Hi Mandy! Thanks for sharing. I just wanted to say that the sensation on the side of your neck that you mentioned around 6 minutes into the video could have been your omohyoid muscle releasing. After the tongue tie was released, it probably allowed your larynx to rest a little lower, which in turn put less strain on your omohyoid. When the omohyoid is tense, it can cause all the muscles on the side of the neck to seize up and tense since it crosses them diagonally. The area you pointed to looks exactly like where the lower belly of the omohyoid crosses. I had this muscle released by an ART practitioner before, and I can tell you how much of a RELIEF it is to not feel that pressure across the side of your neck/upper shoulder area anymore!

I noticed when I raise my tongue to the roof of my mouth - I can see my right side of my neck / traps / shoulders pulling (I can see the strings of muscles fibres) if that’s what they are called (probably not) ha! Do you know if this could indicate I could benefit from a tongue release?

You know I just had my tounge-tie laser surgery today. Looking at your video it would be a dream come true if I could stick my tounge out like you did before you had yours removed!!! I didn’t think that was a tounge tie what you had. Anyway, I found your vid looking for exercises to do to maximize the result.

I just got both my lip and toungue released. It's like a severe cramp under my toungue when I'm not stretching it. So good for me I'm constantly doing my stretches to avoid that lol. My neck and jaw are so relaxed now though! Like i was driving home post op and i thought i was going to faint or something but it was just ive never felt relaxed in those muscles. The tension burst melted away. I am really nervous about the healing process though...

Omg the smell is literally horrible. It’s the worst smell everrr 😩 I just got mine done yesterday and it was strange! First he numbed it which was all normal. Then they brought in this huge machine which beeped and stuff. Then he got these tweezers that plugged into the machine and then i don’t really know what happened I couldn’t see and it smelled sooo bad

Did he check for other ligaments that need to be released besides just under your tongue there's several other ligaments throughout the mouth that can be cut and released if they are too tight. I have several in my mouth that need to be released besides the one under the tongue.

I'm Surprised that you seem to have no speech impediments. My speech is unclear and mumbled and I think it may be partially caused by my tongue tie but not sure.
@SleeplessinOC7 жыл бұрын
Mandy Irby hi Mandy, I have been told that I sound like I'm mumbling most of my life and I have to think about how I speak when I repeat myself. I can't afford anything right now but when I can, I will probably see a myofunctiinsl therapist and do exercises and then if that doesn't work , then who knows, maybe they will recommend this surgery. I definitely have a tongue tie and a lip tie too I think . I'm 41.
@SleeplessinOC7 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I meant to reply sooner! I did actually have an in person assessment about two months ago in the Los Angeles area but haven’t actually started any therapy because of lack of funds. I have no doubt that your therapist is great though. I’m hoping to open my airways more, improve my speech (and take up singing maybe!) so I don’t sound like I’m mumbling, stop teeth grinding and clenching , and tongue thrusting. They observed I had a tongue tie and a lip tie but they are probably not going to recommend it until they see that the therapy doesn’t work. I actually wish I could get the surgery regardless but time and my financial situation will determine that. What is the greatest improvement you have noticed since getting yours released ?

@@kathrynmcmorrow7170 well I can stick my tongue out, I mean not as long as most people but I can. I can also stick it back the other way down my throat too, which is a little weird but neat I guess. I still talk and do everything else the same so I don't know if it was worth anything.

@christinajackson26623 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, I thought how far you could stick your tongue out was normal, lol. I’d figured out myself I was tongue-tied, because my tongue barely sticks peeks past my lips, but today’s the first time a dentist’s office ever said anything! It was my first time there, and I was like “I knew it, hah!” Then they explained that I’m nearly a 4 and what that means and I was shocked. When they went through all the issues related to adult tongue tie, I was just amazed because I’ve never, and I mean NEVER, felt refreshed after sleep. It’s such a foreign concept to me that people actually wake up feeling rested. I’ve suffered from headaches, tight shoulders and neck my whole life, even have degenerating disks and limited range, and a lovely dowager’s hump, yet tongue-tie was never brought up as a possibility. It blows my mind that I might get relief, and I’m so hopeful while also being so afraid of being disappointed and not improving after my release. I’m scheduled in a month and I just want to hurry and get it done, and waiting is going to be forever. Keep your fingers crossed for me, and lord please please please let me finally relax and learn what feeling awake is like!

How come the surgeon did not suture after he lasered? I think it would heal faster and better if he used sutures and close that up leaving it open the way he did it just leaves room for bacteria to grow and get infected
@rizzlig2 жыл бұрын
The whole reason for cutting it is to open it up. Closing it would undo what was just done.
