The final step of a repair or restauration project is really fun, the hard work is done and only the most satisfying tasks remains. This is video is from a day like this. I have worked a lot on my Cagiva 750 Elefant adventure motorcycle, and finally is the day here when I can put new and repaired parts back on to the bike.

01:00 Unboxing

Really good job you are doing on restoring and improving your elefant. Really like the attention to detail on the rear end of the bike.

Glad to hear it 👍 I hope to get the whole bike to this condition eventually. All the small parts makes up a lot of the total condition and look of the bike. You might have a newly painted bike (or car for that sake), but it still looks old and worn if the small parts are not taken care of. That is at least my opinion 😊

Another great video Hestad 👏🏻 And I have to agree...the "end" result was great. How come you 3D so many separate part? easier to make instead of one big one? Love the way you show-off the bike in close ups at the end. Gives a great round up or how to say it. 🔥🎥

Thanks, the b-roll at the end was fun to put together 😊 My 3D printer is small, max build surface is 20x20 cm, would have loved to have a bigger one, that is reasons I had to print a rear and front piece. A 3D printer has a flat print surface, if the underside of the print is not flat you need to build up using support material that you break off after the print. It is best to avoid this, it saves time, material and make the prints less complex. That is why I decided to split the front piece into two parts, the bottom one is printed upside down to get the toolbox compartment I was after.

Loving the series - now watching all the back episodes to catch up, great stuff!! But... must say one thing: Cagiva is pronounced Ka-jee-va where the j is the Englisg J not the Scandinavian j which is like y in english.. The name actually comes from CAstiglioni GIovanni VArese, read more here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cagiva

Ahh, I've just said it the "Norwegian" way 😬 Well now I know! I'll try to remember to say "Ca/j/iva" from now of - Thanks 🙏 I know a bit about the history of the company, I have not got hold of the "Elefant People" book yet though, it's on my wish list 😊

Hello, thank you very much for your videos. I have found a cagiva 750 from 1989 with what seems to be all original. the sale price is €6000. what do you think about the price? it has 45000km. many thanks for your help.

Hi, I payed €4500, mine has 46000km. Prices here in Norway are quite high compared to prices in other countries. My bike needs a lot of work and a lot of new parts. I have seen similar bike as mine for sale in UK for €2500. I guess €6000 is on the higher end of the price scale for this bike, but if the bike you have found is in very good condition I would say the price is fair. Especially if it is an original Lucky Explorer. You will find several Facebook groups dedicated to this bike. Y,ou could join and ask what other think if it, you find people with more experience than me there 😊 I am pretty sure the prices will just get higher though, this is a classic and they are just great bikes!!! Good luck with your decision 👍😊😬

@@kihestad Thank you very much for your answer, it is very helpful. It is what I thought, a high price but if everything is original it could be a good buy. thank you very much and congratulations for your videos

Yeah I was wondering what have you done to that exhaust until watched till the end. Wondering if you could cut exhaust and weld plates or alternatively, you could draw 3d model of exhaust with some CAD software, and it can give you hydroforming sheet template. You can weld steel sheets according to 3D CAD water forming template and use pressurized water to make exhaust yourself. There are tons of youtube videos about hydroforming. Just a suggestion in case cutting and welding plates don't work out

Have to look into hydroforming, thats unknown territory for me 😬 I have just used my rusty exhaust up up until now, but it's not getting any better 🥴 I have decided to replace it with an aftermarket muffler so I need to rework the piping to get it balanced. Not sure yet how to do it 🤪
@kihestad
@kihestad Жыл бұрын
Ok, I think perhaps you are talking about using hydroforming to make a exhaust expansion chamber for the exhaust? That is usable for 2-stroke engines only, my bike has a 4-stroke engine (2 cylinders) The chamber in front of the original muffler probably just hides some kind of exhaust pipe extension for the rear cylinder to get equal back pressure per cylinder.

@@kihestad I think you can use it to form outer exhaust shell, look for tube hydroforming with die I don't know the internals of the exhaust but to be able to repair it, you'll have to cut it open anyway to see if you can replicate it, so you'll see how internal structure is, probably you'll need exhaust repacking material you can buy online. I cannot tell how much time and money it will cost, but can be done. Go for repair first I would say, might be matter of cutting rusty parts, welding sheet metal and repacking
@kihestad
@kihestad Жыл бұрын
Yes, I'll start by carefully cutting it open to see what's going on inside - just as you suggest 🙂 I hope it's not too complex inside 🤞I'll definitely look more into the hydroforming, thanks a lot for your tips!!!!
