 3. murad rapid relief acne spot treatment 4. kiehl's avocado eye cream 4. kiehls ultra facial cream (this cream changed my life forever ive been using this for 3-4 years now) 5. spray mario badesco rose water spray 1-2 times a week i use these masks ritually 1. amazon healing clay mask mixed with apple cider vinegar 2. origins clear improvement charcoal mask. 3. the ordinary aha/bha peel mask (once or twice a month) i hope some of this could be of help for you!

Renée Rouleau skincare products are a gamechanger! Such effective products but it doesn’t dry or irritate your skin. She created 9 skin types instead of following the standard skin types (normal, oily, dry, combo) because everyone has different skin needs. I’m a Skin type 1 which is oily, clogged pores, and consistent breakouts (almost new blemishes a day). I have been using her products for about a month, and my skin has completely changed. I was about to go on Accutane, but then I stumbled across her products and I am forever grateful!

i’m on my 4th month of accutane, and it has all gone so so smoothly! i immediately saw results, in the first month i had a tiny bit of joint pain, but that’s pretty much it. the worst part is the dryness! (I recommend e-oil, add it to your moisturizer, and aquaphor is a must for lips!!) I’m in my fourth month, and my skin is completely clear!

Hey girl! I'm a new subscriber and I've related so much with you! I also had cystic acne and textured skin and I went through Accutane about 2 yrs ago, and it was hell but I would honestly do it again. I am so happy with my skin and I feel SO confident! Something I would recommend that my dermatologist recommended was to not use anything for acne or that contains Salicylic Acid since the pills are already so strong, it would just be more than your skin could take. If you do get something with that in it, then just make sure it's a small percentage. Also, the fewer products the better and get an Aquaphor lip balm jug for your side table and just lather your lips on it! It feels like heaven! Good luck! You're beautiful already, but I totally get how you feel. It gets better

i’m towards the end of my accutane process and it has worked so well!! it depends on how bad your acne is for how much time you will be on it but it’s wasn’t too much of a hassle for me!! 10 out of 10 recommend!! i do occasionally get back pain and my lips are super dry but those are really all the drastic side effects that i’ve had!! also, i feel insecure all the time abt my acne but you shouldn’t because you are so beautiful!! anyway, i hope this helps!!

I went on Accutane for about six months freshman year of high school (I'm a junior now) and it helped me so much! I actually never experienced purging when I started but maybe that was because my skin was already so bad. I had cysts all up my jaw to the point where it hurt to sleep at night and I had tiny bumps all over my cheeks. By the time I was done my skin was so beautiful and glowing it was amazing. However, after about six months after I had stopped by acne came back. It wasn't as bad as before but now I deal with stubborn closed comedones and scarring from the occasional pustule and cyst. I may go on it again but as of right now it's somewhat manageable. However, I would seriously suggest Accutane. The only side effect I had was that it made my lips really really chapped. And if you do have a relapse you can always go on it again! Many people do and I've heard that the second time around the side effects aren't as extreme as the first time. Best of luck girl! And honestly you're so pretty, your eyes and smile by far overshadow any small blemish that you may have! :)

I know lots of people that have used and loved accutane, I’m not one of them tho. I had pretty bad cystic acne myself on and off for years. I tried everything so I decided to go on accutane. At first it was great my sking cleared up immediately but it destroyed me. I didn’t have the energy to do anything, I was skipping classes for no reason, I wouldn’t go out, I was having panic attacks constantly and my anxiety was very intense. I decided to stop it and I started getting better. My skin started to go bad again for a bit but then it cleared up completely on its own(I was using some creams my dermatologist suggested) and now I haven’t had a pimple for 2 months!!😙✌🏻Make sure you are healthy and high on vitamin D before starting it.

I have been on accutane before. My skin was bad for a bit. Really moisturize your face and I recommend cetaphil. That was the only moisturizer that actually worked for me. It is also recommended by dermatologists as well. Mentally it can be exhausting but once it clears you up it gets better. It’s a rollercoaster but keep your head up!
